Abstract

Abstract

As a country with a tropical climate, Indonesia is a country that has abundant agricultural commodities so that the majority of its population makes a living as farmers or works in the agricultural sector. Currently, the agricultural sector is a sector that is of concern to the government because it is a sector that contributes to the country's foreign exchange and is a source of income to meet the needs of its people. One of the most important food commodities is rice because it is the main staple consumed by the Indonesian population. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's population increases every year, but rice production is unstable. This will threaten Indonesia's food security to meet needs. The aim of this research is to analyze the availability of domestic rice to meet the needs of improving the welfare of the Indonesian people. The method used in this research is descriptive with a quantitative approach and secondary data from BPS. The analytical results obtained are that even though domestic rice production is very fluctuating or tends to decrease while Indonesia's population growth continues to increase every year, it turns out there is still a surplus in meeting the needs of the people during 2019-2023. Because the national rice availability is still in surplus, it can be concluded that Indonesia is still fulfilling its darruriyah (needs) and achieving maslahah to date and the welfare of its people is still maintained.

Abstract

Abstract

Rice is an important commodity and is needed by the wider community, its existence is vital as a means to fulfil the needs of life, therefore the Indonesian government's intervention in this commodity is very high. The price of rice in Indonesia continues to rise for many factors. This research employs qualitative methods which is called library research. The result of this study is the increase in rice prices in Indonesia according to Ibn Taymiyyah is entirely caused by market forces. According to Ibn Taymiyyah what is needed therefore is market intervention, instead of price intervention. The market intervention carried out by the Indonesian government is by intensifying the social assistance program, running market operations with the SPHP program, and strengthening the stock of government rice reserves (CBP). Meanwhile, the policy of setting the price ceiling should not be carried out by the government because the market conditions related to this rice commodity run perfectly and there is no market distortion.

Abstract

Edible film is a thin layer that can coat food products and protect them from physical, chemical, and microbiological disturbances. This study aimed to determine the effect of the concentration ratio and different plasticizers on the thickness, water vapour transmission rate, and morphology of protein-based edible films. The study used a completely randomized design with a factorial pattern. The experiment involved two factors: Factor A, which was the whey-gelatine concentration ratio, at three levels (A1 = 1:0.5; A2 = 1:0.75; A3 = 1:1); and Factor B, which was the plasticizer, at two levels (B1 = glycerol; B2 = polyethylene glycol (PEG)). The study revealed that the water vapour transmission rate was significantly affected (P<0.01) by the interaction between whey-gelatin and different types of plasticizers. Additionally, the film thickness was significantly affected (P<0.01) by the whey-gelatine ratio, and the water vapour transmission rate was significantly affected (P<0.01) by the different types of plasticizers used. The film made from protein had a thickness of 0.282-0.357 mm, a water vapour transmission rate of 4.27-5.55 g/mm2.h, and a homogeneous surface structure resulting from the good mixing of whey and gelatin. The concentration of whey-gelatine and the use of different plasticizers can affect the thickness, WVTR, and morphology of the film. The use of glycerol as a plasticizer resulted in a greater thickness, water vapour transmission rate (WVTR), and morphology compared to those of the PEG plasticizer when the whey-gelatin concentration was 1:1.
