Abstract

River debris in Jakarta is generated in several locations by conventional transportation. Waste transportation with traditional models is usually not time-efficient, primarily when river debris is generated every time. Transport systems that can be used for river debris include compactor systems, pre-compactor systems, and baller systems. This research uses literature study and secondary data in determining alternatives. Meanwhile, the alternative selection was carried out using the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method. This study uses four criteria for selecting alternatives: initial capital, type of transport container, operation and maintenance, and processing capability. The utility value of waste transportation with compaction and pre-compacting systems does not significantly have utility values of 0.722 and 0.833, respectively. At the same time, the baller system has a utility value of 0.222. This shows that the compacted system is more suitable to be applied to SPA river debris in Jakarta. The presence of a pr-compactor can also reduce the water content in-river debris.

Abstract

The waste from the river is one of the obstacles in managing the Bengawan Solo River, Surakarta City. River debris is usually collected in tributaries so as not to carry the pollutant load to the watershed, causing flooding, and then transported to the Final Processing Site (TPA). This study aims to analyze the waste transportation system from the source to the landfill. This research was conducted by direct observation and using Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) for determination. Alternative waste transportation used are haul container system (HCS) and stationary container system (SCS). The criteria used are the number of ritations, price, ease of transportation, potential damage, maintenance, and type of container. Based on the weighting results on the MAUT analysis, transportation with the SCS method has a higher weight than the HCS method.

Abstract

One of the fish handling techniques needed to maintain fish freshness is the cold chain application. Cold chain system is very important to be applied in the post-catch handling process to extend the fish rigor mortis phase. Fishermen and fishmongers are people who play an important role in maintaining fish freshness. The purpose of this study was to determine the fresh sardine organoleptic quality after catching until reaching consumers or initial selling. The method used is a survey method through on board direct fish handling activity observation conducted by fishermen and fishmongers at selling locations, as well as fish organoleptic tests using score sheets for fresh fish with observations based on transit time starting from fishing vessel after catching, collectors, fishmongers to the first consumers. Organoleptic quality measurement of sardine taken from fishmongers in Atapupu waters showed that sardine quality fitted for consumption with an organoleptic value of >7.

Abstract

The biofloc system is a solution for intensive cultivation activities. This is because in biofloc system the are heterotrophic bacteria that can reuse waste from cultured organisms so as to improve water quality. However, the biofloc system can cause high nitrite production if the dissolved oxygen concentration in the water is below the optimum value. High nitrite concentrations can cause brown nitrite, causing fish to suffocate even though the oxygen concentration in the water is sufficient. Polyculture can be a solution to reduce the concentration of biofloc so that brown nitrite can be prevented. Therefore, a research was conducted with the aim of knowing the effect of the composition of the best polyculture biota in order to produce high cultivation performance. The ratio of tilapia and catfish used included 80% catfish and 20% tilapia fish (treatment A), 70% catfish and 30% tilapia fish (treatment B), 60% catfish and 40% tilapia ( treatment C), and 100% catfish (treatment D). Maintenance is carried out for 60 days where feeding is done on a restricted basis. The results of the research carried out showed that the best FCR, ADG and SR were in treatment C with consecutive values of 1.27 ± 0.02 (FCR), 1.4 g/day (ADG) on the last maintenance day, 95.11 ± 1.02% (SR). This study shows that the performance of cultivation in biofloc systems in polyculture is better than monoculture.

Abstract

There are still many people in Jakarta who throw their garbage into the river, resulting Jakarta city never being absent from the problems of river water pollution and flooding. Pesanggrahan River and Grogol River are some of the big river surrounded by high popullation area. All waste originating from the Pesanggrahan River and the Grogol River is dumped into the Bantar Gebang Landfill. This study aimed to reduce waste entering landfills are by making use of waste that still has economic value. The method used in decision making from various alternatives of the river waste utilization are utility theory and compromise programming. It takes planning to find out the composition and generation of solid waste from those rivers and to determine the potential use of river waste and the action to minimize and handle the river waste. Utilization of river waste that can be applied based on the composition of most waste is open windrow composting and plastic shredding. It is important to concern about river waste since Indonesia has various polluted river, especially by solid waste. By implementing a good river waste utilization, the waste that enters the landfill will be reduced and in line with reduced pollution to the aquatic environment. Abstract

This study explores the potential for managing biodegradable marine debris waste in Jakarta City through composting, aiming to reduce and treat this waste effectively. In Jakarta, river debris predominantly consists of materials that degrade easily and are biodegradable. Composting represents the most straightforward method for processing this type of organic waste. The study's objective was to evaluate the feasibility of composting organic biodegradable river debris as a waste management strategy. Data collection was conducted at Emplacement Pluit, utilizing random sampling with the four quadrants method. Out of the total river debris generated daily, which amounts to 309 m³, approximately 9.07 m³/day was found suitable for composting. The composting process resulted in a significant reduction of river debris volume by 50.15% within a 30-day detention period. This process was facilitated by mesophilic microbial activity at temperatures between 30-38°C. During the first two weeks, the composting environment remained acidic until the pH stabilized to a normal range between 6.8 and 7.49. A notable observation was the high initial water content of the river debris, recorded at 53.846%, which only reduced to 42.857% by the end of the 30-day decomposition period. Therefore, a pretreatment step is recommended to optimize the water content before composting. Despite these challenges, the compost produced met the required standards set by SNI 19-7030-2004. This study underscores the importance of managing biodegradable organic waste at its source to alleviate the burden on landfills, which are currently operating beyond their capacity.
