Abstract

Flavanoids are one of the many compounds in phenols that can denature bacterial cell membrane proteins, thus inhibiting cell growth. The purpose of this study was to formulate an anti-acne gel for the ethanolic extract of red algae (Eucheuma cottonii) and to test its antimicrobial activity against Propionibacterium acnes. The method used is laboratory research design by making antiacne gel preparations of red algae extract with concentrations of 1%, 3%, 5% and testing the antimicrobial activity with the agar diffusion method using wells on MHA media which is incubated for 1x24 hours. The results of the evaluation of the gel preparation before and after the cycling test met the requirements of organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, and dispersibility where each formula was stable in the gel preparation. The results showed that red algae extract (Eucheuma cottonii) could be formulated and was stable in the form of an anti-acne gel and had antibacterial activity. In formula I with a concentration of 1% the inhibition zone formed was 36.33 mm, in formula II with a concentration of 3% the inhibition zone formed was 38.79 mm and in formula III with a concentration of 5% the inhibition zone formed was 34.27 mm. So which has optimal antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes is formula II with a concentration of 3% and an area of ​​inhibition zone of 38.79 mm.

Abstract

Purpose: Training on corn dodol processing and simple household bookkeeping as an effort to provide added value to products so that they have more economic value to increase community income and welfare, especially for young women, young mothers, and housewives in Paitana Village. Corn harvest results with high nutritional content can be processed into typical Paitana dodol Research: This method includes the Activity Preparation Stage, Activity Implementation, Activity Evaluation and Reporting on program implementation. Carried out in the form of socialization, lectures, questions and answers and product manufacturing practices Results: The results of the activity show the support and desire of the community, especially young women, mothers, and housewives who are PKK members in Paitana village enthusiastically participating in this training. There were 25 young women, mothers, and housewives. To understand the importance of processing lokal corn food to produce dodol products with high nutritional and economic value that can be sold on the market. Understanding the importance of marketing lokal Paitana corn dodol food-processing products with economic value. understand the importance of simple bookkeeping and household financial reports, so that business bookkeeping and household financial records can be carried out with business financial records. Limitations: Limited facilities and infrastructure, and participants who attended are limited to 25 people, as proposed. The packaging is still done using a simple design, and the dodol produced has not been marketed because it is still on a household training scale and there is no business permit. Contribution: This service is beneficial for the community, which processes the lokal potential of the region into family income and improves the community's economy.

Abstract

Bunga kacapiring (Gardenia augusta Merr) dan lemon (Citrus limon L.) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung beberapa senyawa aktif diantaranya yaitu flavonoid, saponin, alkaloid, dan tanin yang berkhasiat sebagai antibakteri, pada penelitian ini kedua bahan tersebut dibuat menjadi sediaan paper soap. Pembuatan sediaan paper soap ini adalah karena paper soap merupakan sebuah inovasi produk sediaan sabun yang unik yang lebih praktis, ringan dibawa kemana-mana dan dapat berkhasiat sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa ekstrak bunga kacapiring (Gardenia augusta Merr) dan kulit lemon (Citrus limon L.) dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan paper soap dan untuk membuktikan bahwa formulasi sediaan paper soap ini memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Metode penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan evaluasi sediaan secara fisika dan kimia serta pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dengan metode difusi teknik paper disc. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan adalah sediaan paper soap kombinasi ekstrak etanol bunga kacapiring (Gardenia augusta Merr) dan kulit lemon (Citrus limon L.) memiliki efek sebagai antibakteri terhadap Streptococcus aureus.

Abstract

Pharmacists are the source of information about drugs, but many people still need to familiarize themselves with the pharmacist profession. This causes problems for children as well as adults who lack knowledge about medicines in children, which can lead to drug abuse. This activity aims to educate elementary school students about the introduction of the pharmacist profession, an introduction to drugs, and to foster curiosity about the pharmacist profession from an early age. This activity was carried out at SD Negeri Parinring, Kec: Manggala, Makassar, with 35 participants from grade 6 elementary school students. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) model is used in community service activities, promoting community empowerment to participate. The action begins with an introduction to material delivered by pharmacists. After that, sing the pharmacist's jingle, and give questions to test the extent of drug knowledge possessed by elementary school students, the results of this community service, especially at SD Negeri Parinring, Kec. Manggala, Makassar can increase understanding and drug awareness early to minimize unwanted side effects and become an agent of change who can explain the confusion of drug information circulating among students.

