Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochomis niloticus) is one of Indonesia's freshwater fish which has economic value. One way to obtain optimal fish hatchery results is by improving reproductive performance, which can be increased by improving the nutritional quality of the parent feed. The nutritional elements that must be present in the main fish feed include vitamin E and fatty acids. Vitamin E has a very important and decisive role in fish reproduction, because Vitamin E functions as an antioxidant which can prevent the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in cells and as an antioxidant. Fatty acids present in the cell membrane can accelerate the embryogenesis process to run normally and reproduction results can be increased. Ovagrow is high-quality Vitamin E which is useful for maintaining the egg and sperm maturation process in the parent fish. Ovagrow is also useful for multiplying and improving the quality of eggs and sperm in brood fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving different doses of ovagrow to accelerate gonadal maturation of tilapia and to determine the effect of adding ovagrow to gonadal maturity and egg fecundity in tilapia broodstock. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments with 3 repetitions each. Treatment A ovagrow dose 0.3 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment B ovagrow dose 0.5 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment C ovagrow dose 0.7 gr/1 kg feed and Treatment D ovagrow dose (control) 1 gr/1 kg of feed. The results showed that the TKG of tilapia with the highest percentage was in treatment A and the best fecundity of tilapia was in treatments A and D with a total average value of 541.26. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that administration of ovagrow at different doses did not have a significant effect on the gonad maturity level of tilapia broodstock and the average fecundity of tilapia (Oreochoromis niloticus).

Abstract

Abstract

This study evaluated the effects of Caulerpa racemosa and probiotics on the growth performance, survival, and feed utilisation of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerlings. Four treatments were formulated: A (25g C. racemosa + 6mL probiotics), B (50g C. racemosa + 6mL probiotics), C (75g C. racemosa + 6mL probiotics), and D (control, no additives). The highest weight gain (27.80±1.62g) and most efficient feed conversion ratio (FCR) were observed in the control group, attributed to its optimal protein (17.82%) and fat (10.51%) content. Treatment A yielded moderate growth (19.35±2.45g) with the lowest FCR (1.62±0.03), indicating a potential synergistic effect of low-level C. racemosa and probiotics. In contrast, Treatments B and C resulted in reduced growth (17.72±0.47g and 16.92±1.09g, respectively), likely due to high levels of dietary carbohydrate (up to 61.56%) and ash (up to 24.25%), which impaired nutrient assimilation. Survival rates were uniformly high across treatments (93.3–100%), confirming the safety of these additives. The findings underscore the importance of dosage in functional feed formulations, highlighting that excessive seaweed inclusion may compromise performance, while low-level supplementation in combination with probiotics offers promising benefits for sustainable aquaculture.

Abstract

Biotechnology is used to apply technology to the C/N ratio by stimulating the activities of heterotrophic microorganisms, which derive food from carbon and nitrogen substrates in a certain ratio. The goal of this research was to see how the optimal carbon-nitrogen ratio affected water quality and floc volume in white leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farming. This study took place in the UPT Integrated Laboratory Unkhair in Ternate City in July and August 2021. A fully randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications was used in this investigation. Different C/N ratios had an effect on ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, floc volume, and feed conversion ratio, according to the research. The water quality parameters are still suitable for white leg shrimp cultivation. In white leg shrimp culture, the addition of C-organic molasses (different C/N ratios) was able to reduce the concentrations of (NH3), (NO2), and (NO3), and also greatly increase the flock volume and streamline the feed conversion ratio.Keywords:C/N RatioVannameiWastewaterBiofloc
