Abstract

This community service activity, which is a form of higher education tridharma obligation, aims to increase the professionalism and competence of teachers/teachers at the Junior High School (SMP) level in the city of Palangka Raya. The material presented in this community service activity is in the form of various interactive and interesting learning methods in teaching in English and making interactive learning media with the Microsoft PowerPoint application. This service activity was carried out on Saturday, February 03, 2024 at the STMIK Palangkaraya campus hall. The target of this community service activity is the teachers/teachers of Junior High Schools (SMP) in the city of Palangka Raya. The method of this activity uses the form of presentations and training which are then followed by discussions between participants and presenters. The costs for this community service activity are fully sourced from STMIK Palangkaraya through the Research, Publication and Community Service Unit (UP3M). The results of this community service can be concluded that the activity participants gained additional knowledge to further enhance their respective professionalism and competence

Abstract

The critical and creative thinking skills (CCTs) of junior high school students remain at a low level. Following this phenomenon, this research was conducted to explore the potential of the Problem Based-Learning model (PBL) to enhance students' CCTs, using a single class with a single group pretest-posttest design involving the ninth-grade students from State Junior High School in Malang, Indonesia. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling technique. Data was gathered through evaluation instruments in the form of pretest and posttest results. In addition to the aforementioned instruments, teaching modules and student worksheets were employed in the data collection process. The data analysis was performed using a number of tests, including the Shapiro-Wilk data normality test, Wilcoxon test, and N-Gain test. In particular, these tests were carried out to evaluate changes in scores. The research findings indicated that the implementation of PBL was effective and significantly successful in improving students' thinking skills, especially their CCTs. This is evidenced by the Wilcoxon test results, which resulted a significance value of less than 0.05, as well as a high N-Gain increase for critical thinking (0.7001) and a medium category for creative thinking (0.5826). Therefore, these findings can serve as recommendations concerning the role of PBL in improving students' two thinking skills (CCTs).

Abstract

Dengan meningkatnya tindakan kriminalitas, khususnya pencurian kendaraan bermotor roda dua sekarang ini, bukankah hal yang mengherankan apabila semakin hari manusia menginginkan suatu sistem keamanan sepeda motor yang modern. Solusi yang dilakukan oleh pemilik kendaraan bermotor hanya memakai kunci (gembok), tetapi sering lupa memasang kunci (gembok). Apalagi pencurian kendaraan bermotor dapat membuat kunci duplikat, sehingga pencuri dengan mudahnya melakukan aksi kejahatan dengan tidak mengundang kecurigaan. Kunci elektrik ini perpaduan mikrokontroler atmega 328P-PU dengan android yang dibuat menggunakan software arduino 1.0.6 untuk mikrokontroler dan basic4android untuk aplikasi android. Metode pengembangan prototype mencakup pengumpulan kebutuhan, perancangan prototipe, evaluasi dan mengkodekan sistem dengan android. Hasil dari penelitian ini berupa sebuah alat  yang akan dipasang di sepeda motor dan sebuah aplikasi yang di instalkan di smartphone android.

Abstract

Banyaknya perburuan liar terhadap satwa-satwa langka membuat populasi satwa langka tersebut berkurang. Salah satunya adalah orang utan Kalimantan Tengah. Maka dibuatlah permainan (game) Android “Save Orang Utan” yang melibatkan satwa langka orang utan Kalimantan Tengah sebagai pusat dari game yang dibuat, agar para pemain bisa belajar memahami betapa pentingnya melindungi satwa langka agar dikemudian hari tidak terjadi kepunahan pada satwa langka seperti orang utan. Game ini merupakan game 2D (dua dimensi) dan dibuat menggunakan software Unity 3D dengan bahasa pemrograman C# (C sharp). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengembangan multimedia yang terdiri dari 6 tahap yaitu concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing dan distribution. Metode pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penyusunan penelitian ini adalah pengumpulan model karakter beserta suara, penambahan script pada model karakter orang pertama/pemain untuk mengontrol karakter agar dapat berjalan sesuai yang diharapkan, dan pengisian suara. Dari hasil pengujian dengan black box testing menghasilkan game berjalan dengan benar dan tidak terdapat kesalahan.

Abstract

Fire is a disaster that can cause significant material and non-material losses. Delays in detecting early signs of fire often result in the rapid spread of flames and greater damage. This study aims to implement an early fire detection and warning system based on the AVR ATmega16 microcontroller, utilizing the LM35 sensor for temperature detection, the Flame V2 sensor for flame detection, and an SMS Gateway via a Wavecom modem as a medium for remote notification. The research adopts a prototype development approach, encompassing the stages of design, implementation, and system testing. The system is designed to provide two forms of alerts: a local audio alarm and a short message service (SMS) notification to registered user mobile numbers. System testing was conducted using the black box method to validate the functionality of both hardware and software. Experimental results indicate that the LM35 sensor successfully detected temperature increases above 39°C, while the Flame V2 sensor accurately identified the presence of fire. The system automatically transmitted SMS notifications to the user and activated a buzzer alarm as a danger alert. Furthermore, users were able to control the activation and deactivation of sensors via SMS commands with specific formats, thereby enhancing the system’s operational flexibility. This study is expected to serve as a foundation for further development toward more intelligent, integrated, and adaptive fire detection systems.
