Abstract

Background Problems: Self-regulation, which includes positive behavior, metacognitive awareness, and motivation, is critical to adolescents' development.  Despite its benefits in structured activities such as martial arts, there is a lack of existing tools to assess self-regulation among adolescent martial arts participants. This study addresses this gap by developing an instrument to measure adolescents' self-regulation abilities. Research Objectives: This research aims to adapt an instrument in the form of a questionnaire to measure self-regulation in martial arts activities. Methods: The author uses the cross-cultural adaptation method. Adapting research instruments is not just a language change. There is an aspect of cross-cultural adaptation that is important so that the research instrument can measure what it should measure (valid) and be reliable (consistent in measurement). A total of 58 participants were involved in three stages of instrument validity, consisting of 21 pencak silat students, 18 karate students, and 19 taekwondo students who were selected proportionally. Findings/Results: After data analysis, the results of this research are 67 SR-MAQ question items declared valid and reliable. Conclusion: The development of the SR-MAQ instrument allows for the measurement of the self-regulation of teenage martial arts practitioners, contributing to their positive development. To expand the utility and generalisability of this instrument, we need further research involving a wider age range and participants from different types of martial arts. This will not only increase the relevance of the findings but also provide richer insights into the role of self-regulation in various adolescent activity contexts.

Abstract

The progressive world of education needs to be accelerated by fulfilling the competencies of prospective teachers who are also progressive through a series of performance tasks that are relevant to learning needs in the 21st century. This research used Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) to innovate an integrated learning model for a micro-teaching course. A needs analysis was conducted on 75 students, two lecturers, and 30 teachers to assess actual performance, confirm desired performance, and identify causes of performance gaps. Researchers then designed performance tasks and validated them by 10 raters, tested them on 337 students to test the outer and inner models, and tested them on 30 students, 28 lecturers, and 49 teachers to test differences. Test content validity using the Aiken-V formula and test inter-rater reliability using ICC. Meanwhile, testing the validity and reliability of the construct uses outer and inner model analysis (CB-SEM), and the difference test uses ANOVA. The content validity results prove that all task performance meets the Aiken parameters (0.75-1.00), the interrater reliability value is 0.573, and the Cronbach alpha value is 0.931. Testing the outer model proves that the loading factor task performance value ranges from 0.709-0.874, the Cronbach alpha value ranges from 0.768-0.880, the composite reliability value ranges from 0.768-0.879, the AVE value ranges from 0.580-0.649, and the discriminant validity value ranges from 0.761-0.806. The inner model test proves that the Chi-Square/df value = 2.254, RMSEA value = 0.061, SRMR value = 0.036, NFI value = 0.910, TLI value = 0.936, and CFI value = 0.948. Meanwhile, the results of the ANOVA test confirm that the Sig value = 0.098, so it can be concluded that there are no significant differences between the three sample groups regarding the model innovation results. Thus, the 25-task performance in the integrated learning model has a significant psychometric function relative to the actual situation, so it becomes one of the references that lecturers can use to improve the competency of prospective teachers in micro-teaching courses (not limited to teaching skills, analytical thinking skills, academic integrity, and transformational leadership). Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2024-08-06-020 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the problem-based learning model on improving passing skills in futsal games. The background of this study is based on the low passing skills of students in futsal games and the lack of variety in learning methods applied by sports teachers, which causes students to feel bored and unmotivated. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were 99 students, and the sample was taken as many as 30 students with purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a passing skill test with cardboard target media. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and pretest and posttest, then analyzed using SPSS version 22 with various statistical tests, including normality test, paired sample t-test, and independent sample t-test. The average passing score of the PBL model increased from 56.67 in the pretest to 83.67 in the posttest. In contrast, the conventional method only increased from 55.33 to 69.67. The paired sample t-test test resulted in a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which indicated a significant increase in the experimental group before and after treatment. The conclusion is that there is a significant effect of applying the PBL model on improving students' passing skills.

Abstract

Children with hyperactivity conditions, often known as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity condition), frequently struggle with socialization and emotional regulation. This results from a failure to pay attention to and comprehend social norms. Therefore, strategies are required to address these issues, including the use of aquatic or water-based physical activities. This study will further investigate the function of water activities in enhancing hyperactive children's social and emotional development. Eight participants, three hyperactive kids, three parents of hyperactive kids, and two swimming coaches, were included in this study, which was conducted at one of the Cilacap Regency swimming pools using a qualitative case study methodology. Data triangulation, which included field observations, interviews, and documentation, was used to acquire the data. Using the NVivo 15 pro tool, data analysis was completed by classifying and coding significant themes as research results. Important discoveries have emerged about the function of aquatic activities, their effects, hyperactive children's social interactions, and the methods trainers employ to enhance their social and emotional development. According to Erik Erikson's theory of social-emotional development, aquatic activities help hyperactive kids develop socially and emotionally by promoting energy management, emotion regulation, more focus, social interaction, and coach strategies like play media, regular evaluation, and individualized approaches. Parents, trainers, educators, and even therapists will learn from this study about the advantages of aquatic activities to promote hyperactive kids' social and emotional growth.

Abstract

Enhancing student health and improving the quality of education are the core objectives of the School Health Program (UKS). However, its implementation continues to face several challenges, including inadequate facilities, limited student awareness of health, and low parental engagement. This study aims to evaluate the application of School-Based Management (MBS) in supporting the effectiveness of the UKS program. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was used. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, and document analysis, involving school principals, physical education teachers (PJOK), and students as participants. Data analysis was conducted using NVivo 12 software to explore relationships among variables. The findings reveal that the implementation of SBM within the UKS program has yet to be fully optimized. Schools struggle to provide adequate health facilities, develop student health cadres, and coordinate with community health centres (Puskesmas). Limited human resources and a lack of parental involvement also remain significant barriers. In addition, UKS policies in some schools are not yet systematically structured, leading to less effective implementation. Nevertheless, the UKS program holds strong potential to enhance the quality of health education. Ensuring greater effectiveness and sustainability requires more focused policies, adequate resource support, and strengthened collaboration with external health professionals.

Abstract

AbstractThis paper examines the wealth collector in Surah al-Humazah, where they frequently disregard their obligation to worship God and are continually focused on multiplying their riches until they believe all they acquire could make them eternal. They believe they have abundant wealth, so they easily belittle others. This study employed a literature review method based on Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory approach. The stages of the approach are syntagmatic analysis, paradigmatic analysis, binary opposition, and history confirmation. According to the findings of this study, there is coherence between verses in the Surah al-Humazah when using syntagmatic analysis. Second, wealth collectors are those with immoral tendencies who like to curse and blame. Also, they believe that their fortune would be able to eternalize them, making them hesitant to share. Hence, they threatened with hell huthamah. Furthermore, Surah al-Humazah has a secret message for every Muslim to practice social charity to create harmony among individuals in society. Keywords: al-Humazah; Binary opposition; Paradigmatic; syntagmatic.
