Abstract

The soil microbiome is a complex community of microorganisms that plays an important role in the life cycle of plants, including the seed germination phase. The soil microbial community contributes to plant health and is a highly diverse complex. The soil microbial community influences plant growth in various ways, such as enhancing nutrient uptake, increasing root exudate secretion, and improving plant defense against pathogens.  Additionally, the interaction between plants and the soil microbiome is also very important. This primarily occurs in the rhizosphere, the small portion of soil where plant roots influence the microbiome through the secretion of exudates containing sugars, vitamins, organic acids, hormones, amino acids, and fatty acids. This article aims to examine the soil microbiome that plays a role in influencing seed germination as a supporting factor for sustainable agriculture. This type of research uses a literature review method. Information collection was conducted through literature studies by analyzing data from various sources over the past 10 years. The research findings indicate that microbiomes such as Azotobacter sp., Lactobacillus sp., Trichoderma sp., Bacillus subtilis, Gliocladium sp., and Beauveria bassiana can have an impact on plant germination. From the literature review conducted, it can be concluded that germination is a crucial initial stage in the life cycle of seed-bearing plants.

Abstract

The rising levels of heavy metal pollution in water bodies present major environmental and public health issues. Conventional methods for remediation often come with high costs and produce secondary waste, which can pose additional environmental risks. As an alternative, chitosan—a natural, biopolymer derived from chitin—has gained attention as a promising biosorbent for heavy metal removal. Its advantages include biocompatibility, biodegradability, and a strong ability to bind metal ions effectively. This review explores chitosan’s capacity to adsorb various heavy metals and examines its practical applications in biosorption technology. Key factors that impact its adsorption efficiency, such as solution pH, metal concentration, and contact time, are discussed. Additionally, structural modifications to enhance chitosan’s performance, including cross-linking and nanoparticle incorporation, are analyzed to highlight improvements in adsorption efficiency. By assessing these elements, this review aims to offer a comprehensive perspective on the role of chitosan in environmental management, particularly for treating heavy metal contamination in wastewater. The findings underscore chitosan's potential as a sustainable solution in pollution control, emphasizing its advantages over traditional methods and its capacity to contribute to cleaner water resources.

Abstract

In the learning process, chemistry teachers still rely on printed teaching materials that focus on conceptual content delivery without integrating students daily life contexts. Specifically, chemistry instruction has not been linked to the local characteristics of the Riau Archipelago region, which holds significant maritime potential. Therefore, an interactive E-LKPD supported by maritime case studies and facilitated through Google Sites was developed for thermochemistry material. This research aims to produce interactive E-LKPD teaching materials supported by maritime cases using Google Sites in the topic of thermochemistry. This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The developed teaching material was validity by one subject material validators and one media validators. The research subjects are two chemistry teachers and 27 students from class XI.3 of SMA Negeri 5 Tanjungpinang. The results showed that the development of the interactive E-LKPD supported by maritime case studies using Google Sites for thermochemistry material receive a validity score of 93,21% from the material validator and 92,5% from the media validator, both categorized as very valid. The practically scores from teachers and students were 95,24% and 96,24%, respectively category as very practical. These results indicate that developed teaching material is highly feasible for use in learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan e-modul kimia terintegrasi Socio Scientific Issue (SSI) pada materi kesetimbangan kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kelayakan e-modul, respons peserta didik terhadap e-modul, menganalisis hasil penerapan terhadap proses pembelajaran dengan pendekatan SSI dan respons guru. Pengembangan ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D (define, design, develop, dan disseminate) Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari-Maret 2024 di SMAN 4 Kota Bengkulu dengan subjek yaitu 15 orang peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 1 untuk uji coba skala kecil dan 34 peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 5 untuk uji coba skala besar. Instrumen pada penelitian ini yaitu lembar wawancara, lembar validasi ahli materi dan media, angket respon peserta didik dan angket respons guru. Dari hasil penelitian ini diperoleh (1) tingkat kelayakan e-modul memiliki kategori sangat layak dengan skor pada aspek materi yaitu 4,7 dan 4,6 untuk aspek media, (2) hasil uji respons peserta didik terhadap e-modul berbasis terintegrasi SSI pada memiliki skor 4,6 dengan kategori sangat baik (3) hasil penerapan pada  proses pemebelajaran dengan pendekatan Socio Scientific Issue (SSI) yang mengaitkan isu-isu sosial didapatkan sebanyak 82,35% yang mendapatkan nilai  80 (4) respons guru terhadap e-modul mendapatkan skor 4,7 dengan kategori sangat layak. Hal ini berarti e-modul yang terintegrasi SSI yang dikaji menggunakan sintaks discovery learning mengandung isu sosial di dalamnya yang dapat meningkatkan literasi peserta didik dalam keterampilan critical thinking skills dan charater.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi asam basa dengan menggunakan media aplikasi Liveworksheets dan respons siswa terhadap implementasi E-LKPD Liveworksheets bermuatan etnokimia . Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode quasi experiment (eksperimen semu) dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel jenuh. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Muhammadiyah Langsa sebanyak 2 kelas dengan jumlah 26 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi media aplikasi Liveworksheets signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Terlihat pada rata-rata n-gain untuk kelas eksperimen (pembelajaran E-LKPD menggunakan Liveworksheets  bermuatan etnokimia) sebesar  0,70 termasuk dalam kategori tinggi, sementara n-gain untuk kelas kontrol (pembelajaran konvensional) sebesar 0,47 termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Hasil perhitungan dengan menggunakan uji mann whitney menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0,003  yang lebih kecil dari 0,05,  yang menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan  signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Hasil angket respon peserta didik diperoleh persentase rata-rata 84,3% (sangat baik) terhadap implementasi  media pembelajaran E-LKPD Liveworksheets bermuatan etnokimia. Sehingga, dapat disimpulkan bahwa  E-LKPD menggunakan Liveworksheets  bermuatan etnokimia dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir ktitis siswa dalam materi asam basa