Abstract

Daun bidara Arab (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) mengandung senyawa kimia berupa saponin, alkaloid, tanin dan flavonoid yang berkhasiat sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak daun bidara Arab dapat diformulasikan dalam bentuk sediaan paper soap dan melihat serta mengukur aktivitas antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis. Desain penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen laboratorium dengan evaluasi uji mutu fisik yang melalui Cycling Test serta pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dengan metode difusi teknik paper disk dengan menggunakan 3 konsentrasi yaitu 5%, 10%, 15% dan dua kontrol pendukung yaitu kontrol negatif dimana sediaan tanpa ekstrak juga kontrol positif yaitu paper soap. Hasil penelitian uji mutu fisik sediaan paper soap menunjukkan bahwa sediaan memenuhi syarat standar sediaan sabun dan memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dengan konsentrasi paling efektif yaitu konsentrasi 15% dengan diameter zona hambat yang terbentuk 6,9 mm termasuk kategori sedang.Ziziphus spina-christi L. contain chemical compounds such as saponins, alkaloids, tannins, and flavonoids that have antibacterial properties. This study aims to determine whether extracts from Ziziphus spina-christi L. leaf can be formulated into paper soap preparations and to assess whether these preparations exhibit antibacterial activity against the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis. The design of this research is a laboratory experimental study, evaluating physical quality tests through the Cycling Test and testing antibacterial activity using the paper disk diffusion method with three concentrations: 5%, 10%, and 15%, as well as two control groups: a negative control (preparation without extract) and a positive control (paper soap). The results of the physical quality test of the paper soap preparation indicate that it meets the standard criteria for soap preparations and exhibits antibacterial activity, with the most effective concentration being 15%, which formed an inhibition zone diameter of 6.9 mm, classified as moderate.

Abstract

Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) contains oxalic acid, potassium, phenols and flavonoids which are thought to be active antibacterial compounds. Flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds that are widely distributed in nature, including flavonols, flavones, flavanones, and catechins. This study aims to determine whether the ethanol extract of starfruit fruit can be formulated into a transdermal patch that is physically and chemically stable, to find out how effective the antipyretic is on rats (Rattus norvegicus). This research was a laboratory experimental study, which used three variations of concentration, namely 1%, 3%, 5% and two controls (-) which was a transdermal patch preparation without ethanol extract and control (+), namely the bye-bye fever patch. The results of the study stated that the formula without extract or control (-) did not have antipyretic effectiveness, for the control (+) it was effective in reducing fever in the 75th minute with a temperature of 35.1oC, at a concentration of 1% it was effective in reducing fever in the 105th minute with a temperature of 36,7oC, at a concentration of 3% was effective in reducing fever in the 120th minute with a temperature of 360C, and at a concentration of 5% it was most effective in reducing fever in the 75th minute with a temperature of 35.10C. It was concluded that the ethanol extract of starfruit fruit can be formulated into a physically and chemically stable transdermal patch preparation, and the transdermal patch preparation has antipyretic effectiveness against rats and at the most effective concentration for reducing the rat's body temperature was 5%.Keywords: starfruit fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi); transdermal patches; antipyretic ABSTRAK                                                                                              Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) mengandung asam oksalat, kalium, fenol dan flavonoid yang diduga merupakan senyawa aktif antibakteri. Flavonoid merupakan senyawa polifenol yang tersebar luas di alam, termasuk di dalamnya adalah flavonol, flavon, flavanon, dan katekin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh dapat diformulasi menjadi sediaan patch transdermal yang stabil secara fisika dan kimia, untuk mengetahui bagaimana efektivitas antipiretik terhadap tikus (Rattus norvegicus). Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimental laboratorium, yang menggunakan tiga variasi konsentrasi yaitu 1%, 3%, 5% dan dua kontrol takni kontrol (-) merupakan sediaan patch transdermal tanpa ekstrak etanol dan kontrol (+) yaitu patch bye-bye fever. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa formula tanpa ekstrak atau kontrol (-) tidak memiliki efektivitas antipiretik, untuk kontrol (+) efektif menurukan demam pada menit ke 75 dengan suhu 35,1oC, pada konsentrasi 1% efektif menurunkan demam pada menit ke 105 dengan suhu 36,70C, pada konsentrasi 3% efektif menurunkan demam pada menit ke 120 dengan suhu 360C, dan pada konsentrasi 5% paling efektif menurunkan demam pada menit ke 75 dengan suhu 35,10C. Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan patch transdermal yang stabil secara fisika dan kimia, dan sediaan patch transdermal memiliki efektivitas antipiretik terhadap tikus dan pada konsentrasi paling efektif untuk menurunkan suhu tubuh tikus adalah 5%.Kata kunci: buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi); patch transdermal; antipiretik

