This study used a descriptive qualitative method, in which data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The researcher interviewed the facilitator of the peace school program at DKI Jakarta. Observation and documentation were carried out during the implementation of peace school program activities in narrating building peace culture in School. According to this research, the Wahid Foundation's narrative of the culture of peace was based on the widespread acts of intolerance, bullying, and radicalism that started to appear in educational institutions. This program was established to help with the management of student organizations, the development of school regulations, and the practice of tolerance and peace. Routine study plans, calming social media posts, and insightful online chats were all used to assist. The eventual aim of the Wahid Foundation's peace school program is to nurture students' character by teaching them to respect, value, and be sensitive to others, as well as to make them ambassadors of peace both within and outside of the classroom.

Abstract

Abstract

Mangroves are vital coastal ecosystems that act as blue carbon sinks, natural barriers against erosion, and economic resources for local communities. However, anthropogenic pressures have caused degradation, including in Muara Gembong, West Java. This study analyzes mangrove health and blue carbon stock dynamics between 2020 and 2025 using Sentinel-2 imagery processed in Google Earth Engine (GEE). Mangrove health was classified using NDVI into three categories: unhealthy, healthy, and very healthy. Aboveground biomass (AGB) was estimated from NDVI-derived models and converted to carbon using a 0.47 factor. Results reveal a decline in healthy mangroves from 87.11 ha to 57.33 ha, while very healthy stands increased from 1,036.15 ha to 1,050.81 ha. Carbon stock decreased by 412 tons, from 11,115 t C (2020) to 10,703 t C (2025). Degradation mainly occurred in transitional zones critical for regeneration. This study highlights the importance of adaptive and integrative mangrove management linking ecological restoration, blue carbon monitoring, and community-based economic initiatives to support Indonesia’s FoLU Net Sink 2030 target.

Abstract

This study examines how food security can serve as a pedagogical foundation for advancing eco-pedagogy in inclusive elementary education across two contrasting contexts: a nature-based private school and an Islamic elementary madrasa. Using a multi-site qualitative design, it applies participatory ethnographic methods through observations, semi-structured interviews, and school ethnography involving teachers, parents, leaders, and students, including those with special needs. The nature-based school operationalizes eco-pedagogy through hydroponics, organic waste management, and gardening, fostering ecological literacy, collaboration, and shared responsibility. The madrasa frames food security within Islamic commitments to justice, positioning it as both a goal of eco-activism and an expression of religiously grounded social responsibility. Together, these cases show that eco-pedagogy in the Global South extends beyond secular environmentalism and is enriched by faith-based ethics and community practices. The study concludes that embedding food security within inclusive school management broadens eco-pedagogy by situating sustainability education in diverse cultural and religious ecologies, highlighting inclusive schools as effective models of sustainable and socially just education.
