Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of khuruj within the Nidzamuddin faction of the Tablighi Jamaat in Bandung, Indonesia, and examines its implications for the religious behavior of its members. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, the research collected data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The analysis is framed through Max Weber’s theory of social action, which helps interpret khuruj as a form of meaningful and multidimensional religious engagement. The findings show that khuruj is not a mechanical or purely traditional ritual. It is a dynamic process shaped by affective experiences, rational calculations, and deeply held spiritual values. The practice contributes to personal religious transformation, strengthens consistency in worship, and fosters a sense of communal responsibility in religious outreach. The study also explores how internal organizational tensions, particularly the split between the Nidzamuddin and Syura Alami factions, reshaped the movement’s social structure and emphasized the role of value-based cohesion. This research contributes to the sociology of religion by showing how informal, experiential religious practices can influence identity formation and offer meaningful alternatives to formal religious education.

Abstract

Building the 864-unit housing complex was a significant construction undertaking. Within an implementation period of 18 months and a project area of approximately 34 hectares, this project demanded efficient management to control the time and budget that had been set. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to implement effective planning, organization, management and resource allocation processes. This process aims to break down project management into simpler tasks or activities, provide time estimates for each task, and continuously monitor their progress. Although conventional planning tools such as Primavera and Msproject can provide a time representation of the tasks to be performed, they are not yet able to provide spatial or geographic monitoring of these tasks within the scope of the project. By integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS), this project can gain additional benefits. GIS allows identifying data about the progress of construction tasks, and then presenting them in the form of maps. This not only visualizes overall progress graphically and geographically, but also makes it easy to extract useful summaries to support project decision making. With GIS, construction project monitoring not only becomes more efficient, but also more up-to-date and relevant to the scope of the project involving various dispersed structures. It is hoped that GIS integration can improve project management control and optimize the final results of the construction of the 864 housing complexes.

Abstract

This article discusses Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia's new member recruitment strategy after the government disbanded them through Perppu on Community Organization Number 2 of 2017. The research method used is qualitative through data collection, observation, interview, and document review. This research found that Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia changed its strategy from open recruitment to using strategies through informal groups and individuals in recruiting members behind closed doors, especially after they were banned by the government in 2017, namely through the student movement, through the activities of figures in mosques, and women. According to HTI, these three strategies have a safe tendency because they can be done secretly and escape the control of the government and mass organizations that oppose them. According to HTI, the student movement is considered necessary because they are educated citizens who have the potential to become agents of change in society. Meanwhile, the mosque is the center of Muslim activity, where the recruitment of DKM administrators, preachers, and congregants can accelerate the preaching of the Khilafah. Meanwhile, the use of women as another HTI recruitment agent is done because the HTI doctrine believes in the importance of women as pillars of civilization. This article argues that although the government has banned HTI, they are still fighting back, mainly through invisible and covert means.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' cognitive, affective, and conative responses to the use of modeling as scaffolding in EFL. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, involving two English teachers and six students in a junior high school. Data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and student interviews, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that modeling as a supporter produces interrelated learning responses. Cognitively, modeling helps students grasp material more quickly, recognize language patterns, and generate examples independently. Affectively, modeling creates a comfortable learning atmosphere, reduces students' anxiety, and increases their confidence during the learning process. Conatively, modeling encourages students to take concrete actions, such as actively completing assignments, asking questions, participating in discussions, taking notes, and demonstrating a willingness to answer questions or perform in front of the class. These responses indicate that modeling not only supports students' understanding but also their emotional engagement and learning behaviors. The study concludes that modeling is an effective and holistic support strategy in EFL teaching, as it simultaneously influences students' cognitive understanding, emotional responses, and learning actions. These findings are expected to contribute to pedagogical practice and provide insights for teachers in implementing responsive support strategies in EFL classrooms.

Abstract

This study investigated differences in English pronunciation accuracy among students with high, medium, and low learning motivation who were taught using the YouGlish web tool through the shadowing technique and those taught without it. It also examined the interaction effect between instructional method and learning motivation on pronunciation accuracy. Employing an experimental 2×3 factorial post-test-only design, the study involved first-semester students of the English Education Department at the State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. Two classes totaling 60 students were selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected through a pronunciation test after four treatment sessions and analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The results showed that the use of YouGlish through shadowing did not produce significant differences in pronunciation accuracy across varying levels of learning motivation. Additionally, no significant interaction effect was found between the teaching method and students’ motivation levels. Although learning motivation contributed to pronunciation performance, its effect was not statistically significant. These findings indicate that the effectiveness of YouGlish-assisted shadowing practice in improving pronunciation accuracy was not significantly influenced by students’ learning motivation, suggesting that other factors may play a more substantial role in determining pronunciation development.
