Abstract

Merokok adalah penyebab kondisi tidak sehat dan kematian yang dapat dicegah. Di negara berkembang termasuk Indonesia, prevalensi perokok cukup tinggi. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang efek merokok terhadap rongga mulut dan metode yang dapat digunakan untuk menghentikan kebiasaan merokok. Keinginan untuk berhenti merokok meningkat secara drastis dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini. Dokter gigi diharapkan memiliki peran penting dalam mengupayakan strategi berhenti merokok. Metode 5A (Ask, Advise, Asses, Assist, Arrange) merupakan metode panduan yang dapat digunakan untuk kegiatan berhenti merokok. Strategi ini secara khusus dapat membantu pasien agar termotivasi untuk berhenti merokok dan merekomendasikan yang harus dilakukan selanjutnya.

Abstract

Intoduction: Health is the condition of the entire body and body parts of an individual who is free from disease both physically, mentally and socially, thus enabling the individual to be able to carry out daily activities more productively. However, many people neglect their own health, especially in the field of dental and oral health. Caries is one of the most common oral and dental problems. The prevalence of dental caries in Indonesia is high, namely 88.8%. Dental caries is caused by Streptococcus mutans bacteria which plays a role in the conversion of sucrose to lactic acid. Infection due to Streptococcus mutans bacteria can be treated by taking antibiotics. Apart from drugs, antibiotics can also be obtained from natural ingredients, one of which is the tintir castor plant (Jatropha multifida Linn) or commonly known as the betadine. Objective: To see the effect of the antibacterial content of tintir leaves against Streptococcus mutans bacteria and to determine the differences in the antibacterial effect of betadine leaf extract (Jatropha multifida L.) from a concentration of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% against Streptococcus mutans. Methods: The type of research used in this study was a laboratory experimental study with a post-test-only control group design as the research design and to test the sensitivity of bacteria using the paper disc diffusion test. Data analysis using One-Way ANOVA. Result: The results of this study indicate the effect of tintir castor leaf extract (Jatropha multifida L.) in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria.

Abstract

One of the factors that influence the success rate of hospitals is the performance of nurses. Efforts to improve nurse performance, on the other hand, are to pay attention to nurse work stress. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that cause stress on the performance of female nurses in the inpatient room. The type of research used is cross-sectional survey research using the explanatory research method. The population is 41 nurses and the entire nurse is used as the respondent (total sampling). Data were analyzed using Chi-square test and logistic regression to obtain OR (Odds Ratio). The results showed the relationship between communication and performance (p = 0.012) and OR value was 6.708 which means that communication with good communication will improve performance by 6.7 times. Saturation of performance (p = 0.006) and OR value is 6.667 means that nurses with a degree of saturation that are overcome well will improve performance by 6.6 times. Award for performance (p = 0.006) and OR value is 6.667 meaning that nurses with good recognition and recognition will improve performance by 6.6 times. Income to performance (p = 0.004) and OR value is 8.762 means that nurses with good income will increase performance by 8.7 times. However, there is no relationship between performance and performance (p = 0.091) and the OR value is 3.102 and the family for performance (p = 0.380) and OR value is 2,000. It is expected that the hospital will pay more attention to the needs and comfort of nurses in carrying out daily tasks in the hospital.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed people's habits to always maintain cleanliness. Good knowledge of the Covid-19 pandemic and oral hygiene as an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 is important to apply during this pandemic, one of which is through online education. This study aims to determine the effect of online education on the level of knowledge of Methodist-2 Kisaran junior high school children in maintaining oral hygiene during the covid-19 pandemic. This type of research is pre-experimental with one group pretest post-test design. The research sample was 50 students of Methodist-2 Private SMP students. Data was collected by dividing the questionnaire twice (pretest and post test) via smartphone. Data were analyzed using paired t test. Based on the results of the study, the average score for knowledge of Methodist-2 Private SMP children in maintaining oral hygiene during the Covid-19 pandemic before being given online education was 34.96±1.795 and after increasing to 37.38±1.383. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of online education on the level of knowledge of Methodist-2 Kisaran junior high school children in maintaining oral hygiene during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The public health center as one of the public service institutions that is influenced by the development of health science, technological advancements and the socio-economic life of the community must be able to improve quality services and satisfy customers. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the level of satisfaction of non JKN and JKN patients with dental polyclinic services at Health Center I Health Center Amplas City Medan. This research method is inductive comparative with cross sectional approach. The population is to use the average registered patient visits registered at 15,249 patients, the way of taking samples with proportional sampling of 100 respondents. The statistical test uses the Mann-Whitney U Test with the help of a statistical program on the computer. The results showed that there were differences in the level of satisfaction of non JKN patients with the level of JKN patient satisfaction in Amplas City Health Center Medan (p value = 0,000).

