Abstract

Media in the form of problem-based learning videos (PBL) is very necessary when learning material related to environmental pollution. This research aims to see the feasibility of learning videos based on material problems related to environmental pollution, as proven by the evaluation results of validation experts, namely material validators and media validators. This research was conducted on 26 class VII students at SMP NU Palangkaraya. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) which adopts the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evalute) development model. The media developed by researchers is designed based on the parameters of problem-based learning activities. The validation results from the material and media validators show that the criteria are feasible, with percentages of 74% and 88.9 % respectively. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that problem-based learning videos on environmental pollution material are suitable for use in learning.

Abstract

At this time teachers are expected to be able to design teaching materials that can help students achieve learning objectives and teaching materials that can be an independent learning resource that provides a series of lessons presented in a structured format. Modules are teaching materials that can be used to achieve learning objectives. The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility and usefulness of products that have been developed, especially inquiry-based modules for the subject of Biology MAN 1 Langkat. This research refers to research and development (R&D) methods. The development model used in this study is the Borg and Gall model which is modified into 6 stages. Based on data analysis, the results of material expert validation in all aspects were obtained with a percentage of 93.93% with very feasible criteria, up from 91.51%. After improvements, the results of the validation of media experts reached 80% with feasible criteria, up from 70%. The results of linguist validation in all aspects with a percentage of 80%, after improvements were made increased to 87.69% with very feasible criteria. The average student response was 89.58% with convenient criteria, while the average teacher response was 100% with very practical criteria in both samples. Therefore, modules with material on the diversity of living things that have been made can be applied in schools in class X.

Abstract

One of the characters that can be used as basic criteria for plant classification is morphological character. This study aims to determine the species used as medicine in peatlands, the parts of plants used, how to process and diseases that can be cured by medicinal plants in peatlands in Pedamaran District. This research is descriptive qualitative. The sampling technique is quota sampling and data analysis techniques are Miles and Huberman models. The results of identification research in Pedamaran District obtained nineteen species from nine families of medicinal plants and eight medicinal plants that have not been identified. The most widely used part is leaves, besides that there are also roots, stems, flowers, fruit, rhizomes, seeds, tubers and all parts. Based on this it can be seen that the plant can treat various diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, fever, diarrhea, itching on the skin caused by fungus such as phlegm and ringworm, vaginal discharge and nosebleeds, thrush, accelerate the process of wound healing and relieve menstrual pain. The most popular method of management is boiling. Another method is mashed and then smeared, ground and pasted, brewed and consumed directly.

Abstract

Identification is part of the classification of living things. The classification of living things is the formation of groups of various types of animals and plants on earth so that the taxa are arranged in an orderly manner following a hierarchy. The traits or characteristics that are the basis for classification vary depending on the goals to be achieved. One of the characters that can be used as a basic criterion for classifying avifauna is morphological characters. This research aims to determine the avivauna species in the Mount Dempo area, Pagar Alam City, South Sumatra. This research is descriptive qualitative in nature. The sampling technique is quota sampling and the Miles and Huberman model data analysis technique. The results of identification research in the Mount Dempo area obtained 21 types of avifauna (birds) in the Mount Dempo area, Pagar Alam City, South Sumatra Province, and 9 types that were not identified from interviews with local residents. The diversity index of avifauna (bird) species in the Mount Dempo area, Pagar Alam City, South Sumatra Province is 2.67753, which means that the diversity of avifauna (bird) species is moderate.

Abstract

In teaching and learning activities on biology materials, educators are often faced with challenges to the ability of students to understand deep biological concepts. An innovation that is needed by educators is the determination of a learning model that adapts to students. The purpose of the research in this article is a rigorous and regular review of the effectiveness of the discovery learning model in learning biology. Literature review is a method used in this article research which is carried out by identifying, analyzing, describing, and making conclusions based on the relevance of the selected research results systematically. The results of the review of 10 articles show that learning biology using the discovery learning model can improve the ability to collaborate, and creative and critical thinking of students as well as the activeness and learning outcomes of students. Based on the results of the research, the use of the discovery learning model is very effective in the biology learning process in that it can improve students' learning outcomes, and critical thinking skills and increase students' motivation to learn.

