Abstract

Analysis of Symbolic Meaning in Drama Scripts and Its Implications in Indonesian Language Learning for Class X Senior High School Students. Objective: This study aims to describe the symbolic meaning of the drama script and its implications for learning Indonesian for class X students. Methods: The analysis of symbolic meaning and its implications uses the eclectic method and the Semiotics perspective of Charles Sanders Pierce. Findings: The results of the study indicate that there is a symbolic meaning that shows a shift in the type of lexical meaning following the meaning of its social function in the drama script. The symbolic meaning is relevant to the learning objectives in Basic Competencies 3.6 Understanding the types of purpose and Basic Competencies 4.6 Using the kinds of importance in sentences. Abstract

STEAM Approach in Renewable Energy Education: Global Trends and Future Research Direction. Renewable energy education is an alternative to reducing fossil energy consumption at the school level in which students are hoped to save the energy in their living environment by playing a role in behavior in dealing with energy crises. Many studies regarding the use of STEAM approach to educate students on renewable energy have sharply grown. Objectives[LS1] ; This[LS2]  recent research aims to find the novelty of those previous studies regarding renewable energy education using STEAM approach for future researches. Method; a systematic review using bibliometric analysis was performed to carry out this research whereby 16 literatures indexed by Scopus and published in 2015 – 2021 were involved as the data. Several analyses, such as co-word, performance, citation, and co-authorship were used to analyze the data promoted by VOSviewer software. Fundings; the Results of this recent study showed that publication trend of renewable energy education studies involving the STEAM approach slightly increased in the period of 2015 – 2021 while citation trend sharply decreased. Several documents and lots of authors coming from some countries in each continent contributed most to the studies of STEAM approach in renewable energy education. Conclusion; some main themes such as country’s participant, environment, renewable energy, awareness, sustainability, education, learning approach, and competence also emerged to synthesize the prospectively new direction of future researches in renewable energy education using the STEAM approach. Keywords: bibliometric, renewable energy education, STEAM approach.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202492