Abstract

Squid cartilage (Loligo sp.) is known to contain chitosan compounds that have antibacterial activity. This study aims to formulate chitosan from squid cartilage (Loligo sp.) in the form of handwash preparations with concentrations of 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3% which are physically and chemically stable, and see the optimum concentration in inhibiting bacterial growth. The method used is laboratory experiments through three stages of extraction, namely deproteination, demineralization, and deacetylation as well as physical quality tests and ability tests before and after cycling tests which include organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, foam height tests and antibacterial activity tests against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria by the method of sumuran. The results obtained based on the ANOVA test on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are 0.000 and on Escherichia coli bacteria are 0.000. Chitosan from squid cartilage (Loligo sp.) can be formulated in the form of a handwash preparation and the most effective concentration in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli is a concentration of 0.3%.

Abstract

Background: The formulation of gel preparations from laruna root extract (Chromolaena odorata L.) has been carried out using Na-CMC base accompanied by physical stability tests of the gel preparations. Objectives: to determine the physical stability of the laruna root extract gel preparation and its good concentration against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. Research method: The physical stability of the gel preparation was determined based on observations of changes in color, odor, shape, pH, uniformity, spreadability, and viscosity before and after storage for 6 cycles at temperatures of 4o C and 40oC. The pH test was carried out using a pH meter and viscosity measurements were carried out using a Brokfield viscometer. Results: The results of the study showed that the laruna root extract gel preparation was declared stable in the homogeneity indicator Results: The results showed that the gel preparation of laruna root extract could be said to be stable on homogeneity parameters where there were no solid particles in the preparation. Stable in good spreading power diameter, i.e. formulas 0, I, II, and III have a diameter of no more than 5-7 cm. For the results of measuring the viscosity of the gel preparation of laruna root extract, it is said to be stable because it is not more than 2000-4000 mPaS. For pH measurement, it is said to be stable because it has a pH in accordance with the quality requirements of skin preparations, which is 4.5-8.0. Conclusion: In the antibacterial activity test, a good clear zone result was obtained at a concentration of 0.3%.

