Abstract

The machine tools in Polman Babel's basic machining laboratory are deteriorating and are damaged due to misoperation, maintenance, and age. This study aims to identify failure problems and design a time based preventive maintenance system in the laboratory. The research was carried out with the stages of identifying problems and system requirements, system design, and system design testing. This study sets the first priority of problem solving is to design a periodic maintenance system that can be implemented in accordance with the laboratory management system. The system designed consists of maintenance plan data, annual maintenance schedule, monthly maintenance program, inspection check sheet, maintenance data sheet, machine history card, and maintenance implementation procedures. The results of the system verification and validation test indicate that the system design can be understood by laboratory managers and can be applied in educational laboratories.

Abstract

This study will try to investigate variations in the angle of the Z-direction build part by using a 3D Printer with Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology made from PLA + Sugoi. This study uses a 0.4mm nozzle with a Bowden type extruder. This study uses a PLA+ filament from the Sugoi brand with a nozzle of 0.4 mm, diameter filament 1,75 mm, 3D Printer with Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology used is Creality Ender 3 V2 with process parameter settings in slicing software using a layer thickness of 0.30 mm, Top solid Layer 5, Bottom Solid Layer 5, Fill density 100%, cooling speed 100%, and flowrate 100%, nozzle temperature 205°C, and bed temperature 60°C. Variation in angle Part build Z-direction is proven to have a significant difference in Tensile strength with a difference of 10° resulting in a difference in Tensile strength of 15 MPa, where the highest tensile strength is 67.50 MPa with part build Z-direction at an angle of 80°, and the lowest tensile strength of 52.50 MPa with a Z-direction part build angle at an angle of 70°.

Abstract

Lubricating is one of the methods to prevent temperature rise and wear due to friction among gearbox components. The lubricant quality is an essential factor in ensuring lubricant functions optimally. Long-term use of the machine changes lubricant quality, which can be measured by viscosity parameters and Total Acid Number (TAN). This research aims to determine the effect of machine operating time on viscosity and TAN lubricant changes of milling machine gearbox heads (Headstock) used for educational purposes. The study used a quantitative research method in which data was collected using statistical data analysis tools and selecting a random sampling. Forty samples of Shell Tellus 46 lubricant were taken every 5 hours for 200 operation hours with an operating temperature of 27.5-44.4°C and 300 rpm speed. Viscosity testing uses Visgage and Fluidscan to check TAN. Data analysis using a simple linear regression analysis method with the statistical software Minitab 21.3. The results showed that operating time had a significant effect on: 1) a 95% change in viscosity value with 3.67 cSt (7.39%) decline or 0.018776 cSt per operation hour; 2) 99.34% change in TAN value with 0.27 mg KOH/g (16.56%) increase or 0.001297 mg KOH/g per operation hour.

Abstract

The Split Air Conditioner (AC) unit in the PolmanBabel Mechanical Engineering Laboratory Building is used as a room cooling device for practicum students, lecturers and PLP. With such a high usage time (average usage 10 hours to 24 hours) there is a lot of possibility of damage occurring. To reduce and overcome this problem, it is planned to design a preventive maintenance system for Split AC units at the PolmanBabel Mechanical Engineering Laboratory. The design of this preventive maintenance system is based on data from several stages, starting from Split AC inventory data, interview data, Split AC maintenance data and manual book. The results of the preventive maintenance system design for Split ACs include various important elements, starting from Split AC preventive maintenance maintenance plan data, Split AC preventive maintenance schedules, maintenance checklist cards, control cards, historical maintenance or damage cards and Split AC preventive maintenance procedures. The aim of this preventive maintenance system design is so that it can be understood and understood well by equipment managers, implementers and users, so that this preventive maintenance system design can be implemented and applied to Split AC units at the PolmanBabel Mechanical Engineering Laboratory. By implementing this preventive maintenance system, it is hoped that the Split AC units at the PolmanBabel Mechanical Engineering Laboratory can operate much better so that they have a longer service life and reduce the damage that occurs.

Abstract

The final project aims to restore the function of the slotting attachment of the milling machine in the Bangka Belitung State Polman laboratory workshop which was damaged. The repair of the slotting attachment aims to optimize the performance of the slotting so that it can operate normally. The slotting repair process on the milling machine begins with identifying and analyzing the damage using the method 5 whys analysis. The damage found was damage to the slotting component, damage to the eccentric shaft, damage to the bushing, bushing. The repair process carried out was to replace damaged and worn components. From the results of the repair, the slotting attachment was able to function properly again.

Abstract

Enam unit mesin perkakas bubut di bengkel pemesinan SMKN2 Pangkalpinang rusak yang menyebabkan praktik pemesinan bubut menjadi kurang efektif dan kurang aman untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memperbaiki mesin-mesin tersebut agar ketersediaan mesin untuk praktik pemesinan bubut meningkat dengan kondisi yang memadai. Penyelesaian masalah menggunakan pendekatan perawatan korektif (Corrective Maintenance) yang meliputi tahapan identifikasi masalah dengan metode analisis akar masalah (Root Cause Analysis), perencanaan tindakan perbaikan, pelaksanaan perbaikan, pengujian hasil perbaikan, dan perancangan pemeliharaan preventif. Masalah yang ditemukan terdiri dari kerusakan sistem mekanik eretan, spindel gearbox, sistem transmisi, dan sistem kelistrikan. Tindakan perbaikan yang dilakukan meliputi perbaikan, penggantian, dan penyetelan komponen mekanik, serta rewiring dan penggantian komponen kelistrikan. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa enam unit mesin tersebut layak digunakan sebagai sarana praktik dan uji kompetensi pemesinan bubut. Beroperasinya enam unit mesin meningkatkan ketersediaan mesin sehingga praktik pemesinan bubut lebih efektif dan aman untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran.