Abstract

The Dutch colonial period in the archipelago witnessed various significant changes in aspects of government and economic policies, one of which was the implementation of the Forced Planting System in the early 19th century, which led to suffering for local farmers. In 1870, the Dutch government replaced this system with open-door politics, which opened up opportunities for private companies, including the Deli Company (Deli Maatschappij) founded in 1869. Deli Maatschappij, which began with tobacco plantations in East Sumatra, grew rapidly and became the dominant force in the international tobacco industry until the early 20th century. This article aims to examine the history of the establishment and development of Deli Maatschappij, as well as its impact on the lives of workers and the local community. This research uses historical research methods with heuristic, critical, interpretation, and historiographic stages. The results show that Deli Maatschappij not only drives economic development through infrastructure and industry, but also contributes to social and demographic change, including the influence on the labor system and social relations in the region. Despite negative impacts such as labor exploitation, the company has also made some progress, such as the development of transportation and education infrastructure that has survived to this day.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the use of audio-visual media at the Pugung Raharjo Archaeological site as a medium for learning history for students of history education at STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung. The research method used in this research is using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used in this research are literature study, observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data validity technique uses triangulation of data sources and for data analysis using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The Pugung Raharjo Archaeological Site is one of the historical heritages in Lampung. This site is not only used for historical tourism visits, this site is also used as a source of learning local history for students of history education study programs. In the current digital 4.0 era, various learning media are used to support success in learning activities, one of which is using audio-visual media. The results showed that the use of audio-visual media for the Pugung Raharjo Archaeological Site as a medium for learning history was well received by students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dikaji untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengalaman culture shock atau gegar budaya yang dialami oleh pendatang baru di Lampung, khususnya dalam penyesuaian penggunaan logat daerah setempat. Culture shock merupakan kondisi psikologis di mana seseorang mengalami tekanan dan keterkejutan saat berhadapan dengan lingkungan dan budaya yang berbeda dari yang biasa mereka kenal. Masalah ini menarik untuk diteliti karena penggunaan logat yang berbeda dari bahasa asal sering kali memicu tantangan bagi pendatang, baik dalam aspek komunikasi maupun interaksi sosial, sehingga memperlambat proses adaptasi mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pendatang baru yang tinggal di Lampung dalam kurun waktu kurang dari dua tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pendatang baru hampir selalu mengalami culture shock atau gegar budaya dengan berbagai tingkat dan bentuk, di mana mereka kerap merasa cemas, bingung, dalam berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi. Meski begitu, dengan proses adaptasi yang baik dan dukungan lingkungan, mereka secara bertahap dapat menyesuaikan diri dengan budaya dan logat bahasa baru. This research was studied to find out how culture shock is experienced by newcomers in Lampung, especially in adjusting the use of local accents. Culture shock is a psychological condition in which a person experiences pressure and shock when dealing with an environment and culture that is different from what they are used to. This issue is interesting to study because the use of accents that are different from the language of origin often triggers challenges for migrants, both in aspects of communication and social interaction, thus slowing down their adaptation process. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with newcomers who lived in Lampung for less than two years. The results showed that newcomers almost always experience culture shock with various levels and forms, where they often feel anxious, confused, in interacting and communicating. Even so, with a good adaptation process and environmental support, they can gradually adjust to the new culture and language accent.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menilai media pembelajaran interaktif berbantuan TimelineJS pada materi Zuid-Sumatra Staatsspoorwegen (ZSS) dan Oosthaven untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar sejarah lokal mahasiswa. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah kebutuhan akan media digital yang mampu menyajikan peristiwa sejarah secara kronologis, kontekstual, dan interaktif agar pembelajaran menjadi lebih bermakna. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang mencakup tahap analisis, perancangan, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas satu ahli materi, satu ahli media pembelajaran, dan 20 mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Sejarah. Data dikumpulkan melalui validasi ahli, angket respon mahasiswa, serta tes hasil belajar, dan dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif serta kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan valid, praktis, dan efektif. Hasil validasi ahli materi memperoleh skor 91% (sangat layak), sedangkan ahli media 88% (layak). Kepraktisan media berdasarkan respon mahasiswa mencapai 88,5% (sangat praktis). Uji efektivitas menunjukkan peningkatan hasil belajar dengan rata-rata nilai pretest 62,4 dan posttest 83,7, menghasilkan N-Gain sebesar 0,57 (kategori sedang–tinggi). Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran interaktif berbantuan TimelineJS layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran sejarah lokal di perguruan tinggi karena mampu menampilkan keterkaitan peristiwa secara visual, menarik, dan meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ pedagogical competence through the socialization and implementation of Deep Learning approaches in classroom practice. Conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung, the activity involved 57 teachers from various disciplines. Using a participatory and reflective training model, the program consisted of three main phases: conceptual socialization, collaborative workshops on learning module design, and mentoring for classroom implementation. Evaluation results showed that 90% of participants reported a clearer understanding of Deep Learning principles, 88% found the methods effective, and 90% felt more confident applying the approach in their teaching. Teachers also perceived increased student motivation and engagement after implementation. Overall, the activity succeeded in enhancing teachers’ readiness to design meaningful, reflective, and technology-integrated learning experiences aligned with 21st-century educational goals. This program underscores the importance of sustainable teacher development in fostering deep and transformative learning environments.   Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru melalui sosialisasi dan implementasi pendekatan Pembelajaran Mendalam (Deep Learning) dalam praktik pembelajaran di kelas. Dilaksanakan di SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung, kegiatan ini melibatkan 57 guru dari berbagai disiplin ilmu. Menggunakan model pelatihan partisipatif dan reflektif, program ini terdiri dari tiga fase utama: sosialisasi konseptual, lokakarya kolaboratif tentang perancangan modul pembelajaran, dan pendampingan untuk implementasi di kelas. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa 90% peserta melaporkan pemahaman yang lebih jelas tentang prinsip-prinsip Pembelajaran Mendalam, 88% merasa metode ini efektif, dan 90% merasa lebih percaya diri dalam menerapkan pendekatan ini dalam pengajaran mereka. Guru juga merasakan peningkatan motivasi dan keterlibatan siswa setelah implementasi. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesiapan guru untuk merancang pengalaman belajar yang bermakna, reflektif, dan terintegrasi dengan teknologi yang selaras dengan tujuan pendidikan abad ke-21. Program ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya pengembangan guru yang berkelanjutan dalam mendorong lingkungan belajar yang mendalam dan transformatif.
