Abstract

Kata Kunci: Inovasi, Nip-Soothe, Perawatan Pascasalin  ABSTRACT Nipple trauma such as cracks and pain is one of the main problems faced by breastfeeding mothers, which may reduce their motivation to provide exclusive breastfeeding. In fact, exclusive breastfeeding plays a crucial role in supporting optimal infant growth and preventing stunting. This program aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge of breast care, develop Nip-Soothe as a natural herbal-based solution for nipple trauma, and empower housewives through the utilization of local herbal resources. The program was conducted using a participatory approach in Sirnajaya Village, Tarogong Kaler District, Garut Regency, through several stages including needs assessment, health education, training on Nip-Soothe production, product trials, and mentoring of health cadres and PKK groups. Evaluation was carried out using pre- and post-test questionnaires as well as direct observation of product use. The results showed an increase in maternal knowledge from 33.3% to 86.7%, while trials on 10 breastfeeding mothers indicated that 80% reported a reduction in nipple pain and cracks after regular use. Furthermore, a women’s group was established that successfully produced and packaged Nip-Soothe as a family health product and potential home-based business. In conclusion, Nip-Soothe proved to be an effective, safe, and simple solution for nipple care, supporting exclusive breastfeeding, contributing to stunting prevention, and simultaneously creating opportunities for community empowerment through local economic development. Keywords: Innovation, Nip-Soothe, Post-Partum Treatment

Abstract

Optimal breast milk (BM) production is a crucial factor in the success of exclusive breastfeeding, yet many breastfeeding mothers still experience challenges related to low milk quantity. One of the factors influencing breast milk production is the adequacy of maternal nutrition during lactation. The utilization of local nutrient-rich foods with galactagogue properties offers a potential alternative to enhance breast milk production. This study aimed to examine the effect of sweet potato leaves and moringa leaves, processed into RISBILOR (Sweet Potato and Moringa Risoles), on increasing BM quantity and improving exclusive breastfeeding coverage in the working area of Kersanagara Community Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group was used. The study involved 40 breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 0–6 months, who received the intervention for 14 consecutive days. The results showed a significant difference in BM quantity between the intervention and control groups after RISBILOR administration, with a Wilcoxon test p-value of 0,032 (p-value <0,05). In conclusion, RISBILOR significantly increased breast milk production in mothers of infants aged 0–6 months, indicating that it can be used as a safe and beneficial local food-based functional food to support breast milk production and the success of exclusive breastfeeding programs.
