Abstract

Diet merupakan salah satu cara menjaga pola makan yang sehat. Yang terpenting adalah pembagian proporsi yangseimbang antara berbagai kandungan nutrisi pada makanan yang dikonsumsi dengan kebutuhan tubuh. Pengaturan diet penyakit diet penyakit Diabetes Mellitus untuk membantu pasien memperbaiki kebiasaan makannya. Prinsip diet Diabetes Melitus dapat dilakukan dengan tetap menjaga pola makan sesuai dengan aturan jumlah, jenis, dan jadwal makan. Studi kasus ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan proses asuhan gizi klinis pada pasien diabetes melitus dengan tuberculosis, hiperbilirubinemia, dan cholelithiasis. Pengambilan studi kasus pada pasien rawat inap di RS X Surabaya yang dilakukan pada Oktober 2023. Monitoring dan evaluasi dilakukan selama tiga hari pada tanggal 17, 18, dan 19 Oktober 2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode obsevasional analitik dengan melakukan pengkajian gizi terhadap satu pasien rawat inap di Rumah Sakit X Surabaya pada Oktober 2023. Ditemukan hasil bahwa rata-rata asupan normal meskipun terdapat asupan zat gizi makro yang belum memenuhi target kebutuhan harian dari intervensi yang diberikan. Kondisi fisik klinis pasien mulai membaik meskipun pasien masih mual. Pemberian tekstur makanan pada pasien diberikan berdasarkan syarat diet dalam bentuk biasa untuk mempermudah penerimaan asupan makanan pasien yang dilakukan monitorin terkait asupan makanannya. Diet diabetes melitus dapat dilanjutkan untuk memperbaiki kondisi pasien dan pola makan pasien. Pembatasan gula dilakukan dengan upaya tidak memicu kenaikan gula darah. Pemberian zat gizi yang lain seperti karbohidrat, protein, dan lemak perlu diberikan sesuai jenis dan kebutuhan pasien untuk menghindari komplikasi dan memperparah kondisi pasien.

Abstract

Introduction: The role of nutrition in athletic performance is crucial. However, the nutritional requirements and literacy levels vary among athletes across different sports disciplines and influenced by various factors. Aims: This study investigates how nutrition literacy varies among athletes in different sports, exploring the factors, and examines the correlation between athletes' nutrition literacy levels and their use of ergogenic aids. Methods: This study employed a systematic literature review following the PRISMA method. Conducting searches across databases Scopus and PubMed using keywords including "nutrition literacy", "nutrition knowledge", "athletes", "sports", and "ergogenic." Results: Total of 18 selected articles show that nutrition literacy involves understanding food and nutrition to make informed dietary decisions, crucial for overall health. Enhanced literacy leads to healthier behaviors, particularly important for athletes. Variations in nutrition literacy among athletes across different sports disciplines are crucial for performance and well-being. Coaching emphasis, sport-specific demands, athlete demographics, and supplement use contribute to these variations, highlighting the importance of tailored education programs. Understanding athletes' knowledge and utilization of these aids, as well as their dietary practices, offers valuable insights into optimizing athletes’ performance. Factors such as the type of sport, individual preferences, and the availability of nutritional information play crucial roles in shaping athletes' decisions regarding ergogenic aid use. Conclusion: The connection between athletes' nutrition literacy and their use of ergogenic aids underscores the importance of tailored education and personalized nutrition plans for optimizing performance and well-being in sports.

Abstract

Introduction: Health practitioners have tried to reduce the prevalence of diabetes mellitus, which increases globally every year, but the result has not been optimal yet. Meanwhile, the indigenous people of the Dayak tribe from Borneo Island of Indonesia believe that the Bajakah plant (Spatolobus littoralis Hassk) can treat many diseases, including reducing blood glucose. However, the effect of the Bajakah stem plant extract on blood glucose regulation is still vague. Aims: Therefore, our animal-experimental research aimed to test the effect of the Bajakah stem plant extract using streptozotocin-induced Wistar male rats. Methods: We grouped the rats into K1, K2 (negative and positive control groups, respectively), P1, P2, and P3 (with additional Bajakah stem extract 50, 100, and 150 mg/kg body weight, respectively), with each group consisted of five rats. We collected blood glucose and insulin level at baseline (T1) and end of the intervention (T2). Results: This study found the highest mean ± standard deviation of insulin level was in the C2 group (5.10±0.84 µU/mL) and the lowest value in the X3 group (3.65±0.41 µU/mL). However, we found a significant difference in the blood glucose level at baseline and the end of the intervention (p<0.001). The highest reduction means value on blood glucose level was in the X3 group (T1: 471.40±89.24 mg/dL; T2: 122.80±12.50 mg/dL). Conclusion: The Bajakah stem plant's extract intervention affects the blood glucose level of Wistar male rats, possibly through the free radical's protection effect on the target cell receptor that binds to insulin and glucose.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between fruit and vegetable intake, physical activity, nutritional status, and social interaction among the academic community at Polkesbaya Corner, a health-promotion facility developed by Poltekkes Kemenkes Surabaya as part of the “Healthy Campus Initiative.” Polkesbaya Corner serves as a campus-based innovation designed to integrate nutrition education, physical activity, and social engagement, supporting the 3rd Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-being). A cross-sectional study was conducted among 363 respondents selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), 24-hour dietary recall, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), anthropometric measurements, and sociometric observation. A statistical association was observed between social interaction and nutritional status (p = 0.024), whereas fruit and vegetable intake and physical activity were not significantly associated with this outcome. Overall, 52.3% of respondents had normal nutritional status, while 31.7% were overweight. Most participants performed light physical activity (79.3%) and consumed sautéed vegetables (74.1%) and sliced fruits (68.9%). These findings highlight the crucial role of social engagement in promoting healthy behaviors within the campus environment. Therefore, Polkesbaya Corner can serve as a “living laboratory” to foster a culture of health by integrating nutrition education, physical activity, and social participation—supporting the national health promotion agenda and the achievement of SDG 3.

