Abstract

Examination of plagiarism actions towards scientific writing results, in line with the current technological advancements, cannot be denied. There are many checking tools available, whether through applications or web-based software. One of the familiar and widely used software is Turnitin. Therefore, the research team deemed it necessary to delve deeper and provide an understanding of the utilization of Turnitin software to students, especially in thesis writing. This study aims to introduce the use of Turnitin software as a similarity detection application in scientific writing, particularly in thesis works for final-year students in the English Language Teaching Department at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. The study involved 27 students. The utilization socialization model was conducted face-to-face. The results of this research show an improvement in understanding the utilization of Turnitin in the process of checking scientific writing, particularly in students' thesis works. This is evidenced by the difference in the level of understanding of Turnitin before and after socialization, which is quite significant at 35 percent. Such socialization needs to be carried out extensively to ensure that awareness of plagiarism actions and the utilization of Turnitin among students at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo spreads evenly. Keywords: Plagiarism Checker; Utilization Socialization; Turnitin; Scientific Writing.

Abstract

The evaluation model for game-based learning has garnered significant attention from researchers today. Game-based assessment models are believed to offer a fresh perspective compared to the conventional assessment models dominating the field. This research aims to develop a Vocabulary and Grammar question model based on games, integrated into applications such as Wallword and Educandy. After designing these questions, another objective is to explore the extent to which the use of Wallword and Educandy influences the enhancement of students' engagement and learning motivation. This study utilizes a Research and Development (R&D) design, specifically employing the Four D approach. The Four D type of R&D consists of four stages, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The respondents involved in this research comprise 25 English language students from IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo and 15 English Literature students from Universitas Muhammadiyah. The results showed that The research design encompasses three main components: creating a structured test framework, selecting appropriate templates for Wallword and Educandy, and developing the test items with specified difficulty levels. After implementing the game-based Vocabulary and Grammar assessment model, observations revealed high student engagement and motivation, particularly due to their enthusiasm for technology-enhanced learning through Wallword and Educandy platforms.

Abstract

Background: The preservation of local literature rooted in oral traditions faces new challenges and opportunities in the digital era. Digital technologies enable documentation and wider dissemination, yet they also raise concerns about cultural authenticity, community sovereignty, and sustainability. A systematic synthesis is required to clarify current scholarly directions. Aims: This study aims to: (1) identify dominant themes and research approaches in recent studies on the digital preservation of local literatures; (2) examine how scholars conceptualize the shift from oral to digital forms; and (3) analyze the documented educational impact of digitization within indigenous and local communities. Methods: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Searches across Scopus, Google Scholar, EBSCOhost, and ProQuest covered English and Indonesian publications from 2010–2025. Studies focused on preserving local literary content were included, while purely technical works were excluded. Data were synthesized through thematic analysis. Results: Six thematic clusters emerged: Digital Tools and Innovation; Community Participation and Co-Creation; Ethical Access and Cultural Protocols; Multimedia Storytelling; Digital Knowledge Management; and Collaborative Institutional Models. Scholars largely frame digital transition as cultural continuity and narrative hybridity shaped by technology but grounded in community stewardship and digital sovereignty. Educationally, digitization enhances reading comprehension, writing skills, engagement, accessibility, and cultural relevance. Implications: Effective preservation requires culturally grounded, participatory, and multidisciplinary approaches. Policymakers and practitioners should strengthen community-led digital stewardship, establish ethical access guidelines, and integrate digitized local literatures into curricula for sustainable cultural continuity.
