Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding given to children from birth to 6 months of age with no supplementary foods and beverages. exclusive breastfeeding was one of the keys to reduce infant mortality rate (IMR). The coverage of babies receiving exclusive breast milk in 2019 was 67.74%. The low level of exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by many factors, one of which is the mother's lack of awareness of the importance of breastfeeding in the first 6 months after giving birth. Breasts need to be prepared during pregnancy, which impacts providing IMD (Early Initiation of Breastfeeding), which influences exclusive breastfeeding. Research aim was to compare the effectiveness between  media phantom and video regarding the Breast Care Skills of Pregnant Women in the Third Trimester. The research used quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample was obtained by purposive sampling of 60 people (30 intervention groups and 30 control groups). The results of data analysis used Mann-Whitney test. Results showed that p value p = 0.000, meaning p < 0.05, stating that the demonstration using phantom media was more effective in improving breast care skills in third-trimester pregnant women. In conclusion, it is hoped that this guide can be used by stakeholders or service partners and motivate pregnant women to carry out breast care since pregnancy so that they can successfully provide exclusive breastfeeding until the baby reaches 6 months.

Abstract

This study addresses the vital role of information as a reproductive health right and emphasizes the responsibility of family planning officers, including health workers, to disseminate accurate information for ensuring public reproductive health. The research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of SITEPIS Contraception, an online information service designed to aid family planning officers in conveying contraceptive information. SITEPIS is a web application offering comprehensive information on contraception, medical eligibility criteria, and a live chat service. This study involves 28 family planning officers at sub-district and village levels in Bogor and West Lombok districts. Employing a descriptive research approach, the study includes socialization events introducing Sitepis Contraception, encouraging usage, and collecting officers' evaluations. Results indicate positive feedback from all officers, citing the website's appealing design, user-friendly accessibility, and essential features for effective information delivery. Despite challenges related to internet network support in certain areas, officers express willingness to use the SITEPIS website for their community information duties. Notably, while face-to-face interaction is preferred by most officers, SITEPIS contraception serves as a valuable tool for information dissemination. The study underscores the underutilization of online information as the primary method among family planning officers in Indonesia. Despite this, it recognizes the potential of online platforms, like SITEPIS, in reaching diverse societal levels. The findings emphasize the need for further examination of SITEPIS Contraception from the community's perspective, the primary target audience, to enhance its effectiveness. In conclusion, the study advocates for the integration of online information tools to empower family planning officers in fulfilling their crucial role as information providers.

Data from the Gerung Community Health Center recorded  105 stunted children in 2022 (19.9%), decreased to 88 children in 2023, and 57 children in July 2023, with an achievement of more than 50%. In 2022, there were also 142 pregnant women and 110 births, indicating a high risk of stunting. Education on newborn care is a crucial strategy in preventing stunting, as the first 1,000 days of life significantly influence a child's growth and development. This activity is integrated into the Pregnant Women's Class, which covers topics such as pregnancy, childbirth, nutrition, newborn care, and disease prevention. The role of community health workers is crucial through home visits, health promotion, counseling, and detection of danger signs. Repeated education has proven effective in increasing mothers' understanding, shaping positive behavior, and preventing complications. The synergy of education, prenatal classes, and community health workers is key to accelerating the reduction of stunting in Taman Ayu Village. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide information and knowledge to the Posyandu community health workers group, both theoretically and practically, regarding newborn care, which consists of bathing newborns, umbilical cord care, breastfeeding, keeping babies warm, and danger signs in newborns, in the form of training in educational classes. A total of 20 community health worker representatives from each hamlet were targeted for this community service activity.  The implementation included socialization of the objectives, participant approval, pre-test, newborn care education, post-test, and practice with student assistance. Evaluations were conducted twice: on pregnant women in their third trimester and during the first neonatal visit with the village midwife. The results of the community service activity showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of community health workers, with their average knowledge score rising from 66 to 90.25.

