Abstract

Climate change due to global warming is an environmental issue related to forests which is now being explored in the future. Reducing the impact of climate change, efforts that can be done at this time are to reduce carbon emissions, increase carbon sequestration and maintain existing carbon stocks by managing forests to stay awake. The purpose of this study was to determine the estimation of the amount of carbon found in the type of Cemara Gunung (Casuarina junghuhniana Miq) at the Conservation Resort of the Golo Lusang Region I Nature Park in Ruteng. This study was limited to an area of ​​50 ha from the total area of ​​the Golo Lusang Region I, which was 8,742.83 Ha. Data retrieval is done by non destructive sampling method with sampling intensity of 5% of the total. Sampling in this study was carried out using the random sampling method. The amount of carbon reserves in each cemara gunung (Casuarina junghuhniana Miq) type is calculated by the allometric equation The total carbon content in the study location amounted to 246,592.66 tons / ha. For the tree phase that is equal to 245,308.1 tons / ha, the pole phase is 833.65 tons/ha of sapling phase of 450.92 tons/ha and seedling phase of 0 tons / ha. The highest percentage of carbon content is found in the stem (76%), twigs (16%) and leaves (8%).

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with a high level of diversity, including in the bird category, there are 1,771 species found in Indonesia, of which there are 533 protected species. Baumata Nature Park is one of the nature conservation areas included in the Kupang Regency,Taebenu District. This study aims to determine the diversity of bird species in Baumata Nature Park, carried out for 2 months from October-November 2019 using the point transect method and the MacKinnon method. From the analysis using the MacKinnon method, it was found that there were 27 bird species from 17 tribes, of all bird species there were 20 species of birds endemic to Nusa Tenggara, namely Isap madu timor (Lichmera flavincans), Burung madu matari (Nectarinia solaris), Kancilan timor (Pachycephala orpheus), Anis timor (Zoothera peronii), Decu timor (Saxicola caprata), Cikrak timor (Phylloscopus presbtyes), Meliphaga dada lurik (Meliphaga reticulata), Bondol pancawarna (Lonchura quinticolor), Kacamata limau (Zosterops citrinellus), Pipit zebra (Taeniopygia guttata), Ayam hutan merah (Gallus gallus), Burung madu matari (Nectarinia solaris), Walet sapi (Collocalia esculenta), Burung gereja erasia (Passer montanus), Kipasan dada hitam (Rhipidura rufifrons), Srigunting walaceae (Dicrurus densus), Cikrak dada kuning (Seicercus montis), Puyuh coklat (Coturnix ypsilophora) Tekukur biasa (Streptopelia chinensis), Elang boneli (Hieraaetus fasciatus) and 1 type of migrant bird, namely Kirik-kirik australia (Merops ornatus). The most common types of birds in Baumata Nature Park are insectivorous and nectar species. The diversity of bird species in Baumata Nature Park has an H 'value of 3.15 with a high category.

