Abstract

Operational risk in a tourism village refers to failures or deviations in the execution of tourism activities, which, if left unaddressed, may escalate into reputational risks. This study investigates strategies for mitigating operational risks in Tugu Utara Tourism Village, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through focus group discussions involving 15 key stakeholders, including tourism village managers, representatives from tourism village associations, and officials from the Bogor Regency Culture and Tourism Office. Thematic analysis was employed to identify and interpret patterns, with findings presented through fishbone diagrams and summary tables. Results reveal four core pillars for operational risk mitigation: system risk, human resource risk, internal risk, and infrastructure and supporting facilities risk. These findings contribute to the growing discourse on community-based tourism resilience by offering a contextualized framework for operational risk governance in rural destinations.

Abstract

The study investigates the effects of product quality and price on the purchasing decisions of Bonpatis Danish pastry sheets, with brand image acting as a mediator. Indonesia's food and beverage industry, mainly retail, is experiencing significant growth as modern retailers like Hypermart introduce competitive products. A quantitative approach was used, applying Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) to data collected from 83 respondents, mainly Hypermart bakery employees in DKI Jakarta. Results indicate that product quality and price positively influence brand image and purchasing decisions. Specifically, product quality boosts brand image and directly affects purchase decisions, whereas price influences purchase decisions directly but not via brand image. The study emphasizes the role of product appearance and packaging in shaping brand perceptions and suggests improving these elements to attract more consumers. Due to a limited sample size, the study recommends future research to explore broader aspects like customer satisfaction and loyalty. Keywords: Danish pastry sheet, product quality, price, brand image, purchase decision.

Abstract

Distribution is an activity carried out to spread the product throughout the market so that consumers can buy it. Distribution can also affect the price of goods. Therefore, the distribution must be effective. The purpose of this study is to determine the shortest route that is effective in distribution so that product prices are not high and the company does not suffer losses. The data analysis method used is Dijkstra's Algorithm obtained with data on the distance between the starting point and the destination point through predetermined points. The calculation results show that the shortest and fastest routes to be taken based on the dijkstra algorithm are: A-20-19-F-26-C-D-11-12-B-E with a distance of 40.71 km. There are several road routes that can be chosen to be used but the shortest route that can be taken is 40.71 km. Medan Rice Distributors are expected to choose the shortest transportation route so that rice distribution can be carried out quickly and optimally.

Abstract

Indonesia faces a critical public health challenge with one of the highest smoking rates globally, including among elementary school children. Understanding the determinants of this early smoking behavior is essential for developing effective prevention strategies. This study, Determinants of Smoking Behaviour Among Indonesian Elementary School Students: A Cross-Sectional Study, aimed to identify the factors associated with smoking behavior among elementary school students in Bojonegoro Regency, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from a Ministry of Health survey. The sample consisted of 1,071 students from grades 4–6 across 20 elementary schools, selected via total population sampling. Data were analyzed using Chi-square tests to examine associations between smoking status and variables such as gender, grade level, knowledge, and environmental exposure. The prevalence of ever having smoked was 8.7%, exclusively among boys. Significant risk factors (p < 0.01) included being male, higher grade level, having smoking family members, having peers who smoke, and witnessing people smoke at school—notably, teachers and community members. Surprisingly, children who knew the dangers of smoking had a higher smoking prevalence. Smoking behavior in elementary students is strongly influenced by environmental exposure and gender. Prevention requires a multi-faceted approach, including strict smoke-free policies in schools, targeted anti-smoking education for boys, and community-wide interventions to reduce children's exposure to smoking role models.