Abstract

The use of WhatsApp (WA) in the health sector is increasingly widespread for communication, education, and intervention. Yet, systematic and updated bibliometric analyses of global trends remain limited, particularly those covering post-2023 developments and comparing contributions between high-income and developing countries. This study aims to systematically map and analyze the international landscape of WA-based health research published between 2015 and 2025. We employed a bibliometric research design with data sourced from the Scopus database, using the keywords "WhatsApp" AND "health". A total of 50 relevant articles were analyzed using descriptive statistics and VOSviewer software to visualize networks. The findings indicate that the use of WA as a health communication tool is firmly established. Publication trends indicate growth, with the COVID-19 pandemic serving as a significant catalyst that has driven the exploration of WA for remote healthcare services. The five most productive countries are India, Saudi Arabia (with five articles each), Brazil, Malaysia, and Indonesia (with four articles each). The most influential themes centered on the benefits of WA in clinical practice and the enhancement of supervision for community health workers. In conclusion, WA is proven to be a vital health communication tool, and the future direction of research is expected to increasingly focus on establishing its effectiveness, testing service models, and its broader, more systematic integration into the digital health ecosystem.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue that begins early in life and is stronglyassociated with inadequate maternal care, nutrition, and infant feeding practices.Pregnant adolescents are particularly vulnerable due to limited knowledge andreadiness for childbirth and breastfeeding, which are crucial for preventing stuntedgrowth in infants. This quasi-experimental study aimed to evaluate the effectivenessof a Mobile WebApp–based intervention in increasing knowledge related to childbirthreadiness and breastfeeding as part of stunting prevention among pregnant adolescentsin Narmada Subdistrict, West Lombok Regency, Indonesia. A total of 60 pregnantadolescents who met the inclusion criteria (aged 15–19 years, first pregnancy, andable to use smartphones) were selected using purposive sampling. The instrument, a25-item questionnaire, was developed based on the Health Belief Model (HBM),covering aspects of perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, and cues to actionrelated to maternal and infant health. The instrument underwent expert validity testingby three midwifery and maternal health specialists and achieved a validity coefficientof r = 0.78 and a Cronbach’s alpha reliability value of 0.86, indicating goodconsistency. The one-month Mobile WebApp intervention provided educationalmodules on breast care, signs of labor, early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF),breastfeeding techniques, and exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of age. Datawere analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed a significantimprovement in maternal knowledge after the intervention (p < 0.05). These findingsdemonstrate that the Mobile WebApp effectively enhances pregnant adolescents’readiness for childbirth and breastfeeding, thereby supporting efforts to preventstunting. Integrating mobile health applications into maternal education can strengthenadolescent mothers’ capacity to promote optimal maternal and child health outcomes.

Abstract

Premature rupture of membranes is a serious pregnancy complication that can lead to infection, preterm delivery, and increased maternal and neonatal morbidity. Primigravida women lack sufficient knowledge to identify early warning signs and understand proper prevention and management strategies. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using animated video media on the knowledge level of primigravida mothers regarding premature rupture of membranes at Lenek Public Health Center. The research design employed experimental one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 42 primigravida women were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through a structured questionnaire given before and after the educational video intervention. The video included information about the definition, causes, risk factors, symptoms, and prevention of premature rupture of membranes. The results showed a significant improvement in participants knowledge levels following the intervention. Prior to the education, most respondents had a low level of knowledge, whereas post-intervention data indicated that the majority had good knowledge. Statistical analysis used the Chi-Square test produced a p-value of 0.000, confirming a statistically significant relationship between the animated video intervention and improved maternal knowledge. The findings demonstrated that animated video media was an effective and engaging method for delivering health education to pregnant women, especially for topics involving complications such as premature rupture of membranes. It stimulated visual and auditory learning, enhances comprehension, and promotes better retention of information. Therefore, the used of animated educational videos was recommended as part of routine antenatal care to improve maternal awareness and preparedness.
