Abstract

Puskesmas Kampar Kiri Tengah is one of the health centers in the working area of the Kampar Regency Health Office which has an increase in the incidence of dyspepsia from 2019 to 2020, namely from 100 cases to 364 cases and dyspepsia disease ranks fifth out of the ten most common diseases at the Puskesmas. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between stress and diet with the incidence of dyspepsia. The research method used a cross sectional research design. The population in this study were all patients who visited the Kampar Kiri Tengah Health Center, Kampar Regency in the period January to June 2021, totaling 355 people with a sample of 78 people. The data collection technique used purposive sampling. The research instrument used a research questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate. The results showed that there was a relationship between stress levels (p value: 0.001) and diet (p value: 0.000) with the incidence of dyspepsia. It is suggested that dyspepsia sufferers should prevent dyspepsia starting from maintaining a proper diet. The amount is in accordance with the needs, the type is also diverse, equipped with a regular schedule. In accordance with what is summarized in the 3 right movement (right time, right nutrition and right solution) and for Puskesmas to be able to maintain and improve the quality of existing health services by always conducting counseling on how to prevent dyspepsia.Keywords: Dyspepsia, Stress Level, Diet

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas Kelompok Wanita Tani melalui pelatihan pengolahan daun kelor menjadi keripik stik dan teh herbal. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi edukasi tentang manfaat kesehatan dan gizi dari daun kelor, pelatihan teknis pengolahan daun kelor menjadi produk bernilai tambah berupa keripik stik dan teh, serta serah terima peralatan produksi kepada kelompok wanita tani. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan tentang kandungan gizi daun kelor serta keterampilan dalam memproduksi keripik stik dan teh herbal dengan proses yang lebih efisien. Selain itu, peralatan yang diserahkan mendukung proses produksi yang lebih optimal, sehingga kelompok tani dapat meningkatkan kapasitas produksi dan kualitas produk. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam pengolahan daun kelor serta memberikan landasan yang kuat untuk memulai usaha berbasis produk olahan kelor di tingkat rumah tangga.

Abstract

Abstract: Anxiety disorders are one of the most common forms of mental disorders found in society, and are not only experienced by adults, but also often occur in children and adolescents. The purpose of the study was to determine the correlation of physical activity with anxiety levels in patients with anxiety disorders. The research design used in this study was cross sectional. The research was conducted in 3 high schools in Tangerang City. The research was conducted in July 2024. The sample amounted to 101 students. The sampling technique used in this study was Simple Random Sampling. Data analysis was done univariate and bivariate. The results showed a relationship between physical activity (p value: 0.004) on the level of anxiety disorders in adolescents. It is recommended for adolescents to routinely do physical activity as an effort to maintain mental health.Keywords: Physical Activity, Anxiety, Adolescents.

Abstract

Hypertension and hypercholesterolemia are common health problems in Argo Mulyo Village, Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser Regency. These diseases require a preventive approach through the utilization of family medicinal plants (TOGA) such as ginger, turmeric, and temulawak, which have been proven effective in reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This empowerment activity aims to increase community knowledge, particularly among the TP-PKK group, regarding the use of TOGA as a preventive measure against hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. The activity was conducted on September 7-8, 2024, in Argo Mulyo Village. The methods used included education, training on the production of herbal powder from ginger, turmeric, and temulawak, and the planting of TOGA in the village land. Evaluation was carried out through pretest and posttest assessments to measure the participants' knowledge improvement. The results of the educational activity related to hypertension and hypercholesterolemia showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with an average pretest score of 60.23 rising to 76.51 in the posttest. The results of the herbal powder-making activity also showed an improvement in knowledge, with the pretest average score at 71.76 and 92.94 in the posttest. Additionally, the herbal powder products produced by the participants met the established standards. The planting of TOGA in the village land was also successfully implemented, indicating the success of this activity in raising community awareness and skills in utilizing local resources. In conclusion, this TOGA-based empowerment not only contributes to improving community health but also holds the potential to enhance economic welfare through herbal production.

