Abstract

Adequacy energy and protein  has a very strong potential to prevent stunting in children. The role of protein in preventing stunting can be focused more on the amino acid content of a food. Metabolomic research has proven that children who are stunted have lower serum concentrations of nine essential amino acids (tryptophan, isoleucine, leucine, valine, methionine, threonine, histidine, phenylalanine, lysine) compared to children who are not stunted ( p < 0.01). In addition, children who are stunted have low serum concentrations of conditionally essential amino acids (arginine, glycine, glutamine), non-essential amino acids (asparagine, glutamate, serine). This research was to ingredients the amino acid content (glutamic acid, phenylalanine, isoleucine, alanine, arginine, lysine, leucine, threonine, cystine, histidine) in polymeric formulas developed from local food. This research uses an experimental design in the laboratory with a Randomized Complete Factorial (RCF) with four factors, namely F1, F2, F3 and F4. The difference between the formulations of these four formulas is the addition of full cream milk (0%, 10%, 20% and 30% ) Analysis of the amino acid content was carried out at the SIG Laboratory Bogor.  Results showed that the types of essential amino acids were complete and had a good quality amino acid score (SAA=100%). The limiting amino acid is the amino acid lysine. The digestible amino acid score in each formula is; F1 (65.72%), F2 (73.43%), F3 (81.53%), and F4 (85.25%).The results of the one-way ANOVA test showed that there were differences in amino acid content in the four formulas (P>0.05). Follow-up tests used the Tukey test to determine pairwise differences between groups and all groups, showing constant results. This shows that the treatment given, namely the addition of full cream milk, had a significant effect on the differences in amino acid content in the four formulas. Conclusion: The polymeric formula developed contains complete and good quality amino acids.

Abstract

The stunting rate in Indonesia is still relatively high, reaching 21.6% in 2022, including one district in South Sulawesi, namely Jeneponto Regency, where the stunting rate is still high, namely 39.8%. On the other hand, personal hygiene, history of infectious diseases and protein intake are still considered poor. This study aims to determine the relationship between personal hygiene, history of infectious diseases and protein intake with the incidence of stunting. This research is a cross sectional study. The sample for this research was 80 toddlers aged 6-24 months. This research was conducted in Bontomatene Village, Jeneponto Regency. The research instruments were a questionnaire and recall form. The analysis used is the chi square test. The results of the analysis showed that most of the samples had good personal hygiene, 73.8% and 26.2% had poor personal hygiene. History of infectious disease in the Yes category was 68.8% and the No category was 31.2%. Poor protein intake is 50% and 50% is good. The results of statistical tests show that there is no relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of stunting (p= 0.810), there is no relationship between a history of infectious disease and the incidence of stunting (p= 0.672) and there is a relationship between protein intake and the incidence of stunting (p= 0.002) in the village Bontomatene, Jeneponto Regency. Mothers and caregivers need to increase their children's protein intake by feeding them animal and vegetable protein sources according to their age requirements, through the use of local foods.

Abstract

Chronic lack of energy is one of the main nutritional problems experienced by many teenagers, especially young women. Based on the results of Riskesdas data (2018), the prevalence of KEK among adolescent girls in Indonesia is 36.3%. Adolescents who experience CED are at risk of giving birth to premature babies, bleeding during delivery, infant and child deaths and giving birth to babies <2.5 kg which is often called Low Birth Weight (LBW). The aim of the research is to determine the relationship between eating behavior and the incidence of chronic energy deficiency in adolescent girls. The type of research used is analytical research with a cross-sectional study approach. The research was carried out from June to August 2023. The sample in this research was all class XI female students at SMA Negeri 21 Makassar who were selected as samples with a total of 75 people. The variables in this research are the level of knowledge, attitudes and actions regarding balanced nutrition obtained using a questionnaire. The statistical analysis used was the chi square test. The statistical test results of the relationship between the level of knowledge and action and KEK both show a value of p=0.00 (p<0.05), meaning that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and action and the incidence of KEK. The relationship between attitude and SEZ shows a value of p=0.07 (p>0.05), meaning that there is no significant relationship between attitude and the incidence of SEZ. It was concluded that young women in the context of this research had good knowledge and actions towards balanced nutrition, even though their attitudes were predominantly negative. It is hoped that teenagers will further increase their knowledge which will later be able to change their attitudes regarding balanced nutrition through persuasion and pressure from those around them so that they are aware of the importance of health by meeting nutritional needs with balanced nutrition. Abstract

This systematic review synthesized recent evidence on the impact of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) on infant and maternal health, maternal knowledge, and family socioeconomic conditions. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we conducted systematic searches in PubMed, ScienceDirect, JSTOR, and Google Scholar. From 500 identified records, 10 studies published between 2020 and 2025 met the inclusion criteria. Meta-analysis showed that EBF reduced gastrointestinal infection risk in infants by 45% (OR = 0.55; 95% CI: 0.45–0.67), increased cognitive development scores by 0.35 SD compared to formula-fed infants, and reduced maternal breast cancer risk by 25%. Narrative synthesis indicated significant economic savings at the household level through reduced formula purchases and healthcare utilization. These findings underscored the importance of maternal knowledge, family support, and breastfeeding-friendly workplace policies in sustaining EBF. The review provided critical implications for global and national health policies to promote and protect EBF practices.

Abstract

Formula F1 memiliki kadar zat besi tertinggi (2,73 µg/100gr), sedangkan formula F3 menunjukkan kadar antioksidan tertinggi (18,33 µg/100gr).

Abstract

Anemia remains a critical global health issue among adolescent girls, often theoretically linked to underweight nutritional status; however, the phenomenon of hidden hunger indicates that micronutrient deficiencies are not always reflected in anthropometric parameters, thus the actual correlation between nutritional status and anemia incidence needs to be empirically demonstrated. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 20 Pangkep. This observational analytic study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted in December 2025. A total of 92 adolescent girls from grades X-XII were selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through anthropometric measurements to determine Body Mass Index for Age (BMI-for-Age) and capillary hemoglobin testing using a POCT device, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test (α = 0.05). The findings revealed an anemia prevalence of 23.9%, classifying it as a significant public health problem. Statistical analysis showed that the proportion of anemia in underweight adolescent girls (31.3%) was not significantly different compared to adolescent girls with normal nutritional status (22.4%). The bivariate test confirmed no significant relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia (р = 0.449). Macro-nutritional status (BMI) is not a primary determinant of anemia in this population, implying that adolescent girls with proportional bodies share an equal risk of iron deficiency; therefore, anemia prevention programs and Iron Supplementation Tablet (TTD) distribution must target all adolescent girls evenly, accompanied by continuous education.
