Abstract

The study aims to analyze and describe how the consumption patterns of K-Pop idola fans in consuming photocards and what is the impact of the consumerity of K-Pop idol fans.This research was conducted on K-Pop fans in Bekasi.This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type.The population of this study are fans of K-Pop idol groups in Bekasi.The results of the study show that K-Pop fans in Bekasi carry out consumption activities that aim to seek satisfaction solely, this is due to the encouragement of the individual to continue to consume KPop goods for the emotional benefit of being a fan coupled with theenvironmental influence of the Bekasi K-Popers community.make their desire to continue consuming.The results of this study also show that K-Pop idol fans in Bekasi make them sick and feel guilty to their parents.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study focuses on the phenomenon of objectification of women who work as Sales Promotion Girl (SPG) in South Kuta, Bali. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the objectified SPG profession in South Kuta. This research uses a qualitative approach method with a descriptive- explanatory type. The theory chosen as scalpel in analyzing this research is Mary Douglas’s social body theory. The results of this study reveal that there are moments of objectification felt by SPG starting when they register to become SPG, during training before work, and even while working. SPG has been objectified and made into a job that has the main criteria, namely having an attractive appearance rather than being good at communicating. Then the company, through the event organizer or agency that recruits SPG, will provide work uniforms to SPG. The uniforms provided are standard and according to the company’s wishes. The uniforms given are more often uniforms that are sexy and show the curves of the SPG’s body. SPG have to wear uniforms, whether they like it or not. Apart from that, SPG often feel objectified when working in sexy uniforms. There are potential buyers who stare at SPG's body as if they are objectifying it, which makes SPG feel uncomfortable about this. Keywords: SPG, social body, objectivation.

Abstract

TikTok application is one of the social media platforms for uploading videos or content. TikTok allows users to create short videos with various effects and music so that the content can become more interesting and creative. The use of the TikTok application has positive and negative impacts on its use which causes changes in the behavior of TikTok users themselves. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the form of using the TikTok application among adolescents during the co-19 pandemic and how the behavioral impact on the use of the TikTok application. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The results show that the form and impact of using the TikTok application is contextual and depends on how individuals use it. If used wisely, TikTok can be a powerful tool for entertainment, creativity, learning and promotion. However, misuse and irresponsible use can have a negative impact on the well-being of individuals and society in general. Based on Sven Windahl's uses and effects theory, there is a relationship that the use and content of the TikTok application can have an effect and impact on its users.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada keterlekatan tindakan sosial ekonomi pedagang souvenir khas Bali di Pasar Seni Sukawati Gianyar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memaparkan dan menganalisis keterlekatan yang terjalin diantara pedagang souvenir khas Bali di Pasar Seni Sukawati. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif-eksplanatif. Teori yang digunakan dalam menganalisis penelitian ini adalah Keterlekatan Tindakan Sosial Ekonomi oleh Mark Granovetter. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa adanya hubungan keterlekatan yang terjalin diantara pedagang souvenir khas Bali di Pasar Seni Sukawati Gianyar. Keterlekatan yang terjadi di pasar ini masuk kedalam dua konsep sesuai dengan pemikiran Mark Granovetter yaitu (undersocialized) dan (oversocialized). Kedua konsep ini terjadi diantara pedagang souvenir khas Bali di Pasar Seni Sukawati akan tetapi lebih condong dalam konsep oversocialized yang dimana para pedagang masih memegang teguh norma adat istiadat yang berlaku seperti harus saling tolong menolong dengan sesama, adanya rasa toleransi dan empati yang tinggi sehingga keterlekatan yang terjalin diantara pedagang bersifat positif serta menumbuhkan rasa kaharmonisan dalam hubungan yang terjalin diantara mereka. Abstract

This study focuses on members of the Student Representative Council. The aim of the research is to describe and analyze the development of critical thinking for members of the Udayana University Student Representative Council. Critical thinking can be developed in various ways, one of which is by joining a student organization engaged in the legislative field at Udayana University, namely the Student Representative Council. Students participating in student organizations can consider various things, especially for students who have various activities and obligations that make students have to think carefully about their decision to join. This study uses a qualitative approach with explanatory descriptive type. Amitai Etzioni's Theory of Communitarianism is used as a scalpel to analyze student choices for the development of critical thinking and challenges of critical thinking in the Student Representative Council student organization. Communitarianism emphasizes the importance of social solidarity and cooperation in achieving common prosperity. Students who participate in the Student Representative Council determine their choice to develop critical thinking by considering it as a communitarian view, that is, this view rejects the view of individualism which prioritizes individual interests above the interests of the community. It was concluded that the development of critical thinking for members of the Student Representative Council has the benefit of developing their legislative skills through various work programs according to the main tasks and functions of advocacy, oversight, legislation and budget aspirations to achieve organizational goals, namely student welfare. It is recommended to carry out the main tasks and functions carried out by each DPM member by prioritizing social solidarity and cooperation with fellow organizations. Abstract