Abstract

Used lubricants are one of the wastes included in B3 waste, used lubricants contain heavy metals that can pollute the environment and are harmful to living things. Used lubricants contain metals, namely Pb, Zn, Ca, Ba, Na and Mg which can damage vehicle engines. The application of the photolysis method using TiO2/Zeolite catalysts can degrade Mg and Na metals in used lubricants. This study aims to determine the effect of using TiO2/Zeolite catalysts on the degradation of used lubricants by the photolysis method. Analysis of Mg and Na metal content in used lubricants was measured using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Analysis of used lubricants before and after adsorption with Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Characterization of TiO2/Zeolite before and after degradation using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The research obtained the optimum conditions for the degradation of Mg and Na metals in used lubricants, namely the optimum degradation time for Mg and Na metals is 15 minutes, the optimum amount of catalyst for degradation for Mg and Na metals is 0.4 grams, and the optimum volume of used lubricant for the degradation of Mg and Na metals is 10 mL with a large percentage of degradation of 83.37% Mg and 74.98% Na. Characterization of TiO2/Zeolite using XRD showed no change in the structure of TiO2/Zeolite. Based on these data, it can be said that the TiO2 catalyst supported by zeolite can be used to degrade Mg and Na metals in used lubricants. Characterization of used lubricants using FTIR showed a shift in wave numbers before and after degradation which indicated a degradation process.   Pelumas bekas merupakan salah satu limbah yang termasuk dalam limbah B3, pelumas bekas mengandung logam berat yang dapat mencemari lingkungan dan berbahaya bagi makhluk hidup. Pelumas bekas mengandung logam yaitu Pb, Zn, Ca, Ba, Na dan Mg yang dapat merusak mesin kendaraan. Penerapan metode fotolisis dengan menggunakan katalis TiO2/Zeolit dapat mendegradasi logam Mg dan Na pada pelumas bekas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan katalis TiO2/Zeolit terhadap degradasi pelumas bekas dengan metode fotolisis. Analisis kandungan logam Mg dan Na pada pelumas bekas diukur dengan menggunakan alat Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (AAS). Analisis pelumas bekas sebelum dan sesudah adsorpsi dengan Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Karakterisasi TiO2/Zeolit sebelum dan sesudah degradasi menggunakan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Dari penelitian ini diperoleh kondisi optimum untuk degradasi logam Mg dan Na pada pelumas bekas, yaitu waktu degradasi optimum untuk logam Mg dan Na adalah 15 menit, jumlah katalis optimum untuk degradasi logam Mg dan Na adalah 0,4 gram, dan volume pelumas bekas yang optimum untuk degradasi logam Mg dan Na adalah 10 mL dengan besar persen degradasi 83,37% Mg dan 74,98% Na. Karakterisasi TiO2/Zeolit dengan menggunakan XRD menunjukkan tidak adanya perubahan struktur TiO2/Zeolit. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa katalis TiO2 yang didukung oleh zeolit dapat digunakan untuk mendegradasi logam Mg dan Na pada pelumas bekas. Karakterisasi pelumas bekas menggunakan FTIR menunjukkan adanya pergeseran bilangan gelombang sebelum dan sesudah degradasi yang mengindikasikan adanya proses degradasi.

