Abstract

This study explores the communicative approach in Arabic language learning from both theoretical and practical perspectives as a response to the need for functional and contextual language proficiency. In the context of modern education, Arabic language learning can no longer rely solely on grammatical mastery; instead, it must be directed toward the ability to communicate effectively in various real-life situations. The purpose of this study is to examine the communicative approach in Arabic language teaching from both theoretical and practical aspects. A qualitative approach was employed, using library research and limited field observation in Arabic teaching practices. Data were collected through documentation, field notes, and analysis of learning materials, and then analyzed descriptively and critically. The findings show that the communicative approach theoretically emphasizes the use of Arabic in real-life contexts, based on language acquisition theory and communicative competence. Practically, it requires interactive methods, teacher training, contextual materials, and digital technologies to enhance students’ language skills, motivation, and understanding of religious and social values in an integrated manner. These findings affirm that the communicative approach should be systematically integrated into the Arabic language curriculum and instructional strategies to make learning more relevant, effective, and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the professional competence of Arabic language teachers based on the National Education Standards (NES). It employs a descriptive qualitative approach to provide an in-depth portrayal of Arabic language teachers’ professional competence in accordance with the NES. Primary data were obtained through interviews and observations, while secondary data were sourced from official documents. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, incorporating source, method, and time triangulation to ensure the validity and credibility of the findings. The results indicate that Arabic language teachers play a vital role in improving education quality in line with the NES through mastery of language materials both theoretically and practically, language skills, and the development of relevant teaching materials. They integrate Arab-Islamic culture, utilize educational technology, and conduct Classroom Action Research to improve teaching methods. With these competencies, teachers can create effective, adaptive, and relevant learning environments, thus achieving the optimal goals of Arabic language education. The findings suggest that Arabic language teachers should continuously enhance their professional competence through ongoing training, the use of educational technology, and the development of contextual learning materials. Strengthening the integration of Arab-Islamic cultural values and the application of Classroom Action Research is essential for refining teaching strategies. These efforts will contribute to the creation of effective, adaptive, and contemporary learning, thereby optimizing the achievement of Arabic language learning objectives.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate community members' skills and comprehension in reading Arabic news before and after they used audio-visual media. The theoretical underpinning of this study is the idea that exposure to audio-visual materials will enhance one's news reading skills. The researchers' theory states that people interested in reading the news through audio-visual media have improved their news-reading skills. The method used in this research was a quasi-experimental method with a one-group design based on pre-test and post-test. The population in this study covered all members of the news reading community, totalling 20 students at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. This research used quantitative data analyses of pre-test and post-test results using the Lilioforce equation. One of the present study’s results showcased that prior to employing the audio-visual media, the members of Arabic Language Teaching Division's news-reading mission had a poor level, as seen by the average score of 68.3. Their grade after utilizing it was good, as evidenced by the average score of 87.2. According to the interpretation criterion, the result of (N-D) was 0.60 or 60% in a moderate classification. Therefore, these results indicated that the audio-visual method effectively improved news-reading skills. This study suggests future’s research to assess the other foreign language proficiency in greater detail using a wider range of research techniques.

Abstract

This study evaluates a streamlined approach to Arabic grammar instruction designed to help university students master Qirâ’at al-Kutub. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to explore the effectiveness of a simplified Arabic grammar teaching method in facilitating mastery of Qirâ’at al-Kutub. The simplified method addresses challenges in traditional teaching, improving comprehension and application of grammar in classical texts. Using pre-test and post-test analysis, the study recorded a 20% increase in average scores (65% to 85%) and significant reductions in fi'il mudhâri' errors (40% to 10%) and i’râb errors (50% to 15%). The method proved particularly effective for students struggling with conventional approaches, with 86% reporting improved confidence and comprehension. However, participants also highlighted the need for additional resources (82%) and support for complex texts (68%). This research offers a practical, inclusive solution to Arabic grammar instruction, fostering critical reading skills and deeper engagement with linguistic heritage. Future studies should explore digital tools, interactive platforms, and longitudinal impacts to refine and expand this approach in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Learning Arabic speaking skills still leaves problems in its implementation; problems with learning methods, media used, and a lousy learning environment are the root of the problem in this case. The same is true in class VIII MTs Al-Raudhah. Because there is no specific and continuous learning about Arabic speaking skills because mastering the skill of speaking Arabic cannot be obtained only by giving theory, but it takes practice and practice continuously. This study aimed to determine the improvement of Arabic speaking skills by applying the Shundūq Al-Asyyā (item box) language game. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (PTK), carried out at MTs Al-Raudhah Cileunyi. The subject of this study was grade VIII MTs Al-Raudhah students for the 2022/2023 academic year. The number of students studied was 28 students, 18 female students and 10 men. Data collection techniques in this study are Observation, Questionnaire, Interview, Test, and Documentation. The results of the study stated that in the first cycle, before applying the Shundūq Al-Asyyā (item box) game media, more precisely on the pretest results, the average speaking skill score achieved by students reached 60.04. After the first cycle, students' average speaking skills score increased to 77.32, although not perfect. (2) In the second cycle, precisely on the pretest, the results showed that the average score of students' speaking skills decreased to 70.46. After implementing the action, the average score of students increased to 87.43, and the average completion reached 89%. Therefore, using Shundūq Al-Asyyā game media in class VIII MTs Ar-Raudhah Cileunyi can improve students' Arabic speaking skills. So, applying this media can be an alternative for teachers to improve students' Arabic speaking skills with fun. This research still has limitations and constraints, so it is expected that further researchers can develop and expand their research studies. <w:LsdException Lo

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the era of learning 5.0 requires interactive and contextual Arabic teaching materials. However, Istima' and Kalām learning in schools still face obstacles in the form of low student motivation and limited digital media. This condition shows the need for developing digital teaching materials that can facilitate enjoyable and sustainable listening and speaking exercises. This study aims to create digital Arabic teaching materials on Istima' and Kalām through flipbook media at MI Nurul Yakin. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The study results show that in the define stage, learning was still dominated by conventional methods; in the design stage, an interactive flipbook contained basic competencies, vocabulary, exercises, and evaluations. While in the development stage, the product was validated by experts with positive results. The dissemination stage was carried out through socialization and limited trials at MI Nurul Yakin, which showed positive responses from teachers and students regarding the appearance, accessibility, and clarity of the material. This research is expected to be an innovative step in improving istima' and kalām skills through digital-based Arabic language learning relevant to the modern era's needs. Although still limited in scale and time, the results show the potential for broader application. In the future, this teaching material can be used in teacher training and project-based learning to sustainably strengthen digital literacy in madrasas.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic to date has caused learning to be carried out remotely to prevent further transmission of the virus. The use of Google Classroom is a solution for learning fiqh lughah online at this critical time. So far, there are still few studies that examine student perceptions of online learning of fiqh lughah. Therefore, this study aims to investigate student perceptions of online learning of fiqh lughah using Google Classroom. This research is exploratory, investigative research with 33 students as the subject. All exploratory data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques by adopting several steps: tabulating the Microsoft Excel application data, adding a percentage score to the data, and presenting the analyzed data in a summary table. These findings reveal that distance learning using Google Classroom gets a positive response from students even though they have to adapt more intensely to be comfortable with the learning process. Therefore, learning fiqh lughah through Google Classroom should be considered as an alternative media for online learning.
