Abstract

The existence of forests is threatened due to increased population growth, resulting in land use issues becoming more complex and very competitive. To avoid increasing damage, it is necessary to emphasize the community who has an important role, one of the strategies used is the Social Forestry scheme in the form of community forests (HKm), the HKm Program involving the community is expected to be able to foster and instill a sense of community ownership of forests as one of the stakeholders that will determine the success of sustainable development of forest ecosystems and improve community welfare through the institution of Forest Farmer Groups (KTH). The research was conducted in the Wolobobo Community Forest area, Bajawa, Ngada Regency, this research was conducted to analyze the KTH Institution in the Wolobobo Community Forest Area. The research was conducted for 2 months August - September 2023. Respondents in this study came from KTH More mesu with a total of 28 members. The method used in this research is a qualitative method, using Stakeholder analysis with the 4R framework, namely Right, Responsibilities, Revenue/returns, Relationship. The results of the research obtained through the interview method with the help of questionnaires show that the Forest Farmer Group Institution has not been effective due to the lack of guidance and assistance to the community, lack of awareness of responsibility by each stakeholder role, low community income and relationships between stakeholders that have not gone well

Abstract

Forest is an ecosystem unit in the form of an expanse of land containing biological natural resources dominated by trees in their natural environment which cannot be separated from one another, if it has been changed or damaged the continuity of the ecosystem in the forest will be damaged and no longer has a balance of existing ecosystems. This study aims to determine the level of composition of honey bee forage species and the diversity of honey bee forage species in production forests in Northwest Amfoang, Soliu Village.The type of composition of forest honey bee forage species found in the Soliu Village Research Forest, Northwest Amfoang District, consists of 15 types of honey bee forage with a total of 622 individuals.The level of species diversity (H') of forest honey bee forage species in the production forest area of Soliu Village, Northwest Amfoang District. for each level is classified as moderate, namely at the tree level of 2.20% including moderate criteria, poles of 2.35% and including moderate criteria, saplings of 1.54% including moderate criteria and seedlings reaching 0,70% and including low criteria.

Abstract

Efforts to utilize optimal resources can be made by developing tourism with the concept of ecotourism. This research aims to determine the development aspects and feasibility value of each aspect of developing tourist attractions in the Egon natural tourism area in Egon Village, Waigete District, Sikka Regency. The sampling method used in this research is the purposive sampling method. As for determining the number of research samples using the Slovin formula, the number of respondents obtained was 94 respondents. Data taken through direct observation includes visitor perception data on aspects of attractiveness, accessibility, accommodation, facilities and infrastructure, security, socio-economic environmental conditions. The research results show that the potential offered is the beauty of natural panoramas, tracking routes, and several types of interesting flora and fauna. The results of research into the feasibility of tourism potential include several criteria such as attractiveness 76.67%, accessibility 70.83%, accommodation 33.33%, facilities and infrastructure 30%, security 100%, socio-economic environmental conditions 60%. The total feasibility level for these 6 criteria is 61.80, so it can be concluded that the Egon Natural Tourism Area is not yet suitable for development as a tourist location.

Abstract

Mata Air Village Forest Area is located in Kupang Tengah Subdistrict, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Mata Air Village has the potential for high diversity of flora and fauna resources, especially bird species because birds have an abundant number of species, easy to observe and wide mobility, but data related to bird diversity and distribution have not been well documented so there is no information about bird diversity in the Mata Air Village area. This study was conducted to determine the level of bird species diversity in the area. This research was conducted from April to May 2024. The method used in this study was the point count method for bird observation. This study was conducted to determine the level of bird species diversity in the area. The results showed that the birds found in the Mata Air Village Forest Area were 12 bird species from 7 families with a total of 57 individuals. The types of bird food found in the Mata Air Village Forest Area consist of nectivores, insectivores, granivores, frugivores and piscivores. Bird conservation status consists of 10 Least Concern species, 1 Data Deficient species and 1 Near Threatened species. The calculation results using the Shannon-Wienner diversity index obtained a value of H'2.17 where this result is categorized as moderate diversity.