Abstract

Bencana hidrometeorologi sering kali mengganggu ketahanan pangan, terutama pada populasi rentan seperti bayi dan anak-anak. Di Aceh Tamiang, sebagai salah satu wilayah yang paling terdampak bencana tersebut, pemenuhan asupan gizi yang memadai bagi anak-anak menjadi tantangan yang krusial. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan praktik pemberian makan bayi dan anak yang tepat sesuai dengan standar Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) dalam situasi darurat. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penggalangan dana untuk pengadaan bahan pangan bergizi, persiapan makanan berdasarkan standar IYCF, edukasi gizi kepada pengasuh, serta distribusi makanan kepada keluarga terdampak. Penerima manfaat terdiri dari anak usia 6–8 bulan (7 anak), 9–11 bulan (7 anak), dan 12–23 bulan (46 anak). Program ini memastikan penyediaan gizi esensial secara segera sekaligus memperkuat ketahanan masyarakat melalui peningkatan ketahanan pangan pada periode kritis. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya strategi tanggap bencana yang terintegrasi yang mencakup dukungan gizi yang terarah bagi populasi rentan.

Abstract

Background: The trend of food types has transitioned during the Covid-19 pandemic. The food transition trend affects all people, including the first-year students at university. The food transition is a basic of the diet pattern transition process. Students are obligated to study from home during the pandemic, which means they are more likely to sit in front of the screen. Meanwhile, the pandemic is related to the disturbance of mental health outcomes such as stress.   Objectives: This study was aimed to determine the relationship between food choices and consumption pattern, nutritional status, and stress among the first-year university students in Surabaya. Methods: This research used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 123 first-year university students. Sampling using a simple random sampling method. Data was collected by self-reported online questionnaire including variables of respondents' characteristics, reason food choices, consumption pattern (score and level consumption of foods), nutritional status (body weight and height), and stress. Collected data were analyzed using the Chi-Square Test.  Results: The results showed that respondents who reported stress were 13 (10.57%) students. Our study found that the food choices (e.g., health and convenience) (p = 0,007- 0.016), score of consumption of carbohydrates (p = 0,016) are significantly different between the one who reported stress and the one who did not report any stress.Conclusions: The stress reduction management could be optimized by awareness of the macronutrient intake control to prevent overweight among university students.

Abstract

Background: TNI AD has role as national defense to protect the state from military theats. The duties of TNI AD are to maintain state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and state security. Excellent physical condition is needed to perform their duties that prioritize vigorous physical activity. Every six months, TNI AD conduct physical test to assess their fitness and strenght. Soldier who has low score on physical test are recommended to take physical training and adjust their diet Objectives: The purposes of this study is to analyze macronutrients intake and body weight alteration on the Kavaleri TNI AD soldiers with weight loss diet in Bandung and Jakarta. Methods: This research was a case-control study and was conducted online using google form that was distributed through commanders in the Yonkav 4/KC Bandung, Yonkav 7/PS Jakarta, and Denkavkud Bandung. The number of samples are 43 respondents with purposive sampling. Research instruments were SQ-FFQ to measure macronutrient intake in one month and IPAQ-SF to determine the physical activity level. The results of macronutrient intake were compared with AKG 2019 and their nutritional requirement. Results: the results showed that majority of respondents had deficit macronutrients intake. The median of energy fulfillment is 50.44% of energy requirement. From this intake level, there is significant reduction in body weight (p<0.001) with median difference is 2 kg. Conclusion: The diet tended to be in calorie deficit and could lose weight significantly (p<0.001). nutritionist assistance is needed to give diet recommendation.