Abstract

A good learning process involves both teachers and students collaboratively. Teacher-centered learning often leads to passive students who tend not to experience engaging learning opportunities. A case study at SMAN 1 Teupah Barat Simeulue indicated that students' learning outcomes in the human digestive system topic were still suboptimal, and students' critical thinking in responding to real-life problems had not yet emerged. This study aims to analyze students' learning outcomes and activities through the implementation of a problem-based learning model assisted by TikTok short video media in the human digestive system topic. The research used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, while student activity was measured through observation. Data was collected using test questions and observation sheets. Data analysis was performed with SPSS Version 25 and descriptive statistics. The findings showed that students’ learning outcomes on the human digestive system topic improved significantly, with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. Meanwhile, students’ learning activities reached a final score of 66.77%, categorized as good. The application of a problem-based learning model integrated with TikTok video media on the human digestive system topic can enhance students' learning outcomes and activities.

Abstract

Needs analysis is a systematic process for determining objectives, identifying actual and expected conditions, and prioritizing actions. Needs analysis in the development procedure is carried out to determine the students' assessment of the practicum guide used and the expectations of the practicum guide to be made.The purpose of this study was to analyze student needs for the development of e-modules for microbiology practicum in the biology education study program at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, while the instruments used are student questionnaires and interview guidelines for lecturers and laboratory assistants. The results obtained are 55% of students like microbiology courses, 78% of students like practicum methods, low student science process skills, learning microbiology has been with practicum activities, there is already a practicum guide but it is still printed and not model-based, 46% of students like practicum guides with laboratory assistant direction, 57% of difficult material is sensitivity to antimicrobial substances. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop a practicum guidebook based on the guided inquiry model and integrated with technology on the material of sensitivity to antimicrobial substances to improve the science process skills of biology education students at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang.

Abstract

Biology education at the senior high school level has an important role in providing students with an understanding of basic concepts regarding aspects of life, one of which is fungi. Fungi are one of the important topics in biology and have an important role in the ecosystem. The purpose of this study was to determine the needs of schools in creating teaching modules about fungi for grade X that are in accordance with the curriculum. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study showed that the curriculum implemented at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Air Saleh uses the Independent Curriculum, students prefer the way teachers teach using Student Worksheets (LKPD) media, with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. Practicum was chosen as a solution to solve problems given by teachers. The conclusion of this study is that schools have implemented the latest curriculum by analyzing student needs and teachers prefer learning using Student Worksheets (LKPD) and solving problems by creating project-based teaching modules.

Abstract

In the world of education, as an educator, of course you are expected to have instruments that meet standards to measure students abilities. However, in the field there are still many evaluation questions that do not meet these standards. The aim of this research is to analyze Biology evaluation questions for class X Protista material using the Anates program ver. 4.09, to ensure the questions meet the appropriate question quality standards.This research use a quantitative descriptive approach and use documentation techniques in data collection. The questions used were 10 questions in the form of multuple choices. The result of the analysis of items in the measurement of differentiating power contained 1 item in the very poor category, 5 items in the poor category, 2 items in the sufficient category and 1 item in the good category. Analysis of the difficulty level of questions in the difficult category contained 4 questions, 2 questions in the medium category and 4 questions in the easy category. Analysis of the validity of the questions found that 30% were declared valid and 70% were declared invalid. The reliability value of the questions is 0.02, in accordance with the criteria in the range 0.000-0.199. This means that the questions used have very low coefficients. The average question criteria are included in the poor criteria so changes and revisions need to be made for further use of the questions. It is hoped that this research can improve the quality of test questions on protist material.

Abstract

Concept understanding is an important ability that students must have in the learning process, based on previous research, the understanding of the concept of students, especially in ecosystem material, is still relatively low, this is because the appropriate learning media has not been integrated. This study aims to improve students' understanding of concepts in ecosystem material by using google slide LKPD assisted by pear deck. This research method uses a pre experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test design and the sample is taken by convenience sampling technique. The instruments used were test questions and questionnaires. Analysis of research data includes descriptive statistics and N-Gain test. Based on the results of the concept understanding test data analysis, the average percentage of students' concept understanding increased from 37.5% in the low category to 77.81% in the high category. The results of inferential statistical analysis using N-Gain obtained an average of 0.64 with a moderate category. It can be concluded that the use of E-LKPD google slide assisted pear deck can improve students' concept understanding on ecosystem material.
