Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Anthropometry is essential in identifying biological profiles, including height. One of the most commonly used anthropometric data to estimate height is the length of the humerus bone. This study analyzes the correlation between humeral length and height among medical students at UNJA. Methods: This study is an analytical correlational study conducted cross-sectionally. The sample consisted of male and female students who met the inclusion criteria: active medical students at UNJA who were willing to participate by signing an informed consent form. The exclusion criteria included deformities, a history of injuries, or bone disabilities. The humeral length was measured using a measuring tape, and height was measured using a microtoise. Results: The study found a correlation coefficient between humeral length and height ranging from 0.660 to 0.788 (p < 0.001). The simple linear regression equation obtained showed a Standard Error of the Estimation (SEE) ranging from 3.802 to 4.912 (p < 0.001). Conclusion: A strong positive correlation exists between humerus length and height, indicating that height can be estimated by measuring humerus length and applying it to the simple linear regression equation. Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Since the Covid-19 pandemic took place worldwide, distance learning has replaced traditional face-to-face learning in the classroom. Therefore, it is necessary to innovate learning media that can support the student learning process. The learning media innovation carried out in this study was making a video on the practice of making MPASI. Methods: Evaluation of learning media using a questionnaire given to media experts, material experts, and users (students). Results: There were two media experts, two material experts, and 35 users (students) who were respondents to this study. All media experts agree that learning media can be used, but one media expert still suggests revisions for the future. All material experts agree that learning media can be used without revision. All users (students) agree that learning media can be used, but 12 users (34.3%) suggest revisions to learning media for the future. Conclusion: The current learning media can be used, but it still requires a slight improvement in the future. Keywords: Learning media innovation, MPASI, Covid-19 ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Sejak terjadinya pandemi covid-19 yang berlangsung diseluruh dunia, pembelajaran jarak jauh telah menggantikan pembelajaran tatap muka tradional di dalam kelas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: One of the procedures in making histological preparations is histotechnics. This tissue processing procedure consists of fixation, dehydration, clarification, embedding, blocking, block cutting, and coloring. The media commonly used for embedding and embedding is paraffin. However, paraffin wax contains up to 11 carcinogenic compounds, so an alternative is needed by using beeswax. This study aims to determine whether super grade beeswax can be used as an alternative to paraffin wax in the embedding process. Methods: This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive analytic research design of an experimental type. The subject of this research was the long-tailed monkey (Macaca Fascicularis) organ. Samples were made of 10 preparations using paraffin and 10 beeswax preparations which would be assessed by the parameters of cell nucleus staining, cytoplasmic staining, color clarity and staining uniformity. The results of all parameters are summed and analyzed using the Mann Whiteney differential test. Results: The quality of histological preparations using beeswax showed adequate staining. The results were analyzed using the Mann Whitney statistical test on samples using paraffin and beeswax each obtained (p > 0.05) which showed that there was no difference. Conclusion: Beeswax can be used as an alternative to paraffin. Further research on block storage resistance and research on other tests such as immunohistochemistry is necessary. Keywords: Embedding, Beeswax, Paraffin ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Salah satu prosedur dalam membuat sediaan histologi adalah histoteknik.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a serious global health problem and a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Dietary patterns, including high-fat intake and obesity, are modifiable risk factors strongly associated with hypertension. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between fat intake and obesity with hypertension among men aged 35–54 years at Simpang IV Sipin Public Health Center. Methods: This study used an analytical observational design with a case-control approach. A total of 100 participants were included, consisting of 50 hypertensive cases and 50 controls. Fat intake was assessed using a 2×24-hour food recall and processed with NutriSurvey, while obesity was determined by BMI ≥ 25 kg/m². Data were analyzed using Chi-square and logistic regression. Results: A significant relationship was found between fat intake and hypertension (p < 0.001; AOR = 49.8, 95% CI: 8.35–297.11). There was no significant relationship between obesity and hypertension after multivariate analysis (p = 0.070; AOR = 4.47, 95% CI: 0.89–22.58). Conclusion: High fat intake is a dominant risk factor for hypertension in this population, while obesity showed no significant association after adjustment.