Abstract

In Indonesia there are around 1737 species of birds (Birdlife International 2023). However, the status of birds in Indonesia is also endangered and this status continues to increase. Based on Birdlife International (2023), there are 162 species of birds that are threatened globally with a percentage of 10% of the total bird species in Indonesia. Kelimutu National Park offers a variety of habitats that support the life of various bird species. One of the areas of interest to research is the Tracking Pemo trail, which is known for its natural beauty and diversity of ecosystems. This study aims to measure the diversity of bird species in the Kelimutu National Park Pemo Tracking route and determine the conservation status based on the regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry (Permen LHK No.P, 106/2018) and the IUCN (International Union For Conservation Of Nature) Threatened status. This study was conducted from October to November 2023 using the Mackinnon species list method. The results of the study show that the richness and diversity of bird species found in the Pemo tracking path is that there are 35 species of birds from 23 families that have high diversity, and there are also 10 types of protected birds in the Pemo tracking trail area. There is 1 type of endemic bird, namely the Flores Kancilan (Pachycephala nudigula) which has 15 kinds of cuara or chirping. Of the 35 types of birds found, there are species of Perkici Flores birds whose status is almost threatened/NT and 34 other species have LC (Low Risk) status.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Wolojita Village, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, from February to March 2025. The aim of this study was to determine the local wisdom of the Wolojita community in Flores Hawk-eagle conservation efforts. The method used in this study was descriptive. Data were collected through interviews, direct observation, surveys, document analysis, and case studies. Purposive sampling was used to obtain relevant and accurate information and data from the field. The results of this study indicate that the local wisdom of the Wolojita community influences environmental conservation, particularly the Flores Hawk-eagle, so that it remains sustainable for future generations. The Joka Ju and Pati Ka Embu Mamo customs still apply today. During the Joka Ju ritual, residents are prohibited from engaging in activities outside the home. This is due to taboos that must be observed during this ritual. Violations of these taboos result in a customary fine (Poi) imposed by the traditional elders (Mosalaki). Another ritual is the pati ka embu mamo, which is performed to feed ancestors, summoning the Flores Eagle, an incarnation of the ancestor, to be fed. Kelimutu National Park involves the surrounding community in supporting the preservation of the Flores Eagle by assisting the Wolojita Village community, resulting in the formation of the Jata Bara Flores Eagle monitoring group, tasked with monitoring and ensuring the survival of the Flores Eagle.

Abstract

The existence of parrot species in Sumba Island is unique and attractive, but their population is decreasing due to illegal hunting and trade. This research was conducted in Luku Melolo Forest, Praimbana Lakatang Protected Area, using IPA (Index Ponctualle de’Abondance), Line Transect, Vegetation Analysis, and habitat observation methods. Results showed that the highest population density was found in Orange-crested Cockatoo (1.44 ind/ha), while other species such as Red-cheeked Parrot, Eclectus Parrot, and Orange Parrot had 0.2 ind/ha each. The distribution pattern of all four species was random. The dominant vegetation was Bidara (Zizipus mauritiana L.) with the highest INP value, while Bamboo (Bambusoideae) had the lowest INP. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’=2.66) indicated a medium level of species diversity. This study provides essential insights for the conservation of parrots in East Sumba

Abstract

The Yellow-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea), a critically endangered subspecies of the Yellow-crested Cockatoo, faces population pressure due to illegal hunting and habitat destruction. This study aimed to analyze the population and characteristics of Yellow-crested Cockatoo nest trees in the Tuti Adagae Natural Reserve (TWA), a case study area of the canary forest in Kamot Village, North East Alor District, Alor Regency. The research method involved field surveys, direct observation, and measurements of the characteristics of the nest trees used by the cockatoos. The population survey was conducted by recording the number of individuals observed along the observation route, while nest trees were identified and their characteristics, including tree species, diameter, and height of the nest The study concluded that although the Tuti Adagae National Park (TWA) provides habitat for the Yellow-crested Cockatoo, the species' population remains vulnerable. Habitat destruction and microclimate factors pose serious challenges. Conservation recommendations include protecting existing nesting trees, restoring habitat through appropriate tree planting, and conducting regular population monitoring to support the survival of this endangered species. hole, were measured. Abstract

This research was conducted in the Prof. Ir. Herman. Yohanes Community Forest Park (Tahura) Area, in Apren Village, South Amarasi District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, with the results of the study showing that the Ficus genus identified in Apren Village, South Amarasi District, Kupang Regency is 16 types of Ficus out of 19 types of Ficus there are 3 types of Ficus that are not identified, namely Ficus Callophylla, Ficus Caulocarpa and Ficus Fulva. While the 16 types of Ficus identified in Apren Village, South Amarasi District, Kupang Regency are Ficus Ampelas, Ficus Benjamina, Ficus Callosa, Ficus Drupacea, Ficus Hispida, Ficus Microcarpa, Ficus Nervosa subsp. Pubinervis, Ficus Racemosa, Ficus Septica, Ficus Superba, Ficus Tintoria subsp, Gibbosa, Ficus Tintoria subsp. Tintoria, Ficus Varieagata, Ficus Virens, Ficus Virgata and Ficus Wassa Roxb, which are recorded in 5 subgenus namely Urostigma, Pharmacosycea, Sycomorus, Sycidium and Ficus. According to the results of the study above, it can be concluded that the diversity of Ficus species according to the Shannon & Wiener diversity index, 1≤ H’≤3 which indicates moderate diversity. For each type of habitat, the highest species diversity is found in river habitats with H’= 2.7161 and the lowest diversity is found in residential habitats H’= 1.8191.

Abstract

Birds are a group of vertebrates that play a vital role in ecosystems that support natural forest regeneration. One such species is the Yellow-crested Cockatoo. This bird is protected in Indonesia by Government Regulation and is categorized as critically endangered based on IUCN data. Kuanfatu Village is one of the areas that provides habitat for Cockatoos. This area is not a conservation area, but there are efforts to protect cockatoos through a traditional ceremony called Saeba Banu. This study aims to determine the level of vegetation regeneration in the cockatoo habitat. Data collection used a combination of methods, namely the strip and quadrant transect methods, and data analysis included vegetation analysis, namely the calculation of the Important Value Index (INP). The results showed that the vegetation in this area was dominated by Swietenia mahagoni at the seedling level with an INP of 90.11% and at the sapling level with an INP of 98.61% for the Swietenia mahagoni species.