Abstract

High consumption of carbonated soft drinks (CSD) has caused risks of metabolic syndrome, obesity, various chronic diseases, and organ damage. Kersen has the potential to prevent and reduce damage to the liver caused by CSD. The study aimed to analyze the liver histopathological of mice given CSD and the effect of Kersen leaf extract. This experimental study used a completely randomized design with 25 male white mice divided into 5 groups, namely control grup (K), negative control (N), treatment 1, 2, and 3 with doses (35 mg/30g BW, 45 mg/30g BW, 65 mg/30g BB) for 30 days. The sample was terminated on the 31st day, and the liver organs were prepared to observe the microscopic of the liver. The analytical test used the ANOVA test with Duncan's multiple-range test. The results showed that the negative control group had significantly lower numbers of liver cell damage than the positive controls who were given CSD (p<0.05), and the treatment groups 2 and 3 also had significantly less cell damage than the positive control group and did not significantly different from the negative control group. Kersen leaf extract can prevent and reduce liver cell damage in carbonated soft drink-induced mice.   Keywords:          Liver, Histopathology, Kersen, Mice, Soft drink   Abstrak Konsumsi minuman berkarbonasi/ carbonated soft drink (CSD) yang berlebih berisiko menyebabkan terjadinya sindrom metabolik, obesitas, berbagai penyakit kronis, dan kerusakan organ. Kersen berpotensi mencegah dan mengurangi kerusakan pada hati yang disebabkan oleh CSD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat gambaran histopatologi hati mencit yang diberikan minuman CSD dan efek pemberian ekstrak daun kersen. Penelitian experimental ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 25 mencit putih jantan yang dibagi 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol (K), kontrol negatif (N), perlakuan 1, 2, dan 3 dengan dosis (35 mg/30g BB, 45 mg/30g BB, 65 mg/30g BB) selama 30 hari. Sampel diterminasi pada hari ke 31 dan organ hepar dibuat preparat untuk diamati gambaran mikroskopis hati. Uji analisis menggunakan uji beda ANOVA dengan uji lanjut Duncan’s multiple-range test. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa kelompok kontrol negatif memiliki jumlah kerusakan sel hati yang signifikan lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan kontrol positif yang diberikan CSD (p<0.05) dan kelompok perlakuan 2 dan 3 juga signifikan memiliki jumlah kerusakan sel yang lebih sedikit dibandingkan kelompok kontrol positif serta tidak berbeda signifikan dengan kelompok kontrol negatif. Ekstrak daun kersen memberikan pengaruh terhadap pencegahan dan mengurangi kerusakan sel hati pada mencit putih yang diberikan CSD.   Kata Kunci:         Hepar, Histopatologi, Kersen, Mencit, Carbonated Soft Drink

Abstract

Bukit Merdeka Village has great potential for the development of pineapple commodities; however, the utilization of pineapple peel waste remains suboptimal and is often regarded as mere waste. The management of food waste has become a critical issue due to its negative impact on health and the environment, where food waste is often discarded without further utilization. The objective of this community service activity is to educate the public about the dangers and potential benefits of food waste, with the hope of reducing waste, increasing economic welfare through innovation, and encouraging the people of Bukit Merdeka Village to better understand and optimize the use of food waste creatively and productively. This activity was conducted through lectures and interactive discussions involving all members of the PKK in Bukit Merdeka Village. Participants were also asked to take pre-tests and post-tests to measure their understanding before and after the education. There was a significant increase in the post-test results compared to the pre-test, with the average score of participants rising from 56.0 ± 3.2 to 84.6 ± 1.7. These results indicate that the education provided successfully improved participants' understanding of the dangers of food waste and how to utilize it. This educational activity successfully raised awareness and improved community skills in managing food waste, as well as opened economic opportunities through the utilization of pineapple peel waste.

Abstract

Perilaku makan remaja di Indonesia cenderung ke pangan olahan, jajanan tinggi gula, garam, lemak, serta minuman berpemanis di sekitar sekolah sehingga risiko kelebihan berat badan dan transisi gizi makin cepat. Edukasi membaca label dan penerapan front-of-pack label (FOPL) yang menandai kandungan GGL tinggi dinilai murah dan efektif. Review ini menelaah >20 uji acak terkendali pada remaja SMP/SMA di Indonesia periode Januari 2015–Oktober 2025 yang ditelusuri melalui Garuda, Neliti, SINTA, OJS kampus, DOAJ, PubMed, dan Google Scholar. Dari 214 rekaman, 23 artikel memenuhi kriteria karena membandingkan kelompok intervensi dan kontrol serta mengukur pengetahuan, sikap, intensi, atau perilaku. Edukasi kelas menaikkan pengetahuan 6,5–32,4 poin dan menurunkan intensi konsumsi pangan tidak sehat 8–28%, sedangkan label peringatan di kemasan/kantin menggeser pilihan aktual 4–7 poin. Efek terbaik muncul saat edukasi dipadukan media visual, namun pelaporan randomisasi dan follow-up masih lemah, sehingga diperlukan RCT multisit terstandar untuk menghasilkan rekomendasi kebijakan gizi sekolah yang lebih presisi.

