Abstract

Abstract: The Composite Index Of Anthropometric Failure (CIAF) or composite of malnutrition or growth failure in children under five is a picture of the problem of child malnutrition from the past to the present. Kampar Health Center is the highest health center for nutritional problems in toddlers in Kampar Regency. The purpose of the study was to determine the correlation of feeding patterns and exclusive breastfeeding history with nutritional status based on the composite index of anthropometric failure (CIAF) in children 24-59 months. The research design used in this study was cross sectional. The research was conducted at the Kampar Health Center. The research was conducted in August 2022. The sample amounted to 288 people. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate. The results showed there was a relationship between feeding patterns (p value: 0.004) and exclusive breastfeeding history (p value: 0.032) to nutritional status in toddlers. It is suggested to the Puskesmas that it is necessary to increase counseling by health workers to mothers about proper and correct feeding patterns according to the age of the child so that they can meet adequate intake and optimal nutritional status. Keywords: Exclusive breastfeeding, toddlers, feeding patterns.

Abstract

Abstract: Stunting, or short stature, is a common nutritional problem among children in many countries. Stunting refers to chronic malnutrition that results in a child's height not being appropriate for their age. The Geragai area is the area with the highest incidence of stunting in Jambi City, namely 262 children aged 0-59 months who are stunted with a prevalence of 24.58%. The purpose of the study was to determine the correlation of maternal factors with the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-59 months. This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The sample amounted to 73 people. The sampling technique used Stratified Proportional Sampling. The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal knowledge (p value: 0.000) and the incidence of stunting. It is expected that the Puskesmas can increase public knowledge through preventive actions and health promotion to the community and conduct counseling to cadres in each village, then increase breastfeeding counseling to pregnant women, adolescents, or prospective brides. Keywords: Toddlers, Maternal Knowledge, Stunting

Abstract

Hypertension and hypercholesterolemia are common health problems in Argo Mulyo Village, Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser Regency. These diseases require a preventive approach through the utilization of family medicinal plants (TOGA) such as ginger, turmeric, and temulawak, which have been proven effective in reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This empowerment activity aims to increase community knowledge, particularly among the TP-PKK group, regarding the use of TOGA as a preventive measure against hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. The activity was conducted on September 7-8, 2024, in Argo Mulyo Village. The methods used included education, training on the production of herbal powder from ginger, turmeric, and temulawak, and the planting of TOGA in the village land. Evaluation was carried out through pretest and posttest assessments to measure the participants' knowledge improvement. The results of the educational activity related to hypertension and hypercholesterolemia showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with an average pretest score of 60.23 rising to 76.51 in the posttest. The results of the herbal powder-making activity also showed an improvement in knowledge, with the pretest average score at 71.76 and 92.94 in the posttest. Additionally, the herbal powder products produced by the participants met the established standards. The planting of TOGA in the village land was also successfully implemented, indicating the success of this activity in raising community awareness and skills in utilizing local resources. In conclusion, this TOGA-based empowerment not only contributes to improving community health but also holds the potential to enhance economic welfare through herbal production.
