Abstract

The potential for superior products owned by Indonesia is enormous, especially those produced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). One of the efforts that can be made to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs products is halal certification. This study aims to determine the perspective of the role of religiosity and consumer pressure on MSMEs' intentions in Jember Regency in registering their products in halal certification. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with MSMEs research subjects in East Java. Retrieval of data using interview techniques, observation, questionnaire, and documentation. Findings. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that religiosity and consumer pressure have a role in the intention of MSMEs to register their products in the halal certification program. However, it was found that consumer pressure as an external factor has a more substantial role than religiosity as an internal factor. Based on the conclusions, this study recommends suggestions to encourage MSMEs in East Java to have high intentions in registering their products in halal certification. It is necessary to have an optimal role from various parties, including the government (for example, the Office of Cooperatives and MSMEs, the Office of Industry and Trade, and Local Government), Stakeholders, Banking, and communities or forums to provide training, mentoring and providing access to MSMEs mainly related to halal certification and increasing the capacity of product competitiveness.

Abstract

The policy of implementing MBKM is hope for universities so that they can adapt well to changing times, have a more positive impact on society, and provide extensive opportunities for universities to contribute to society. Concerning the implementation of a curriculum in higher education institutions, paying attention to student perceptions is considered to be important for assessing the effectiveness of implementing the curriculum as a learning reference from the perspective of the recipient object. Therefore, research was conducted to explore students' perceptions of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. This research uses a mixed method with an explanatory sequential design. College students in East Java Province who have taken part in the Merdeka Curriculum program are the research population, and the sample is non-probability sampling with an accidental sampling technique. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing quantitative data questionnaires. The collected data is then triangulated to compare data obtained from various parties to ensure trust. The research results concluded that students' perceptions of technical indicators in MBKM learning were positive. Furthermore, students' perceptions of the MBKM learning process indicators, which contain three sub-indicators (interaction, teaching materials, and assignments), show positive results on average. Then, students' perceptions of the MBKM learning evaluation indicators, which contain four sub-indicators (mid-semester exam, final semester exam, learning outcomes, and sustainability), also show positive results.

Abstract

The halal industry is overgrowing, including in Indonesia, with the largest Muslim population in the world. Indonesia is ranked 19th as a producer and ranked 3rd as a consumer in the global halal industry. Although one of the halal certifications for MSMEs is free, only 1% of MSMEs in Indonesia are already halal certified. This study aims to analyze empirically the factors that influence the intensity of MSMEs in Indonesia to register for halal certification. A quantitative approach is used in this research by distributing questionnaires using the Likert scale to MSMEs. A total of 122 valid data collected were analyzed by adopting SEM-PLS. The analysis found that external factors had a dominant influence on the intention of MSMEs to register their products in halal certification, consumer pressure with a t-statistic of 4.328, and government policies with a t-statistic of 2.976. Moreover, one of the internal factors, awareness, is accepted with a t-statistic of 2.065. Meanwhile, benefits, competitors, and religiosity are not proven to affect halal certification. The data will help plan interventions from the government to encourage MSMEs to register their products in halal certification. The government should focus on assisting halal certification for MSMEs intensively.
