Abstract

The fisheries sector is one of Indonesia's promising industries. This industry accounts for approximately 2.6 percent of total national GDP. However, fishery products are perishable and contribute to a total loss of approximately 40due to the fishery cold chain implementation was not yet optimal. Cold chain facilities were out of reach for small fisheries due to the large investments required. The study aimed to describe the current state of fisheries cold chain implementation. In the fisheries value chain, value chain mapping was used to enable fact-finding and linkage between existing conditions, chain actors, and governance. The research was carried out in two areas: Banten and West Java. The research conducted 90 interviews with fishermen, 9 collecting traders, 6 big traders, and 6 transporters. The research found that there are numerous channels in the chain governance. These channels have different requirements and demands in both traditional and modern markets. Furthermore, the fisheries cold chains in both regions varied based on key features and the inclusion of small stakeholders in the business relation. In conclusion, limited cold chain infrastructures were utilized by the actors directly and indirectly for decent work and reduce poverty. Abstract

The dairy industry is in need of a paradigm shift from traditional practices to a contemporary, enhanced system. This study aims to analyze and characterize business models that bring added value to the conventional dairy business, fostering a more sustainable approach to cattle healthcare. While the amalgamation of sustainable practices and cattle health within dairy business models remains relatively unexplored, this study bridges the gap. In the month of April 2022, a cross-sectional study was carried out in selected dairy cooperative (KPS Cianjur Utara), West Java, Indonesia. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of business model frameworks pertinent to the management and staff of dairy cooperatives, a practical approach has been developed. This approach serves the purpose of assisting cooperatives in meticulously evaluating their existing models while also facilitating the creation of novel and innovative business approaches. This tool involves augmenting the Business Model Canvas (BMC), introducing novel dimensions that operationalize dairy farm and cooperative dynamics. The proposed dairy cooperative BMC framework presents a pragmatic structure for formulating and disseminating a holistic, improved model. Diverse dairy cooperative business models have been identified and extensively deliberated upon. Despite varying organizational architectures and approaches to value creation, a common thread of collaboration and adaptability to external fluctuations runs through all these models. This study lays the foundation for transformative change within the dairy sector, aligning it with contemporary sustainability objectives. Abstract

In Indonesia, several poultry value chains exist in conjunction. The introduction and transmission routes of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) may differ between these different poultry chains. Consequently, critical areas for control may differ between the poultry value chains and the actors within these chains. However, there is no estimation of the relative importance of the different actors in the Indonesian poultry value chains regarding the probability of HPAI introduction and transmission. To fill this gap, qualitative risk assessments of HPAI introduction and transmission were employed and linked with a previously established value chain map of poultry production in Western Java. Introduction and transmission probability estimates were determined through expert knowledge elicitation. Expert elicitation is acquiring expert opinions on unclear subjects due to insufficient evidence, physical constraints, or resource limitations. Results indicated variable HPAI introduction and transmission risks in the different value chains in West Java, ranging from low to very high. Critical actors were all farming sectors, private collecting farms, traditional outlets, and semi-automated slaughterhouses. Linking the value chain with an expertise-based estimation for introduction and transmission is an efficient and systematic way to identify opportunities for control measures for developing countries. Abstract

