Abstract

Increasing demand for land is driving up the rate of agricultural land conversion. This may threaten the availability of paddy fields and thus food availability and security. This research aims to map the distribution of paddy fields to be planned as Sustainable Food Agricultural Land in Sengah Temila District, Landak Regency. In this research, the survey method was used with the population being all paddy field land use in Sengah Temila Sub-district with a total sample size of 100 land samples. The results showed that the total area of existing paddy fields in Sengah Temila Sub-district in 2024 based on Landak District Paddy Field was 5,040.69 ha. Through the agricultural information obtained using ground check technique and then processed using map overlay technique to obtain LP2B plan map, the existing paddy field area in Sengah Temila sub-district is 5,225.10 ha. The overlay results show that the land that can be planned as sustainable food agriculture land in Sengah Temila sub-district is 5,069.22 ha spread over each village. The LP2B plan in Sengah Temila Sub-district in this study is expected to be able to reduce the conversion rate of rice fields in order to achieve food security and sovereignty.

Abstract

The training was carried out as a community service program that aimed to increase the skills of extension workers, village officials and peasants in Galing District, Sambas District, in mapping land for rice fields using the Avenza Map application. The background to this work stems from the urgent need for accurate, real-time information on agrarian land management, which is critical to promoting food security. Analysis of the situation has shown that many of the local growers and extension workers do not yet have the necessary skills to use modern mapping technologies, which hinders the efficiency and effectiveness of land management. The problems encountered include a lack of knowledge about mapping applications, as well as limitations in the acquisition and presentation of relevant data. The program, in part, provided training involving material delivery, question and answer sessions, and the practice of using Avenza Map. The training was designed to give the competitors practical knowledge and skills, so they could create job maps, input data, and present information in a geographic information system (SIG). This conclusion indicates that the training not only improves the skill of the participants, but also raises awareness of the importance of technology in modern farming. As the result, community service programs are expected to bring about a sustainable positive impact on rice field management in Kecamatan Galing, as well as encourage active community participation in utilizing technology to improve agricultural productivity.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the geographical characteristics, local potential, and distribution of public services in Pisak Village, Tujuh Belas Sub-district, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with field observation methods to describe spatial and social phenomena within the village. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the village head and direct observation using Avenza Map to plot the distribution of facilities, while secondary data were collected from village administrative documents and spatial maps. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Pisak Village possesses significant potential in agriculture and tourism. Around 90% of the population works in agriculture, producing dryland rice, vegetables, and palm oil, while its natural attractions, such as the Pisak River and traditional Nyaban’k ritual, highlight the village’s cultural richness. The village's highland location contributes to a cool climate and stable water resources that support agricultural sustainability. Socially, the community maintains strong kinship ties, cooperation, and traditional values. Public facilities, including education, health, and social infrastructure, are evenly distributed across the four hamlets, with the main service centre located in Segiring Hamlet. Spatial analysis indicates that these facilities are well distributed and accessible, supporting balanced rural development. However, challenges remain in human resource development, particularly limited access to secondary education and low economic diversification, which cause dependence on traditional farming. Therefore, improving education and training opportunities is essential to enhance community capacity and achieve sustainable village development. Overall, the study concludes that geographical conditions, local potential, and spatial distribution of services are interrelated and form the basis for inclusive and equitable rural planning in Pisak Village.