Abstract

Ekstrak Buah Kelor (Moringa oleifera L.) memiliki senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, fenol, yang dapat menyembuhkan luka diabetes pada tikus putih Jantan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bahwa ekstrak etanol buah kelor (Moringa oleifera L.) dapat dijadikan sediaan gel yang stabil secara fisika dan kimia dan untuk mengetahui pada konsentrasi efektif ektrak etanol buah kelor (Moringa oleifera L.) dapat menyembuhkan luka diabetes pada tikus putih Jantan. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental laboratorium. Ekstrak buah kelor dimaserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%, lalu hasil diekstraksi diambil 5%,10% dan 15% untuk dibuat menjadi sediaan gel penyembuh luka diabetes dengan variasi konsentrasi F1 (5%), F2 (10%), dan F3 (15%). Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian pada luka diabetes pada tikus putih jantan. Hasil formulasi sediaan gel ekstrak buah kelor (Moringa oleifera L.) menunjukkan stabil pada pengujian organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya lekat dan daya sebar. Hasil uji terhadap luka diabetes menunjukkan bahwa F1 memiliki persentase penurunan diameter luka 100% pada hari ke-19, sedangkan untuk F2 dan F3 memiliki persentase penurunan diameter luka 100% pada hari ke-18 dan hari ke-17. Hasil analisis statistik One Way ANOVA, menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (p<0,05) persentase penurunan diameter luka diabetes pada tikus putih jantan dan konsentrasi efektif F3 (15%). This study aims to determine that moringa fruit ethanol extract (Moringa oleifera L.) can be used as a physically and chemically stable gel preparation and to determine the concentration of moringa fruit ethanol extract (Moringa oleifera L.) that is effective in healing diabetic wounds in male white rats. This research method was conducted experimentally in the laboratory. Moringa fruit extract was macerated using 96% ethanol solvent, then the extraction results were taken 5%, 10%, 15% to be used as a gel preparation as a diabetic wound healing gel with variations in concentration, namely F1 (5%). F2 (10%), and F3 (15%). Furthermore, testing was carried out on diabetic wounds in male white rats. The results of the formulation of moringa fruit extract gel preparation (Moringa oleifera L.) showed stable in organoleptical testing, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion and spreadability. The test results on diabetic wounds showed that F1 had a percentage decrease in wound diameter of 100% on day 19, while for F2 and F3 had a percentage decrease in wound diameter of 100% on day 18 and day 17. The results of One Way ANOVA statistical analysis, showed a significant difference (p<0.05) in the percentage of diabetic wound diameter reduction in male white rats and the effective concentration of F3 (15%).

Abstract

Di Indonesia, populasi usia lanjut terus meningkat seiring dengan tingginya angka harapan hidup. Menurut Badan Pusat Statistik, jumlah penduduk lansia di Indonesia pada tahun 2024 diperkirakan mencapai lebih dari 26 juta orang. Lansia sering kali menghadapi berbagai tantangan kesehatan yang kompleks, termasuk penyakit kronis seperti diabetes, hipertensi, dan gangguan jantung. Selain itu, mereka juga cenderung menggunakan beberapa jenis obat secara bersamaan, yang dikenal sebagai polifarmasi. Polifarmasi dapat meningkatkan risiko terjadinya efek samping, interaksi antar obat, serta kesalahan penggunaan obat, yang semuanya dapat berdampak negatif pada kesehatan lansia. Dalam konteks ini, peran apoteker menjadi sangat vital. Apoteker memiliki pengetahuan mendalam tentang farmakologi, termasuk mekanisme kerja obat, interaksi obat, dan efek samping yang mungkin terjadi. Dengan pengetahuan ini, apoteker dapat memberikan edukasi yang tepat kepada lansia mengenai cara penggunaan obat yang aman dan efektif. Edukasi ini meliputi informasi mengenai dosis yang benar, waktu yang tepat untuk mengonsumsi obat, serta tanda-tanda efek samping yang perlu diwaspadai. Selain itu, apoteker juga dapat membantu lansia dalam memahami pentingnya mematuhi regimen pengobatan yang telah ditentukan oleh dokter, sehingga dapat mencegah komplikasi yang lebih serius. Pemeriksaan kesehatan secara berkala juga merupakan aspek penting dalam pengelolaan kesehatan lansia. Melalui pemeriksaan rutin, masalah kesehatan dapat terdeteksi lebih awal, sehingga penanganan yang tepat dapat dilakukan. Apoteker dapat berkontribusi dalam hal ini dengan mengedukasi masyarakat tentang pentingnya pemeriksaan kesehatan dan bagaimana cara mengakses layanan kesehatan yang ada. Dengan memberikan informasi yang akurat dan mudah dipahami, apoteker dapat memberdayakan lansia untuk mengambil keputusan yang lebih baik terkait kesehatan mereka.