Abstract

Background : Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes mellitus (DM), cardiovascular diseases, and obesity continue to increase due to rapid nutrition transition toward diets high in saturated fat, sugar, and processed foods. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) represents a significant global burden, affecting more than 537 million adults and projected to reach 780 million by 2045. Dietary modification—particularly adequate intake of high-quality protein, complex carbohydrates, and fiber—is essential for glycemic control. Indonesia has abundant underutilized plant resources with functional potential, including cempedak seeds rich in resistant starch and antioxidants, and red beans containing high protein, fiber, and phenolic compounds. Combining these two local ingredients may support the development of functional snack products beneficial for diabetes management. Objective : To formulate and evaluate snack bars made from cempedak seed and red bean flours, determine the most acceptable formulation, analyze proximate composition, and assess their nutritional potential for supporting glycemic control. Research Methods / Implementation Methods : This experimental study used a factorial completely randomized design with four formulations differing in flour composition. Research was conducted in March 2025 at Universitas Mulawarman. Cempedak seeds and red beans were processed into flour, then mixed with brown rice flour and natural binders before being molded and baked. Sensory evaluation was conducted by 42 untrained panelists using a seven-point hedonic scale. Proximate analysis followed AOAC (2019) standards. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan’s test (p < 0.05). Results : Significant differences were found across formulations. Formula F2 (25 g cempedak seed flour, 50 g red bean flour, 25 g brown rice flour) achieved the highest acceptability, with scores of 5.43 for taste and 5.39 for overall liking. The combination improved texture, flavor balance, and color. Nutritionally, F2 contained 321 kcal, 14.52 g protein, 9.28 g fat, 47.82 g carbohydrates, and 6.56 g dietary fiber per 100 g. Its high protein and fiber content supports glycemic regulation and satiety, while resistant starch and phenolic compounds enhance its functional potential. These findings align with previous research recommending moderate-energy, high-fiber, and high-protein foods for diabetes management. Conclusion / Lesson Learned : Formula F2 provided the best sensory and nutritional profile, indicating strong potential as a functional food for diabetes management. This study demonstrates the feasibility of using local, underutilized ingredients to create health-promoting snack products. Further studies should evaluate glycemic index, antioxidant stability, and physiological effects to optimize product development and support sustainable nutrition strategies.

Abstract

Remaja merupakan kelompok usia yang rentan terhadap masalah gizi, terutama anemia defisiensi zat besi, yang dapat menurunkan konsentrasi belajar, daya tahan tubuh, dan prestasi akademik. Di wilayah pesisir Kabupaten Berau, pola konsumsi remaja cenderung rendah zat besi meskipun tersedia sumber pangan lokal yang kaya gizi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan gizi dan kesadaran pencegahan anemia melalui program pemberdayaan remaja di SMA Negeri 9 Berau. Pelaksanaan dilakukan pada tanggal 27 November 2024 dengan pendekatan edukasi partisipatif berbasis sekolah. Metode mencakup pretest pengetahuan, penyuluhan interaktif mengenai gizi seimbang dan pangan lokal kaya zat besi, pemeriksaan kadar hemoglobin, serta posttest pengetahuan. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata skor pengetahuan siswa sebesar 58,2 persen dan mayoritas memperoleh nilai posttest tinggi. Pemeriksaan hemoglobin mengungkapkan 51,1 persen siswa mengalami anemia, lebih tinggi pada perempuan dibanding laki-laki. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa edukasi partisipatif efektif meningkatkan literasi gizi remaja, namun perubahan perilaku makan membutuhkan intervensi berkelanjutan. Program ini penting untuk membangun perilaku hidup sehat dan mendukung penurunan prevalensi anemia pada remaja di wilayah pesisir.