Abstract

Camplong Nature Tourism Park (NTP) is one of the conservation areas in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The NTP Camplong area is partially designated as a Nature Tourism Park managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency East Nusa Tenggara (BBKSDA NTT) based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry Number: SK.347 / MenhutII / 2010 with an area of ​​696.60 Ha. One of the management activities carried out in Camplong NTP is protection of forest areas. Protection efforts are faced with various threats, including being located near settlements and public roads, making them vulnerable to habitat destruction. Forest fires, illegal use of area resources and waste disposal are the main problems that threaten the existence of the NTP Camplong area. Based on the Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool (METT) assessment by BBKSDA NTT, the METT score was 69%, from the minimum value of 70%. This study aims to determine the effectiveness and strategies to increase the effectiveness of efforts to protect the Camplong Nature Park area. The research was conducted in July-August 2019 at NTP Camplong. Data collection was carried out by direct observation and in-depth interviews. From the research results, it is known that the management aspects in the form of planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring carried out in NTP Camplong have generally been implemented even though they have not run optimally. This has an impact on the less than optimal protection efforts for the NTP Camplong area. Strategies for increasing the effectiveness of the management of the NTP Camplong area, namely: strengthening management management; increasing the implementation of area protection and security; coordination with government and legal institutions; as well as increasing community participation in area protection efforts.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the diversity of types of orchids (Orchidacea). This research was carried out in the Protected Forest of Ajaobaki Village, North Mollo Sub-District, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. It was carried out for 1 month, from July to August 2020. This study used purposive sampling, survey and transect pathway methods. Data analysis used qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative descriptive analysis. The data were processed using the Shannon Wiener diversity index formula (H '). The results showed that there were 10 types of epiphytic orchids found in the sampling plot in the protected forest of Ajaobaki Village. The most common orchids found were Dendrobium secundum as many as 569 species and the least was Lipariscrenulata with 2 species. There are 3 types of trees recorded, namely Ampupu (Eucalyptus urophylla), Cemara (Casuarina junghuniana), and Mahogany (Swietenie mahagoni). Protected forest areas have homogeneous forest types, which has the most tree types that are mostly dominated by Pine trees (Casuarina junghuniana). The host tree for orchids that is more dominant as the attachment for orchids is the Pine tree (Casuarina junghuniana). The results of the calculation of the diversity of orchids on the observation plot were calculated using the Shannon winner index of 1.87 (H '). The diversity types of orchid (Orchidacea) in the protected forest of Ajaobaki Village having moderate diversity (1≤H’≤3) because there is a lot of orchid theft and also taking firewood in the Protected Forest so that there are fewer orchids.

Abstract

Decomposition defined as simple change of physical or chwmical caused by the activity of microorganisms ( soil bacteria, fungi, other land and animals or often called) mineralisasi also is destruction of organic material derived from animals and plants become simple organic of compounds that will be absorbed back into the ground. The measurement of decomposition litter the leaves do by putting a litter bag filled with litter Acacia leaves as many as 40 gr. Then, liiter bag will be placed at random as much as 30 litter bag around Acacia. The research is done for 3 months from February to April 2020. Litter are collected as many as 10 bags every month and the leaf dry weight was calculated at 75 °C for 24 hours. The measuements result will count with the formula a decline of weight and the rate of decomposition. The decomposition of litter based on the result of budget 8.175 % gr/ months or 98.1 x 10-6 tons/years. The decomposition of litter afected by many the suitability and makroorganisme microorganisms that have been flying to restore to soil nutrient. Then the decomposition of litter influenced by three main factors such as reverse engineered organisms, the quality of litter and the enviroment physic- chemichal.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the types of pests in sandalwood stands, symptoms of damage, population numbers, and morphological characteristics of pests in sandalwood stands (Santalum album L.) in the Cendana Nunka Community Forest, Hamlet III Region, Ponain Village, Amarasi District, Kupang Regency. One month from February to March 2020. The data collection method in this study used primary data and secondary data. Furthermore, sampling using plots or plots at the observation location in the form of a diagonal with a size of 10 × 10 m consisting of 5 sub plots of sample units in one unit plot there are 5 sample trees (about 10%) with each sample unit of 1.5 m using sticky traps and taken directly on sandalwood stands aged 9-10 years. Then the samples were identified at the Laboratory, Pests, Faperta, Nusa Cendana University and analyzed using the calculation of absolute damage and non-absolute damage. The results of the research identified and obtained the population of pests that attack sandalwood stands in the Cendana Nunka Community Forest, Hamlet III Region, Ponain Village, Amarasi District, Kupang Regency, armored scale (Chionaspis. sp) of 315.24 individuals/plant. Then mealybug (Nipaecoccus viridis) of 44.84 heads/plant with (IKTM) Non-Absolute Damage Intensity of 33.05%.