Abstract

Bengkel Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) Sungailiat menyediakan layanan perbaikan alat produksi nelayan. Kurangnya pemeliharaan terhadap mesin-mesin yang ada menyebabkan seringnya terjadi kerusakan mesin yang berakibat pada terganggunya layanan tersebut. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengimplementasikan program pemeliharaan preventif di Bengkel PPN dengan melibatkan operator mesin melalui pendekatan pemeliharaan rutin dan berkala. Metode yang digunakan mencakup identifikasi mesin kritis, perencanaan, penjadwalan, dan pelatihan personel. Program pemeliharaan ini diterapkan pada mesin bubut dan mesin frais. Rancangan program pemeliharaan yang dihasilkan berupa kartu pemeliharaan preventif (PM check list) harian dan inspeksi berkala 6 bulanan, jadwal pemeliharaan preventif tahunan, serta pelatihan bagi personil bengkel. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa program pemeliharaan preventif ini dapat dilaksanakan dengan efektif oleh personil bengkel

Abstract

Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) merupakan metode pemeliharaan prediktif yang mengandalkan pemantauan parameter operasional untuk mendeteksi dini potensi kerusakan. Penelitian ini mengembangkan model CBM multi-parameter untuk memantau kondisi pompa sentrifugal pada sistem distribusi air bersih. Parameter yang diamati mencakup getaran, suhu, dan tekanan, yang dikumpulkan secara berkala dari empat unit pompa. Pengukuran dilakukan menggunakan vibration meter, infrared thermometer, dan manometer. Data dianalisis untuk mendeteksi tren degradasi dan anomali operasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suhu dan tekanan pada beberapa pompa mengalami fluktuasi, sedangkan nilai getaran tetap berada dalam ambang batas aman. Pompa dengan suhu dan tekanan tidak stabil berpotensi mengalami degradasi performa yang lebih cepat. Penerapan CBM memungkinkan deteksi dini terhadap potensi kegagalan, sehingga dapat mengurangi risiko downtime dan meningkatkan efisiensi pemeliharaan. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya pemantauan berbasis kondisi dalam menjaga keandalan sistem distribusi air bersih, terutama di lingkungan pendidikan yang memiliki keterbatasan anggaran pemeliharaan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pemantauan jangka panjang serta analisis lebih lanjut terhadap hubungan antara performa pompa dan konsumsi energi.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan menerapkan pemeliharaan preventif mesin penggiling kacang tanah pada UMKM Dimsum dan Siomay di Kecamatan Sungailiat agar mesin dapat dimanfaatkan secara optimal, berkelanjutan, dan mendukung stabilitas produksi jangka panjang. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan teknis-partisipatif melalui empat tahapan, yaitu observasi kondisi aktual mesin, perancangan sistem pemeliharaan preventif yang meliputi jadwal, daftar kegiatan, dan lembar cek, implementasi pemeliharaan secara langsung oleh tim pengabdi, serta evaluasi hasil untuk menyusun rekomendasi lanjutan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa kondisi awal mesin memiliki berbagai permasalahan teknis seperti screw penggiling longgar, baut sambungan kendor, debu menempel pada motor bakar, dan karat pada rangka mesin yang berdampak pada penurunan kualitas hasil gilingan dan stabilitas operasi. Implementasi pemeliharaan preventif dapat mengembalikan performa mesin mendekati kondisi optimal, serta mengurangi potensi kerusakan mendadak. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini dapat dijadikan model pemberdayaan UMKM melalui peningkatan keterampilan teknis dan pembiasaan pemeliharaan rutin untuk menjaga kualitas produk secara konsisten dan mendukung keberlanjutan usaha mereka di bidang industri makanan olahan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and repair damage to the Fehlmann P18s milling machine No. 04 used in the Mechanical Laboratory of Polman Babel. The machine was inoperable due to electrical system failure and a malfunction in the Quick Tool Change System (QTCS). A Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) method using the 5 Why analysis was applied to identify the root causes. The investigation revealed failures in electrical components such as contactors, selector switches, push buttons, fuses, capacitors, and diodes caused by unstable current. Furthermore, the QTCS could not clamp the tool holder properly due to corrosion on spindle components, bearings, and housing. The repair process involved replacing and cleaning damaged parts, followed by re-testing including geometric and functional tests. The testing showed that the machine was successfully restored to its operational state and complied with geometric precision standards. As a preventive measure, a time-based preventive maintenance plan was developed for both the electrical system and the QTCS to avoid recurring failures. This project proves that the RCFA method is effective in analyzing machine issues systematically and comprehensively.
