Abstract

Life in the 21st century demands graduates who can think critically, innovate, collaborate, communicate, and face the changes that occur in the global world. The demands of 21st-century learning have implications for complex learning processes, requiring students' critical thinking skills. This research aims to determine the effect of electronic worksheets (e-worksheets) assisted by bioinformatics integrated with the problem-based learning (PBL) learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills at SMA Muhammadiyah Palembang. The type of research that will be used is Research & Development research. This research is the final stage of the 4D development model. The population of this research was Muhammadiyah High Schools 1, 5, and 6 in the city of Palembang (accreditation A), and the research sample included XII students and biology teachers. Research data analysis used the SPPSS program to carry out the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, homogeneity, and Wilcoxon tests. The pretest and posttest scores were calculated using the N-Gain test. The research results showed that the overall analysis data increased students' critical thinking skills in experimental and control classes. The results of the normality test of pretest and posttest critical thinking data from the three schools showed that the data was normally distributed. Differences in data on students' critical thinking skills are also known from the sig value. 0.000 < α 0.05, which can be concluded that students' critical thinking skills are higher before and after being taught compared to classes with conventional learning.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the skills that students must have in studying Biology. Students must adapt to technological developments. The development of critical thinking skills in lessons related to practical activities can be done by using teaching materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using PBL-based Electronic LKPD for practical work to improve critical thinking skills of grade X SMA students on bacteria material. This type of research is R&D research and development. The development model used refers to Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develop, and Dessiminate) and this study discusses the Dessiminate stages. The sample in this study was class X using only 2 experimental classes without a control class. The data collection technique usedpretest and posttest in the form of essay questions. The results of the study show that the use of PBL-based electronic LKPD for practical work is more effective in improving thinking skills.critical learners

Abstract

Indonesia is the world's largest palm oil producer, but this industry presents environmental challenges such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Enhancing students’ environmental literacy, particularly those living near oil palm plantations, is key in fostering ecological awareness. This study aims to analyze students' environmental literacy levels based on gender and grade level at Puspita Senior High School, South Sumatra. This research employs a descriptive design using a survey method with an environmental literacy questionnaire measuring knowledge and attitudes toward environmental issues. The study involved 244 students categorized by gender and grade level. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and the Kruskal-Wallis test to determine differences in environmental literacy across variables. The findings indicate that students’ overall environmental literacy is very good, with an average score of 54.36. There is no significant difference in environmental literacy between male and female students, although females scored slightly higher in attitude. Similarly, no significant difference was found based on grade level. Factors such as an inclusive curriculum, uniform learning experiences, and students' residential environment near oil palm plantations are believed to contribute to these findings. In conclusion, students living near oil palm plantations exhibit high environmental literacy, with no significant differences based on gender or grade level. These results highlight the importance of equitable environmental education in fostering ecological awareness among young generations.

Abstract

Background: Biodiversitas tumbuhan di Indonesia dikenal sangat tinggi dan terbesar di dunia karena berada dalam Kawasan Malesia. Sebanyak 300 spesies tumbuhan digunakan untuk pengobatan tradisional. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini untuk memberikan edukasi pemanfaatan tanaman sebagai obat, memanfaatkan bahan alam menjadi handsanitizer, dan sosialisasi pentingnya mencuci tangan bagi Masyarakat. Metode: Pengabdian ini dilakukan kolaborasi antara narasumber dengan mahasiswa KKN dan Masyarakat. Metode meliputi tiga tahapan yaitu penyampaian materi, demonstrasi dengan penanyangan video, diskusi dan evaluasi. Hasil: Pembuatan handsanitizer dengan konsentrasi daun sirih di atas 15% sama dengan etanol sebagai alternatif yang dapat dilakukan untuk pemakaian sendiri. Kegiatan edukasi ini juga menunjukkan kepuasan peserta berkaitan dengan materi kegiatan merupakan hal baru sebesar 96%, kepuasan dengan materi yang dijelaskan 47,4% (sangat puas), 45,4% (puas), 1,09% (cukup puas). Efisien waktu pengabdian yang dilakukan sebesar 98,15% menyatakan seimbang antara materi dan tugas). Kesimpulan: Edukasi pemanfaatan tanaman obat dan handsanitizer memberikan pengetahuan kepada peserta tentang pemanfaatan tanaman kelor sebagai obat, pembuatan handsanitizer dari daun sirih, dan menerapkan cuci tangan dengan sabun yang baik dan benar.

Abstract

Rendahnya ketuntasan hasil belajar IPA dapat dipengaruhi dari kendala kurangnya media pembelajaran dan inovasi model pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Penggunaan media salah satunya kartu bergambar berbasis model pembelajaran STAD diharapkan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif di MTS Kota Palembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas kartu bergambar berbasis model STAD yang telah dikembangkan untuk diimplementasikan pada pembelajaran IPA materi sistem pernapasan. Metode penelitian yaitu penelitian pengembangan Research & Development mengacu pada model 4D, pada tahap disseminate menggunakan siswa kelas VIII dengan 2 kelas yaitu kelas kontrol dan eksperimen di MTs Negeri 1 Palembang. Berdasarkan hasil efektivitas dapat dilihat dari nilai pretest dan posttest mengalami peningkatan dari analisis N-gain pada di kelas kontrol sebesar 0,58 (kriteria sedang) dan kelas eksperimen 0,86 (kriteria tinggi). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media KARGAM efektif meningkatkan hasil belajar, sedangkan pada uji t memperoleh nilai signifikan 0,000 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar menggunakan media dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Respon guru diperoleh 75% dengan kriteria baik sedangkan peserta didik mendapatkan 84,83% dengan kategori sangat kuat. Harapan kedepannya media kartu bergambar berbasis model STAD dapat meningkatkan keterampilan lain yang dituntut pada abad 21.
