Abstract

Abstract

Arabic grammar learning is challenging and complex for learners to understand. This research aims to investigate lecturers and students learning Arabic grammar with an active learning model. This research uses a qualitative research method with an investigative approach. The data was obtained through interviews with four lecturers (Nahwu and Sharaf course teachers) and four students. It was then categorized, interpreted, and analyzed. The results showed that Arabic grammar learning already uses an active learning model. This is evidenced by the following five aspects: the application of student-centered learning, the use of engaging learning media, the creation of a pleasant environment, the use of problem-solving-based learning, and teamwork/collaboration in learning. The results of this study have an excellent opportunity to be adopted in Arabic language learning by all Islamic universities around Indonesia, especially in learning Nahwu and Sharaf.

Abstract

The utilization of digital-based game systems to enhance Arabic language learning outcomes has become a prevalent trend in recent times. This research aims to explore students' perceptions and motivations regarding the implementation of gamification systems in Arabic vocabulary learning. Specifically, the study investigates how students perceive and what motivates them after using Kahoot! App and Wordwall in their Arabic vocabulary learning journey. The research involved 30 students enrolled in the program of Arabic Language and Literature at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, Indonesia. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to students after using both applications during Arabic vocabulary lessons. Afterward, the data was subjected to analysis utilizing descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that, on average, students held a highly positive perception and exhibited significant motivation towards Kahoot! And Wordwall. However, in general, students preferred Kahoot! over Wordwall. This discovery is a valuable recommendation for teachers, lecturers, and practitioners involved in Arabic language learning, suggesting that these gamification systems be included as an integral part of the curriculum to support the Arabic learning process.

Abstract

Tadris al-'Arabiyyah al-Mukatssaf (TAM) is a course given to semester 1 students of Arabic Language Education, Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Kediri. This course aims to prepare new students with standard Arabic language skills so they will be able to learn Arabic language courses in the next semester easily. The development of this textbook is based on contextual teaching and learning (CTL) because CTL is a student-oriented approach which can lead students to become more active and can generate self-directed in learning. The textbook development uses the ADDIE procedure with 5 development steps and ends with an experimental test to reveal the effectiveness. This research produced a textbook Tadris al-'Arabiyyah al-Mukatssaf based on Contextual Teaching and Learning with its seven principles, which are: constructivism, inquiry, questioning, learning community, modeling, reflection and authentic assessment. This textbook contains 21 dars (units). Each dars (unit) contains 4 material: 1) ta'bir al-shuurah, 2) hiwar, 3) nash qiraah, and 4) qawaid. In hiwar, nash qiraah and qawaid are equipped with practice questions and a list of mufrodat and Arabic expressions. The results of the effectiveness test with the pre-test and post-test designs revealed that the average post-test score was at 65.33, higher than the pre-test average score at 56.35. Total T count of 9.90 is higher than T table of 1.98 which means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Abstract

The emergence of ChatGPT has transformed the landscape of translation. Despite some criticisms associated with its use, ChatGPT is widely recognized and utilized by the public, particularly in the translation process. Consequently, it is essential to conduct a quality assessment of ChatGPT's translation outcomes to evaluate the extent to which these translations are contextual and accurately convey the intended message of the source language. This paper aims to analyze the quality of ChatGPT's translation results, focusing on accuracy, acceptability, and readability of Arabic news texts. This research employs a qualitative descriptive methodology with a literature review approach. The data sources consist of selected news articles from the Sky News Arabia news page, specifically in the categories of education, health, and sports. These were selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data collection methods include documentation and literature review. The research findings will be analyzed using content analysis based on Nababan's translation quality assessment model, which encompasses accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The results indicate that, overall, the translations produced by ChatGPT achieve high scores in accuracy, acceptability, and readability in news articles sourced from Sky News Arabia.