A consumption society is a group that is constantly engaged in consumption activities. However, consumption in this context has evolved from simply fulfilling basic human needs to a lifestyle. According to Baudrillard, the consumption pattern of postmodern society is characterized by a shift in orientation from life needs to lifestyle expressions. This study aims to analyze the consumptive behavior and lifestyle of fixed gear bicycle enthusiasts in Denpasar City using an explanatory descriptive qualitative approach and Jean P. Baudrillard's theory of consumption society. The results showed that fixed gear bikes are not only a means of transportation, but also a symbol of identity expression and lifestyle. The consumption of symbols gives birth to a society of spectacle where symbolic exchange creates social distance and differentiates individuals within the community. Preferences for bicycles, brands, styles, and associated values shape identities and groups within the community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze social exchanges between leaders and employees at Kusuma Jaya Shop Denpasar, one of the retail stores in the North Denpasar region. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive and explanatory types. The author uses three propositions from George Caspar Homans' six propositions of social exchange theory, namely the success proposition, the stimulus proposition and the value proposition. The dynamics of work at Toko Kusuma Jaya such as the number of employees, division of labor and the development of turnover have an influence on social exchange. Social exchange at Kusuma Jaya Shop occurs statically, in the process the propositions in Homans' social exchange theory are attributed in this study as the basis of individual behavior in making exchanges. The proposition is done by the individual to minimize the losses gained.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi fenomena judi daring di kalangan remaja di Kota Denpasar dengan fokus pada pengaruh pergaulan sosial. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-eksplanatif. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori kognitif sosial oleh Albert Bandura sebagai kerangka analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa remaja terlibat dalam aktivitas judi daring karena pengaruh pergaulan sosial dari teman sebaya. Meskipun demikian, alasan individu untuk terus bermain judi daring dapat bervariasi, yakni sebagai hiburan semata, mencari keuntungan finansial secara instan, atau untuk menguji kemampuan analisis mereka terhadap data pertandingan, terutama dalam konteks judi olahraga. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pergaulan sosial memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk perilaku judi daring pada remaja di Kota Denpasar.

Abstract

For the Manggarai people in Ketang Village, Mbaru Gendang have a crucial role and strategic function for the continued existence of their culture. This house has deep significance and meaning for the soul and life of the Manggarai people and culture. Mbaru Gendang provides physical, psychological and spiritual comfort for its residents. In the midst of the increasingly rapid development of globalization, culture has also changed with the times. However, until now the people of Ketang Village still maintain their customs, namely mbaru gendang. This research aims to explain the factors of survival of the mbaru gendang in and explore the symbolic meaning of the mbaru gendang in the Ketang Village community. This research uses the theory of Semiotics Theory: Roland Barthez. The concepts used as guidelines in this research are survival, traditional houses, mbaru gendang, and symbolic meaning. This research uses qualitative research methods through observation, interviews and literature study techniques. The researcher is the main research instrument, assisted by interview guides, voice recorders, cameras and writing tools. The results of the research show that the survival factor of mbaru gendang is the function factor of mbaru gendang, namely, mbaru gendang as a place to live, or for family gatherings, mbaru gendang bate mbaru (as a shelter), mbaru gendang as a place to receive guests, mbaru gendang as a place for lonto leok (meetings). (customary assembly), mbaru gendang as a place where the spirits of ancestors reside, mbaru gendang bate kuni agu if (as an identity) for the Manggarai people in Ketang Village. Mbaru gendang basically contains many symbols that describe the identity of the Manggarai people and culture of the Ketang Village community. Its round shape is a symbol of a mindset and lifestyle that prioritizes unity and togetherness.

Abstract

This study focuses on the formation of the self-concept of plus size female models who are members of Gunggek Management. This study purpose to describe and analyze sociologically related to the formation of the self-concept of plus size female models who are members of Gunggek Management. The method that used in this study is a qualitative-exploratory type. This study used Beauty Myths theory by Naomi Wolf as analytical tools. The results of this study reveal that by sociologically the plus size female models who are members of Gunggek Management are able to develop a positive self-concept and believe they are able to face the negative stigmas and pressure of Beauty Myths. That ability was formed due to a lot of support and many social interaction with Gunggek Management, so that they became more confident and able to accept themselves despite the negative stigma regarding of beauty myths. Also, in this study found that overall the plus size female models who are members of Gunggek Management have felt the pressure of Beauty Myths. But, they were able to develop a more inclusive concept of beauty based on their personal preferences, health, and self-comfort as independent individuals. However, in this study it was found that the self-concept of plus size female models is dynamic that will continue to change because it is influenced by the situation and conditions. In this study the self-concept of the plus size female models are strong and positive is a form of acceptance of themselves against the situation is the body shaming as a result of the stigmas of the myth of beauty. Abstrak Penelitian ini berfokus pada pembentukan konsep diri model perempuan plus size yang tergabung dalam Gunggek Management. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menguraikan dan menganalisis secara sosiologis terkait dengan pembentukan konsep diri model perempuan plus size yang tergabung dalam Gunggek Management. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif-eksplanatif. Teori yang digunakan sebagai pisau bedah dalam menganalisis penelitian ini adalah teori mitos kecantikan oleh Naomi Wolf. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa secara sosiologis para model perempuan plus size yang tergabung dalam Gunggek Management mampu mengembangkan konsep diri mereka yang positif dan berkeyakinan kuat bahwa mereka mampu menghadapi stigma dan tekanan dari mitos kecantikan. Kemampuan tersebut terbentuk karena adanya dukungan dan interaksi sosial dari Gunggek Management sehingga mereka merasa lebih percaya diri dan mampu menerima diri mereka apa adanya terlepas dari stigma-stigma mitos kecantikan. Dalam penelitian ini didapatkan hasil bahwa secara keseluruhan para model perempuan plus size yang tergabung dalam Gunggek Management pernah merasakan tekanan dari mitos kecantikan. Meskipun demikian mereka mampu mengembangkan konsep kecantikan yang lebih inklusif berdasarkan preferensi pribadi, kesehatan, dan kenyamanan diri mereka sebagai individu yang bebas. Kendati demikian, dalam penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa konsep diri model perempuan plus size bersifat dinamis yang akan terus berubah karena dipengaruhi oleh situasi dan kondisi yang mereka alami. Dalam penelitian ini konsep diri para model perempuan plus size yang kuat dan positif merupakan bentuk dari penerimaan diri mereka terhadap situasi yang mereka hadapi, yaitu diskriminasi bentuk tubuh akibat dari adanya stigma-stigma dari mitos kecantikan.
