Abstract

The performance of Kader Surabaya Hebat (KSH) plays a crucial role in supporting the success of community service programs implemented by the Surabaya City Government. Variations in the levels of training, work discipline, and organizational commitment are presumed to influence the quality of cadre performance and therefore require empirical investigation. This study aims to analyze the effects of training, work discipline, and organizational commitment on the performance of KSH in Medokan Ayu Sub-district, Surabaya. The research employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design involving 30 cadres selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software. The findings reveal that training has a positive and significant effect on performance (β = 0.312; p = 0.008), work discipline has a positive and significant effect on performance (β = 0.354; p = 0.004), and organizational commitment exerts the strongest positive and significant effect on performance (β = 0.421; p = 0.001). These results indicate that improving cadre performance requires the integrated enhancement of competencies, work discipline, and organizational commitment. The novelty of this study lies in its empirical evidence demonstrating that organizational commitment is the most dominant factor in improving cadre performance within community-based public service organizations, thereby extending the human resource management literature in the context of grassroots public service delivery.

Abstract

Abstract

Employee performance is critical to organizational success, aligning with strategic goals, customer satisfaction, and economic impact. It reflects the outcomes achieved by individuals or groups within an organization, crucial for productivity and sustainability amidst competitive environments. This study investigates the impact of work motivation, leadership, and work discipline on employee performance at PT Petronika, a Dioctyl Phthalate manufacturer that faces challenges linked to motivation, leadership, and discipline. The research aims to analyze these factors among 73 HRD employees using a quantitative approach, specifically Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Primary data, gathered through interviews and questionnaires, is complemented by secondary data from company records and literature. Results indicate that motivation significantly enhances employee performance (p = 0.002), while work discipline also plays a crucial role (p = 0.000). However, leadership shows inconsistent impact on performance (p = 0.784), highlighting complexities in its influence. The study concludes that improving motivation and reinforcing work discipline are essential for enhancing employee performance at PT Petronika. Further research is recommended to delve deeper into the dynamics of leadership within organizational contexts.

Abstract

The high level of talent competition, demands for flexible work, and rapid organizational dynamics make start-up companies vulnerable to high employee turnover. This condition indicates that employee retention is a strategic challenge, especially when the company's image as a workplace and the quality of the recruitment process are not optimally managed. Employer branding plays a role in building positive perceptions of the organization, while recruitment quality determines the fit between employees, jobs, and company culture. Based on these problems, this study aims to analyze the influence of employer branding strategies and recruitment quality on employee retention in start-up companies in Surabaya. The study used a quantitative explanatory approach with a survey design. The sample consisted of 120 start-up employees selected through purposive sampling with a minimum work period of six months. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that employer branding strategies and recruitment quality each had a positive and significant effect on employee retention, both partially and simultaneously. These findings confirm that employee retention is influenced not only by financial factors, but also by company image and the accuracy of the recruitment process. This study provides strategic implications for start-ups in designing sustainable HR policies.

Abstract

Effective human resource management is a key factor in improving employee performance and maintaining company competitiveness, especially amidst the demands of increasingly dynamic work environments. Problems frequently faced by companies relate to inaccurate recruitment processes, suboptimal selection processes, and unsustainable human resource development, resulting in low employee performance. Based on these conditions, this study aims to analyze the influence of recruitment, selection, and human resource development on employee performance at PT Tangan Kita Berkarya. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to employees. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS, after first undergoing validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The results show that recruitment and selection each have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Human resource development also has a positive and significant effect and is the variable with the strongest contribution to performance improvement. Simultaneously, these three variables have a significant effect on employee performance. These findings indicate that improving employee performance requires integrated human resource management, from the recruitment process to continuous employee development.

Abstract

Economic growth, measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), has long been the primary measure of a country's development success. However, recent studies have shown that increases in GDP do not always translate directly into improvements in people's subjective well-being, a phenomenon known as the Easterlin Paradox. This article aims to comprehensively examine the development of the economics of happiness as an alternative paradigm for measuring well-being beyond traditional economic growth, while simultaneously reconstructing a more holistic indicator of well-being. The method used is a narrative literature review of thirty internationally indexed scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026, analyzed using a thematic approach. The results indicate that the determinants of happiness are multidimensional, encompassing economic factors such as income, employment, and inflation; social factors such as social support, social capital, and trust; and factors such as health, freedom of choice, the environment, and sustainability. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative framework, which maps the paradigm shift from growth-centered economics to well-being-centered economics, and the proposed composite well-being index model, which is relevant for public policy formulation, including in developing countries like Indonesia. This article recommends that policymakers integrate subjective well-being indicators into national development planning so that development policies are no longer solely oriented towards growth figures, but rather towards the overall quality of life of the community
