Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in developing emotional intelligence in early childhood at Cinta Bunda Kindergarten in Batu Bara. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that teachers have a good understanding of the importance of emotional intelligence and actively integrate it into learning activities. The role of teachers is reflected in several aspects, namely as emotional models, facilitators of play and socialization activities, providers of individualized approaches through emotional dialogue, and providers of positive reinforcement for good emotional behavior. Furthermore, teachers also collaborate with parents to consistently support children's emotional development at home. This study concludes that the active role of teachers significantly influences children's ability to recognize, manage, and express emotions in a healthy manner, which in turn positively impacts children's abilities to manage stress, communicate, and build social relationships. Implications of this study emphasize the importance of teacher training in socio-emotional aspects and synergy between schools and families in shaping children's character from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the school environment in shaping the Islamic identity of early childhood children at Cahaya Asri Kindergarten in Sei Dadap, Asahan. Islamic identity is an important part of early childhood character formation, which includes the introduction of basic Islamic values such as monotheism, morals, worship, and social behavior. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation with teachers, principals, parents, and students. The results showed that a conducive and Islamic-nuanced school environment plays a significant role in shaping children's Islamic identity. Habitual religious activities such as reciting prayers, memorizing short surahs, practicing ablution and prayer, as well as teachers' role models in behaving in an Islamic manner have a positive influence on children's religious behavior. In addition, parental involvement in school activities also strengthens the process of internalizing Islamic values at home. A consistently supportive and Islamic school environment can be an effective medium for instilling Islamic identity in early childhood. Collaboration between schools, teachers, and parents is the key to success in shaping children's religious character from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the internalization of Islamic values through educational play activities at Babussalam Kisaran Private Kindergarten. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the research involved 10 early childhood education teachers and was conducted over a three-month period. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that educational play activities—such as Islamic role-play, Islamic-themed educational games, and singing Islamic songs—serve as effective mediums for value transmission. The core Islamic values internalized include faith (iman), worship (ibadah), moral conduct (akhlak), and social interaction. Teachers utilized various strategies including role modeling, Islamic storytelling, positive reinforcement, and interactive play-based approaches tailored to the developmental stages of early childhood learners. A key contribution of this study lies in its practical demonstration of how Islamic character education can be innovatively embedded into daily play activities in PAUD (Early Childhood Education), offering a culturally relevant and pedagogically sound model. Despite its promising findings, the study is limited to a single institution and a relatively short observation period, suggesting the need for broader and longitudinal research in future studies.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of families, particularly parents, in supporting Islamic religious education for early childhood at Ar Raudhah Kindergarten in Kisaran. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving eight parents of students enrolled at the school. The findings reveal that parents demonstrate a strong commitment to religious education by consistently modeling worship practices, facilitating religious discussions at home, and actively engaging in school-based religious programs. A unique insight from this study is the emergence of home-based collaborative religious routines, such as shared Qur’an reading sessions and family prayer schedules, which reinforce the teachings from school in a familial context. Additionally, the research highlights the presence of mutual reinforcement between the family and the institution, enabling a more holistic and continuous religious learning experience. This dynamic collaboration underscores the pivotal role families play in shaping children’s spiritual foundations from an early age.

Abstract

One of the impacts of divorce is a change in parenting patterns and its effect on children's religious education within the family. This research aims to identify parenting patterns in applying religious education within divorced Muslim families. Qualitative research approach with the case study method, research location in Laumulgap Village, Selesai District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. The informants were selected using purposive sampling, specifically three parents and three children from divorced Muslim families. Data collection techniques were carried out thru in-depth interviews with open-ended, semi-structured questions. Data analysis and management were conducted using Lincoln and Guba's naturalistic paradigm, with an emphasis on four data quality criteria: credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The research results show that the backgrounds of divorce are diverse, ranging from economic factors leading to infidelity by the wife, infidelity by the husband, families without conflict, and differences in life principles. These factors influence the level of conflict before and after divorce, thereby affecting the impact on the child's religious activities. The impact of divorce on children's religious behavior, such as abandoning worship and experiencing a spiritual crisis. Conversely, conflict-free divorce with active involvement from both parents does not show a negative impact on children's religiosity. The parenting styles employed also vary, ranging from permissive and authoritarian to democratic. The democratic parenting style has proven to be the most effective in guiding children thru the emotional and spiritual crises following divorce. This research emphasizes the importance of maintaining emotional stability and consistency in parenting for children's religious education. The quality of the parent-child relationship and parenting approaches after divorce are determining factors in the formation and recovery of children's religious behavior.
