Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership policies and personal competencies of sports officials in Aceh Province, Indonesia. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, involving 10 key informants selected through purposive sampling, including deputy regents, heads of departments, and education officers with backgrounds in sports. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and verification techniques. The findings reveal that sports community members who occupy leadership positions in Aceh demonstrate strong cognitive, affective, and psychomotor competencies. Their leadership styles are a combination of various models, including democratic, participatory, administrative, and charismatic approaches. Respondents emphasize discipline, teamwork, and alignment with institutional goals while also integrating local cultural values in decision-making and leadership behavior. The study concludes that sports-based leadership in Aceh is shaped by both educational background and sports experiences, which enhance strategic thinking, policy-making skills, and leadership effectiveness. This finding challenges the public perception that such leaders attain positions through favoritism or coincidence. The study contributes to the understanding of how sports experience can foster effective leadership in public administration.

Abstract

A standardized instrument with a good validity and reliability to measure sport anxiety is not yet available in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to develop such instrument which is suitable to local conditions. Subjects were (N=406) beginner soccer players from Banda Aceh Municipality. The development of this measurement tool was conducted through two activities, namely instrument adaptation, and collection of new items throught item pooling and screening of the item pool (Q-sort). Then the instrument was validated throught two phases, firstly on 406 beginner soccer players, and secondly on 1000 soccer playes from Nangroe Aceh Darussalam. Data were analysed through validity and reliability testing and factor analysis. Results show either the validity or the reliability level of anxiety scale was high enough, and that the sport anxiety scale comprising four factors and 35 items could be used to measure sport anxiety.

Abstract

VO₂max is the main indicator of aerobic capacity that is widely used in endurance sports. However, direct measurement of VO₂max requires special equipment and laboratory conditions that are not always available in the field. This study aims to examine the predictive model of VO₂max based on body composition through a systematic literature review approach. Data were obtained from four scientific databases (Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar) with a publication range of 2013–2025. The selection process followed the PRISMA guidelines with inclusion criteria of human population-based quantitative studies and the use of body parameters as predictors of VO₂max. A total of 15 articles met the criteria and were analyzed narratively. The results showed that parameters such as fat-free mass (FFM), body fat percentage (BF%), and body mass index (BMI) were the most commonly used variables. Linear regression and machine learning approaches were the dominant statistical methods. Although these approaches are potential, a universal model has not been found due to variations in population, measurement methods, and training conditions. This study recommends the development of population-specific predictive models and the integration of anthropometric data, biomarkers, and exercise response to improve model accuracy and applicability.