Abstract

Introduction; children aged 6-12 years are prone to age transition, due to changing the age of teeth with permanent teeth. Aim; know the level of knowledge and behavior of dental health and oral among elementary school students in grades 5 and 6 who have a dental health clinic and do not yet have a dental health clinic. Method; is an analytic survey research with a cross-sectional design. Analysis test using chi-square. Result; shows the level of knowledge of dental and oral health of grade 5 and 6 elementary school students who do not have a dental clinic get a value of p = 0.023. The difference in the behavior of maintaining oral health among grade 5 and 6 elementary school students who did not have a dental health clinic was p = 0.006. Conclusion; that there are differences in the level of knowledge and behavior of dental and oral health between grade 5 and 6 SD students who have a dental health clinic and those who do not have a dental health clinic

Abstract

Introduction; Streptococcus mutans is the main pathogenic bacteria that cause caries, caries treatment can be done traditionally with medicinal plants, including lemongrass and ginger. Aim; determine the comparison of the effectiveness of citronella leaf extract with ginger extract against Streptococcus mutants. Method; metabolic experimental research with a posttest-only control group design. Data collection by measuring the diameter of the zone of inhibition using shear calipers. Data were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA test. Results; showed that the average inhibitory diameter of 20% citronella extract was 12.00 ± 0.23, and 20% ginger extract was 9.00 ± 0.27 in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans, while the negative control (DMSO) had no inhibition. The conclusion is that there is a difference in the effectiveness of 20% citronella extract (Cymbopogon nardus) and 20% Curcuma (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutants.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic condition where the body's ability to produce and utilize insulin is impaired; thus, wound healing process is slower than usual in patients with DM. Lemon pepper has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to investigate the effect of topical application of lemon pepper fruit ethanol extracts on the healing process of oral traumatic ulcers in diabetic rats. This study was performed at the Pharmacology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Prima Indonesia from September 2021–October 2021. Thirty males diabetic Wistar rats were thermally injured on the lower labial mucosa and divided into five groups: control, standard, and lemon pepper gel 5%, 7.5%, and 10% groups. The ulcer size was measured after injury and on the 7th and 14th day. On the last day, all rats underwent both routine blood count and histology study for oral ulcer tissue. On the 14th day, all treatment groups showed some significant difference wound contraction, with the highest tendency of wound contraction seen in both lemon pepper gel 10% and standard groups (62.50%. p-value =0.001). The improvement of wound contraction was also supported by reduced white blood cell count (p-value<0.05) in routine blood count and regeneration of epidermis and dermis tissues in the histology study. Hence, it can be concluded that the lemon pepper extract gel in all concentrations has good physical stability and the lemon pepper gel with the highest concentration group presents the best ulcer healing activity compared to other concentrations and has similar ulcer healing activity as the standard group that receives Kenalog® in Orabase.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui manifestasi rongga mulut pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik yang menjalani hemodialisis di Rumah Sakit Rasyida Medan. Penelitian deskriptif analitik ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2018, dibagian hemodialisis Rumah Sakit Rasyida Medan. Sebanyak enam puluh enam pasien dari 265 (25%) pasien yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi menjadi subjek dalam penelitian ini. Manifestasi oral yang ditemukan sebagian besar sesuai dengan yang tertera di berbagai literatur, namun ada beberapa hal yang spesifik pada penelitian ini. Keluhan utama yang ditemukan adanya xerostomia dan tongue coating. Penelitian ini dapat menjadi dasar masukan atau informasi manifestasi oral pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik yang menjalani hemodialisis dan perlu ditindaklanjuti dengan penelitian-penelitian lain pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik yang menjalani hemodialisis.

Abstract

Salah satu program puskesmas dalam meningkatkan kesehatan gigi dan mulut dengan program UKGS yang ditujukan bagi anak usia sekolah di lingkungan sekolah dari tingkat pelayanan promotif, promotif-preventif, hingga pelayanan paripurna UKGS. Penelitian ini bertujuan ntuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan dan status kesehatan gigi dan mulut siswa pada SD yang aktif menjalankan program UKGS dengan SD yang tidak aktif menjalankan program UKGS. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan dengan desain cross sectional. Penelitian dilakukan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tanjung Rejo Kabupaten Deli Serdang pada bulan Juni sampai bulan Desember 2017 dengan pertimbangan di wilayah kerja puskesmas tersebut ditemukan SD yang aktif menjalankan program UKGS dengan SD yang tidak aktif menjalankan program UKGS. Dari seluruh SD yang terdapat di wilayah Puskesmas Tanjung Rejo, dipilih 2 SD yang mewakili pencapaian program UKGS yang aktif (SD MIS Al-Barkah) dengan UKGS tidak aktif (SD Negeri No.101777). Setelah mendapatkan sekolah yang mewakili UKGS aktif dengan UKGS tidak aktif, lalu dilakukan penentuan jumlah sampel yang diperlukan. Penentuan besar sampel menggunakan rumus uji hipotesis satu populasi dan diperoleh besar sampel sebanyak 90 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara langsung dengan memberikan kuesioner dan pemeriksaan klinis kepada sampel. Alat dan bahan yang digunakan adalah kaca mulut, sonde, pinset, ekskavator, nirbeken, gelas, air, alkohol, betadine, kapas. Pemeriksaan klinis dilakukan dengan pemeriksaan karies gigi dan dilakukan penilaian berdasarkan skor DMF-T. Analisis data menggunakan Mann-Whitney U test. Berdasarkan analisis data menggunakan Mann-Whitney U test menunjukkan ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari nilai rata-rata pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut antara sekolah program UKGS aktif dengan sekolah program UKGS tidak aktif (0,000). Ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari nilai rata-rata skor DMF-T antara sekolah program UKGS aktif dengan sekolah program UKGS tidak aktif (0,000). Nilai rata-rata pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada sekolah UKGS aktif sebesar 7,867 ± 1,517 dengan UKGS tidak aktif sebesar 5,822 ± 1,403. Nilai rata-rata skor DMF-T pada sekolah UKGS aktif sebesar 1,356 ± 0,679 dengan sekolah UKGS tidak aktif sebesar 3,778 ± 1,259.
