Abstract

The type of this research is a descriptive.   Subjects   in   this   study   were students  on  VII  semester  of  academic  year 2015-2016. This research implement scaffolding learning strategy through lesson study in  real  analysis  subject  matter,  which was held in September and October 2015. The scaffolding learning strategies present the theorems to the students, difficult but systematic and thereafter students are given assistance to complete. Results of the study are (i) the learning activities of students using scaffolding learning strategies through lesson study  on  the  analysis  of  real  subjects  each cycle are increase. (ii) the ability of students to prove theorems in real analysis are increase for   each   cycles.   Originally   a   student   in proving the theorem need help lecturers constantly but at the end of the cycle, the students become more independent in proving theorems. (iii) the confidence and activity of the students are increase to. Students become more confident when appointed by lecturers working on the white board.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difficulty of learning mathematics in solving story problems based on Newman's Error Analysis. A total of 22 students were selected by 6 students to be interviewed subjects. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of tests and interviews. Data were analyzed using miles and Huberman data analysis which included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that subjects in the high category experienced difficulties at the Transformation, Process Skill, and Encoding stages. Meanwhile, subjects with moderate categories experience difficulties in the Reading, Comprehension, Transformation, Process Skill, and Encoding stages. As well as subjects in the low category also experience difficulties in the Transformation, Process Skill, and Encoding stages.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning management skills of prospective mathematics teachers through the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. Two groups of students participated: the experimental group using the PjBL-STEAM model and the control group following conventional learning. The research instruments included a learning management competency test, a student perception questionnaire, and PjBL-STEAM-based learning materials. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (t-test and effect size) to evaluate the effectiveness of the model and examine students’ perceptions of its implementation. The results revealed a significant improvement in the learning management skills of students in the experimental group compared to the control group. The PjBL-STEAM model effectively enhanced students’ abilities in planning, implementation, evaluation, and reflection & improvement, while also promoting active engagement, creativity, and self-confidence. These findings suggest that integrating PjBL with STEAM can be an effective strategy to strengthen the pedagogical competencies of prospective mathematics teachers, preparing them to meet the demands of 21st-century education.