Backgroud: Stroke is a cardiovascular disease classified as a catastrophic and has significant effects on society and the economy. According to data from the World Stroke Organization, 89% of stroke-related death and disabilities occur in low- and middle-income countries (WSO 2022). In Indonesia, stroke continues to be one of the leading causes of mortality and disability. Data from the Global Burden of Diseases Study (2019) and Riskesdas (2018) indicate that 65% of stroke sufferers have a risk of impairment and 15% have a chance of death.Purpose: This study aims to analyze management policies and implementation of acute ischemic stroke patient management in hospitals and evaluate inter-criteria with multi-criteria decision making. Design/methodology/approach: This research method uses a quantitative approach with a total of 15 respondents from 5 hospitals. Data analysis technique used is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Finding/Result: The results of the study show that the effective factor has the highest weight (0.276) in improving thrombolysis therapy service (rt-PA) for acute ischemic stroke patients. Meanwhile, the alternative strategy that becomes the priority in this research is standardizing stroke protocols and pathways with a weight value of (0.275). The AHP processing results in private hospitals prioritizing effective factors or criteria as the main priority, and the alternative strategy in the form of standardizing stroke protocols and pathways becomes the first alternative priority strategy. In government hospitals, the AHP data factor or criteria prioritize tariff and time as the main priority, while the alternative strategy is the formation of a stroke team. The policy implications include tariff adjustments, awareness, and the establishment of standardized stroke protocols and clinical pathways, which also have a positive impact on the outcomes of stroke patients. Conclusion: In order to enhance thrombolysis therapy (rt-PA) services for patients with acute ischemic stroke, the most effective factor is the one with the maximum weight, which is (0.276). The alternative strategy that is the top priority in this study outcome is "standardization of stroke protocols and pathways" with a weighted value (0,275).Original/value (State of the art): In this study, analyze management policies, implement acute ischemic stroke patient treatment in hospitals, and assess the criteria using multi-criteria decision-making. Using 6 criteria: efficacy, feasibility, tariff, time, fairness, and acceptance. The multi-criteria combination and alternative strategies are assessed using AHP to determine the criteria that have the greatest influence on thrombolysis therapy recommendations, and the alternative strategy priority that can improve thrombolysis therapy services. Keywords: clinical pathway, effective factor, stroke patient, tariff, thrombolysis

Abstract

The sustainability issue has pushed the food industry, continually looking for new materials to reduce and replace plastics in their packaging. However, the recent development of novel materials is still less satisfactory due to different involvement from different vital players such as government, society, and industry. This paper analyzed the critical success factors of new material development for food packaging based on different key players, involvements, and interests. A survey was conducted by the authors to gather information related to the development factors and the participation factors based on the three key players. This research employed descriptive quantitative design. This design allows research to collect and describe the found clusters and factors. The results revealed that the critical success factors are classified into five clusters, namely technical substitution, technical drivers/barriers, application barriers, cost barriers, and raw material supply barriers. Differently from developed countries, the critical vital players' participation, especially from the government, was essential in developing new material for food packages. Abstract

Background: Smallholders play a critical role in the coffee value chain within West Java Province, with the majority of coffee production originating from their plantations. However, the initiative and involvement of coffee farmers in the value chain remain limited. Consequently, it is imperative to implement an inclusive business model that ensures the participation of all stakeholders.Purposes: This study examines the diversity of inclusive business models in West Java‘s coffee value chains, focusing on collectors in Pangalengan and Lembang, coffee shops with roasteries in Bogor, and farmers’ cooperatives in Garut.Design/Methodology/Approach: Using value chain mapping, business model canvas analysis, and semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, it explores how these lead firms integrate smallholder farmers into their business models while balancing profit and social impact. The analysis revealed distinct inclusivity approaches across the models, underscoring the significance of adapting strategies to specific regional contexts.Findings/Result: The collector model in Pangalengan and Lembang prioritizes efficiency and market access but may overlook the nuanced needs of farmers. Conversely, the Bogor coffee shop and roastery model fosters direct farmer relationships, promoting quality and shared decision-making. The cooperative in Garut emphasizes collective action and farmer empowerment, although it faces challenges related to governance and market access. Conclusion: This study identifies the key factors for successful inclusive business practices in coffee value chains. Enhancing coffee value chain inclusivity requires robust stakeholder engagement, particularly with smallholders, empowering training, knowledge sharing, and rigorous monitoring and evaluation.Originality/Value/state of the art: These insights include the need for context-specific business models, external actor collaboration, a holistic value-creation perspective, and continuous learning and adaptation.