Abstract

This research was conducted in the coastal area of Humusu Wini Village from September to November 2020. The aim was to determined the composition and structure as well as the diversity of mangrove vegetation in the coastal area of Humusu Wini Village, North Insana Sub-District, North Central Timor Distric. The analysis of the composition and structure of mangrove vegetation was carried out using the plot-line transect method. The number of observation plots were 17 with the plot size ranged from 2 x 2 m, 5 x 5 m, 10 x 10 m, and 20 x 20 m. Based on the results of the study, there were 6 mangrove species identified from 4 families. The family with the highest number of species is Rhizophoraceae that consist of 3 species namely Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa and Bruguiera gymnorhiza. The highest Important Value Index in trees level was occupied by Avicennia marina species with 140.484%, in poles level was occupied by Xylocarpus granatum species with 74.129%, while highest of Important Value Index in saplings and seedling levels was Rhyzophora apiculata with 57.994% and 49.444%, respectively. The mangrove vegetation diversity index ranged from 1,22 to 1,68, which can be categorized as moderate or fairly good of diversity index.

Abstract

Timor deer (Rusa timorensis) is a type of tropical deer originating from Java, which has a fairly wide distribution in Indonesia. Rusa Island is one of the areas in Alor Regency which has a fairly large forest area and can provide a source of food or animal needs so that it becomes a habitat for Timor deer. This study aims to determine the level of population density and distribution of the Timor deer (Rusa timorensis) in the Rusa Island Nature Park. The data collection method used in this research is the concentration count method. Observations were made at a point as a place for animal encounters, then along the observation point the number of deer individuals found was recorded with 2 times of observation, namely morning and afternoon. The data obtained were analyzed using the formula for density or abundance, sex ratio, analysis of vegetation and distribution. The results showed that the number of Timor deer population encounters at the Pulau Rusa TWA was 26 with 11 males and 15 females with a density of 1.17 tails/ha. In terms of sex ratio, the population structure of the deer shows that the ratio of male and female deer is balanced because there are more female deer than males. The distribution of Timor deer (Rusa timorensis) in the area is influenced by vegetation and TWA. Deer Island has a savanna habitat type and several types of plants that can be used as shelter.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out the forms of community forest utilization in the Wolobobo HKm by farming communities in KTH Anugerah, KTH Medium Mekar and KTH Setia Kawan. Knowing the amount of income generated by farming communities in KTH Anugerah, KTH Sedang Mekar and KTH Setia Kawan. Knowing the level of profit from the use of HKm for farming communities in KTH Anugerah, KTH Sedang Mekar and KTH Setia Kawan. This research was carried out in HKm Wolobobo, Ngada Regency which consisted of 32 KTH with KTH samples taken as much as 10% (3 KTH) of the total KTH. Determination of KTH sample is done by simple random sampling. Data collection techniques used in this study are primary data and secondary data. From the data collected, descriptive quantitative data analysis was carried out. The results showed that the form of utilization of Wolobobo Hkm Coffee and Ginger became the main commodities. Farming business in HKm Wolobobo provides relative benefits to farmers with the results after analyzing the R/C ratio of KTH Anugerah of 2.88, KTH Sedang Mekar of 4.93 and KTH Setia Kawan of 7.70 which is greater than 1, then the business This farmer is declared to be profitable.

Abstract

Problems that in forest areas are usually damage done by people who live around forest areas. The damage that usually occurs is forest fires, illegal logging, and encroachment. Within the Wolobobo HKm area, damage such as encroachment was still found until 2001 with a total land area of ​​481 hectares. To avoid a higher level of damage, the government, namely UPT KPH Ngada Regency together with the LSM Serbio Ngada, took a middle path by making the Ri'i customary regulation which was proclaimed on November 8, 2003. Over time, the government established the Wolobobo HKm area with a forest function as HP (Production Forest) in 2010 and the establishment of Social Forestry in 2016.The research was carried out in the HKm Wolobobo area, Bajawa, Ngada Regency, this research was conducted to find out the Implementation of Social Forestry Policy and the Implementation of Ri'i Customary Regulations. The research was conducted for 2 months June - August 2022. Respondents in this study came from five KTH with a total of 72 members. The method used in this study is qualitative. The results of the research obtained through the interview method with the help of a questionnaire found that the Implementation of Social Forestry Policy and the Implementation of Ri'i Customary Regulations had not gone well because the UPT KPH in Ngada Regency was not optimal in conducting outreach and assistance to the management community and the low level of good human resources from both quantity and quality.