Abstract

Kapur sirih (Ca(OH)₂) diteliti sebagai koagulan anorganik yang tersedia secara lokal dan ramah lingkungan untuk mengurangi kontaminasi mikroplastik pada ikan bilih (Mystacoleucus padangensis) dari Danau Singkarak, Tanah Datar, Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Studi ini mengevaluasi efisiensi koagulasi, kondisi operasi optimal, dan mekanisme yang mendasari. Penghilangan optimal dicapai pada konsentrasi koagulan 5%, waktu kontak 60 menit, dan kecepatan pengadukan 300 rpm. Penambahan 5% NaCl secara signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan pengurangan mikroplastik, mencapai efisiensi hingga 70,73%. Analisis morfologis dengan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) menunjukkan pembentukan gumpalan besar, mengindikasikan interaksi fisik antara mikroplastik dan endapan kalsium hidroksida. Penurunan nilai zeta potensial setelah koagulasi menunjukkan netralisasi muatan yang efektif dan destabilisasi koloid. Hasil ini menyoroti kapur sirih sebagai koagulan yang menjanjikan, berbiaya rendah, dan berkelanjutan untuk mengurangi polusi mikroplastik di lingkungan air tawar, terutama di daerah danau.

Abstract

The development of sience, technology, and transformation in various sector allows the need of capable measure: how effective their role in learning interactions. This study seeks to reveal the profile of collaboration skills (CS) and communication confidence (CC) of pre-service chemsitry teacher (PCT). Convenience sampling technique was adopted for this study. A total of 26 PCTs were involved as research samples. The research intervention was conducted through six online lectures for PCT. Group discussions and presentations were implemented to collect data. Therefore, non-tests were used as data collection techniques. Data were obtained through two closed-ended questionnaires: the Collaborative Skill Questionnaire (CS-Q) and the Communication Confidence Questionnaire (CC-Q). The validity of the instruments was tested theoretically and empirically. Sixteen of the 20 CS-Q items and 22 of the 30 CC-Q items were valid. The Cronbach's alpha reliability estimates for the CS-Q and CC-Q instruments were 0.753 and 0.804, respectively. With data in the form of a Likert scale, descriptive statistics were used to analyze the profile levels of the PCT-CS and PCT-CC. The level criteria were divided into five categories. Based on these results, the PCT-CS was generally at a good level. Meanwhile, the PCT-CC level was sufficient. Based on the research results that have gone through the data analysis stage, learning activities need to implement methods that are capable of training PCT-CS and PCT-CC

Abstract

This research is research and development (R&D) to produced valid and reliable scientific literacy based cognitive assessment instrument. An assessment instrument was developed to measure students' scientific literacy abilities on equilibrium material. This research aims to described the feasibility of the instrument in terms of expert validation, described the validity and reliability of the instrument in terms of empirical validation and described the scientific literacy abilities of class XI MIPA 5 students at SMA Negeri 4 Bengkulu City. The development model used in this research is the ADDIE model. The data in this research collected used a instruments needs questionnaire, validation sheet and product trial sheet. The subjects of this research were 184 from 3 different schools as validation subjects and 29 grade 11 MIPA 5 students at SMA Negeri 4 Bengkulu City for the 2023/2024 academic year as implementation subjects. The number of questions developed on this instrument is 23 multiple choice questions and 10 essays. The results of this research were: (1.) The expert feasibility assessment produced 21 multiple choice questions and 10 essay items worthy of being tested. (2.) The results of the empirical validity analysis using Rasch modeling with the help of the Winsteps program obtained 15 multiple choice questions and 9 valid essay questions. (3.) The results of the instrument reliability test obtained a Cronbach alpha of 0.92 or in the excellent category for multiple choice and 0.80 or in the good category for essays. (4.) The scientific literacy abilities of class XI MIPA 5 students were obtained by 6 students in the quite satisfactory category and 1 student in the satisfactory category.