Abstract

Latar Belakang; Stunting adalah kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak balita (Bayi bawah lima tahun) akibat dari kekurangan gizi kronis sehingga anak terlalu pendek untuk usianya. Balita yang mengalami stunting akan memiliki tingkat kecerdasan yang tidak maksimal, menjadikan anak menjadi lebih rentan terhadap penyakit, dan pada saat dewasa dapat beresiko pada menurunnya tingkat produktivitas . Stunting tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh satu faktor saja melainkan lebih dari satu faktor (multifaktor) diantaranya adalah kondisi ekonomi keluarga, pendidikan orang tua, pendapatan orangtua, ketahanan pangan rumah tangga, nutrisi ibu saat hamil, nutrisi 1000 HPK, asupan makanan dan penyakit infeksi.Tujuan: untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan antara ketahanan pangan rumah tangga dengan kejadian stunting pada balita usia 24-59 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sumberaji, Kabupaten Lamongan.Metode: Penelitian cross sectional ini melibatkan 83 balita yang dipilih secara sengaja didasarkan pada pemilihan suatu karakteristik dengan teknik purposive sampling. Proses pengambilan data dilakukan melalui wawancara untuk variabel ketahanan pangan rumah tangga dan pengukuran antropometri untuk variabel stunting. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu dengan uji statistik regresi logistik. Variabel bebas dari penelitian ini yaitu ketahanan pangan rumah tangga sedangkan variabel terikat dari penelitian ini yaitu stunting.Hasil: Hasil penelitian didapatkan 29 balita memiliki status gizi stunting (34,9%) dan 54 balita memiliki status gizi normal (65,1%). Selain itu, juga didapatkan jumlah rumah tangga tahan pangan 51,8%, rawan pangan tanpa kelaparan 28,9%, dan rawan pangan dengan kelaparan 18,1%. Berdasarkan uji regresi logistik rumah tangga rawan pangan tanpa kelaparan tidak berhubungan secara signifikan dengan kejadian stunting (p= 219). Sedangkan pada rumah tangga rawan pangan dengan kelaparan berhubungan positif signifikan dengan kejadian stunting (p<0,001), baik pada model yang tidak disesuaikan maupun pada model yang disesuaikan (β-Koefisien: 77,14 (95%CI: 8,72-682,53) ke (β-Koefisien: 87,70 (95%CI: 9,57-804,12) ke (β-Koefisien: 153,41 (95%CI: 11,46-2053,61).Kesimpulan: penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara ketahanan pangan rumah tangga dengan kejadian stunting. Oleh karena itu, perlu diberikan pendidikan gizi tentang pencegahan stunting, khususnya bagi masyarakat dengan kerawanan pangan rumah tangga. Kata Kunci: stunting, ketahanan pangan, balita

Abstract

Background: Menarche is the first menstruation experienced by adolescent girls. The age of menarche in Indonesia has decreased from 13 years in 2010 to 12.4 years in 2018. The age of menarche is influenced by internal and external factors, some of the factors are macronutrient intake, physical activity, and nutritional status. The decrease in age at menarche is associated with an increased likelihood of uterine myoma, dysmenorrhea, and breast cancer. Objectives: To analyze the relationship between macronutrient intake, physical activity, nutritional status and age at menarche in adolescents Girl 9-15 years old. Methods: This research used cross sectional design with sample size of 87 adolescent girls who had experienced menstruation and selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected by macronutrient intake used Semi-Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQFFQ), physical activity used Short Form International Physical Activity Questionnaire (SF-IPAQ), anthropometric data to assess nutritional status through measurement of body weight and height and age of menarche used a self-report questionnaire. Data was analyzed by t-test, chi-square and linear regression with 95% confidence level. Result: There was a significant relationship between fat intake (­p = 0,049) and nutritional status (β = -0.92, p <0.001) with the age of menarche. The results of the analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between energy intake (p = 0,058), protein intake (p = 0,178), carbohydrate intake (p = 0,099), and physical activity (p = 0,422) with age at menarche. Conclusions: fat intake and nutritional status during adolescence is related to the age of menarche. Prevention for cancer in women should be carried out as early as possible when adolescent girls have not menarche. One of prevention is managing the nutritional status of adolescent girls by paying attention to diet. Abstract

Background: The current condition of people's food consumption still does not meet the balanced nutrition guidelines because the Indonesian population is still classified as lacking in consuming vegetables and fruit. Previous research stated that students were classified as lacking in consumption of vegetables and fruit during the pandemic. Students undergoing distance learning encourage increased use of mobile devices and health-related searches. Objective: To analyze the relationship between nutrition-related health literacy and vegetable and fruit consumption patterns in college students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. The research was conducted online using a google form which was distributed through social media. The number of samples in this study was 150 people with the purposive sampling method. The instruments used are SFLQ to determine the level of health literacy related to nutrition and SQ-FFQ to measure the pattern of eating vegetables and fruits in one month. Results: The results showed that late teens (58.6%), girls (46.0%), early year students (29.7%), and students in non-health studies (26.0%) were classified as having less vegetable consumption. and fruit. Nutrition-related health literacy related to vegetables and fruit consumption during COVID-19 pandemic Conclusion: The majority of Airlangga University students during the COVID-19 pandemic had a sufficient level of consumption of vegetables and fruit and good literacy. There was a significant relationship between gender (p=0.007) and health literacy related to nutrition (p=0.002) with consumption patterns of vegetables and fruit.
