Abstract

This community service (PKM) program addresses the need to strengthen digital literacy and pedagogically grounded artificial intelligence (AI) integration among primary school teachers. The program implemented a practice-based training model combined with a co-design pedagogy approach, enabling teachers to actively engage as learning designers rather than passive technology users. The activity was conducted at SDN Oetona, Kupang, involving twelve primary school teachers. Evaluations were carried out through pre- and post-tests, observation of instructional practices, and guided reflective responses. The findings indicate a notable improvement in teachers’ conceptual understanding, operational readiness, and confidence in integrating AI into lesson planning and classroom activities, with 80% of participants demonstrating the ability to apply basic AI tools for instructional support. Despite positive outcomes, the program faced limitations related to training duration, participant scale, and device availability. As a follow-up strategy, a school-based learning community was established to support sustained collaboration, mentoring, and the gradual development of AI-supported pedagogical practices in primary education.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Powtoon-based digital media on fourth-grade students' learning interest in the Solar System topic at SD Negeri Retraen. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group. Participants were divided into two groups: the experimental group, which used Powtoon animation media, and the control group, which received conventional instruction. Learning interest was measured through a Likert-scale questionnaire covering attention, curiosity, participation, and enthusiasm. Data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test. The results indicated that the experimental group achieved significantly higher post-test scores in learning interest compared to the control group, as evidenced by a p-value below 0.05. These findings suggest that integrating Powtoon animation media into thematic instruction effectively enhances student engagement, particularly in abstract science topics such as the Solar System. The dynamic visualization provided by Powtoon helps students comprehend complex material more concretely, fostering a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience. This study recommends the broader adoption of digital animation tools in elementary education to improve instructional quality and increase student participation.

Advisor II: Heryon Bernard Mbuik, S.PAK., M.Pd. This study was backgrounded by the low IPAS learning outcomes at SD Inpres Kuanino 3 due to teacher-centered instruction and the lack of contextual media, making the eclipse topic difficult for students to understand. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of STEM-based diorama media on sixth-grade students’ IPAS learning outcomes and to provide an innovative learning alternative. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design involving all 40 students (20 experimental, 20 control). The instrument was a 20-item multiple-choice test validated with Pearson Product Moment (all items valid, rcount > rtable 0.312) and reliability tested with the Spearman–Brown method (r11 = 0.777, high category). Item analysis showed 14 questions of moderate difficulty and 6 easy questions, with discrimination indices ranging from sufficient to very good. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Prerequisite tests included Shapiro–Wilk normality (sig. > 0.05) and Levene’s homogeneity (sig. > 0.05), indicating normal and homogeneous data. Hypothesis testing using a paired-sample t-test produced sig. 0.000 < 0.05, thus rejecting H₀. The average pretest score of 49,25 increased to 87,25 on the posttest. These results demonstrate that STEM-based diorama media is valid, reliable, practical, and effective in improving elementary students’ IPAS learning outcomes.

Abstract

Teacher discipline plays a crucial role in shaping structured learning environments that influence students’ learning motivation. This study examines the effect of teacher discipline on students’ learning motivation in an elementary school context. A quantitative ex post facto design was employed involving 29 fifth-grade students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using validated Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS version 25. The results indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between teacher discipline and students’ learning motivation (p = 0.049). The regression coefficient (β = 0.523) suggests that higher teacher discipline is associated with increased learning motivation. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.368) shows that teacher discipline explains 36.8% of the variance in students’ learning motivation. The findings confirm that teacher discipline functions as an external motivational determinant in elementary education settings. The study contributes to the literature by positioning teacher discipline as a behavioral construct that shapes motivational learning outcomes in faith-based elementary schools in Indonesia.
