Abstract

Fusarium sp. is a serious problem for various plant commodities because of its ability to act as a pathogen and cause damage to plant anatomy and morphology. The rhizosphere fungus of the mother-in-law's tongue plant has more abundant inhibitory mechanisms and is able to directly inhibit hyphae growth and suppress the growth of pathogenic fungi, so it was chosen as a biocontrol agent in this research. The aim of this research was to determine the antagonistic properties and ability of the rhizosphere fungus from the mother-in-law's tongue plant (Sansevieria trifasciata Prain) against the fungus Fusarium sp. This research was carried out with data analysis starting with sterilization and making media, then taking soil samples from the rhizosphere of the mother-in-law's tongue using the purposive random sampling to continue with the isolation and purification stage of the rhizosphere fungus of the mother-in-law's tongue plant. Antagonist test of fungi from the rhizosphere of snake plant against the fungus Fusarium sp. carried out using a double culture method (dual culture). The data obtained were then analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2013 to obtain an average inhibition which shows the potential of fungi from the rhizosphere of the plants as controlling agents for the fungus Fusarium sp. The results of isolation and antagonistic tests, the five isolates of snake plant rhizosphere fungus (Sansevieria trifasciata Prain) have varying inhibitions ranging from very weak to moderate. The highest inhibition against Fusarium sp. was shown by isolate JDT12, while the lowest inhibition was shown by isolate JDT11. The antagonism mechanism found by isolate JDT12 is the antibiosis mechanism.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of CTL- based LKPD containing the local potential of Padangsidimpuan fruit plants in biodiversity material for class 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The instruments used in the research were teacher and student needs analysis sheets, material expert and media expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaire sheets, and test questions in the form of pretest and posttest to measure students' understanding of biodiversity material. The validity of the LKPD obtained from material experts was 89% and media experts were 100% in the very valid category. The practicality of the LKPD obtained from the biology teacher response questionnaire was 85% in the very practical category and 84.33% of the students' responses were in the very practical category. The effectiveness of the LKPD was obtained through test questions in the form of pretest and posttest with an N-Gain presentation of 0.73% in the quite effective category with a percentage of 73% in the high category. The three aspects of validity, practicality and effectiveness with a large percentage show that Contextual Teaching and Learning-based LKPD contains local potential for biodiversity material that is suitable for use in learning activities. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kelayakan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan dari LKPD berbasis CTL bermuatan potensi lokal tanaman buah Padangsidimpuan pada materi keanekaragaman hayati kelas X MAN 1 Padangsidimpuan sebagai bahan ajar yang dapat membantu guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran Biologi serta membantu Peserta didik untuk memahami materi keanekragaman hayati dengan cara yang mudah dan meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta didik mengenai keberadaan tanaman buah yang ada di Padangsidempuan serta menjaga kelestariannya.. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan Research and Development (RnD) dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian berupa lembar analisis kebutuhan guru dan peserta didik, lembar validasi ahli materi dan ahli media, lembar angket respon guru dan peserta didik, dan soal test berupa pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur pemahaman siswa mengenai materi keanekaragaman hayati. Validitas LKPD yang didapatkan dari ahli materi adalah sebesar 89% dan ahli media sebesar 100% dengan kategori sangat valid. Kepraktisan LKPD diperoleh dari angket respon guru biologi 85% dengan kategori sangat praktis dan peserta didik 84,33% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Keefektifan LKPD diperoleh melalui soal test berupa pretest dan posttest dengan presentasi N-Gain 0,73% kategori cukup efektif dengan persentare 73% dengan kategori tinggi. Ketiga aspek validitas, kepraktisan dan keefektifan dengan presentase yang besar menunjukkan bahwasannya LKPD berbasis Contekstual Teaching and Learning bermuatan potensi lokal materi Keanekaragaman hayati layak untuk dipergunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' ‎problem-solving abilities in the topic of the human respiratory system at SMA Negeri 1 Bahorok. ‎The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a ‎pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 60 11th-grade science students ‎divided into two groups: an experimental class (using PBL) and a control class (using ‎conventional learning). The instrument used was an essay test consisting of 10 questions. The ‎results showed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and ‎control classes. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 95.00, while the ‎control class scored 63.33. The Independent Samples t-Test indicated a significance value of ‎‎0.000 (< 0.05), confirming that the PBL model significantly influenced the improvement of ‎students' problem-solving abilities. Therefore, the PBL model is effective in enhancing students' ‎problem-solving skills, particularly in biology lessons on the respiratory system.‎

Abstract

Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan RI NO.492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010 menyatakan bahwa air minum harus memenuhi kriteria tertentu agar dapat dianggap layak dikonsumsi.  Kriteria tersebut antara lain tingkat kontaminasi 0 koloni per 100 ml untuk keberadaan bakteri koliform dan bakteri Escherichia coli.  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengisolasi dan mengkarakterisasi bakteri Escherichia coli yang terdapat pada sumber air minum di Desa Banjar Toba yang terletak di Kecamatan Berampu.  Berdasarkan hasil penelitian isolasi dan identifikasi, diketahui terdapat bakteri Escherichia coli pada 7 sampel, dengan metode isolasi bakteri menggunakan media Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB) dan uji Total Plate Count (TPC).  Kesimpulan ini didukung oleh hasil yang diperoleh dari pewarnaan gram.  Berdasarkan pengamatan kelimpahan bakteri Escherichia coli, ditentukan bahwa sampel MA 7 x 100 menunjukkan kelimpahan tertinggi, sedangkan sampel MA 4 20 x 100 menunjukkan kelimpahan terendah. Berdasarkan penelitian ditemukan bahwa sumber air minum di Desa Banjar Toba tidak memenuhi persyaratan yang telah ditentukan oleh Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan NO.492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010.

Abstract

Brucellosis adalah penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Brucella sp., yang dapat menginfeksi berbagai jenis hewan ternak dan manusia. Penyakit ini sering kali menimbulkan masalah serius dalam peternakan dan kesehatan masyarakat karena kemampuannya untuk menyebar melalui kontak dengan hewan yang terinfeksi atau produk-produk hewani yang terkontaminasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi bakteri Brucella sp. yang menjadi penyebab Brucellosis pada kambing. Metode yang digunakan mencakup isolasi bakteri menggunakan media TSA (Tryptic Soy Agar) dan uji RBT (Rose Bengal Test), serta analisis data penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif. Hasil dari isolasi bakteri menunjukkan bahwa dua sampel dari jumlah total sampel darah kambing yang diperiksa menunjukkan hasil positif terhadap bakteri Brucella sp. dengan kode isolat KB1 dan SdJ2 dengan media TSA. Identifikasi dilakukan berdasarkan pertumbuhan koloni yang khas pada media kultur, serta analisis pewarnaan gram yang mengungkapkan karakteristik mikroorganisme di bawah mikroskop. Namun, hasil uji RBT menunjukkan hasil yang kurang memuaskan dalam mendeteksi Brucella sp., dengan tidak adanya penggumpalan dan ketidakkonsistenan warna ungu kemerahan pada serum. Perbedaan ini menyoroti tantangan dalam menggunakan metode tes tunggal untuk diagnosis yang akurat, karena adanya kemungkinan hasil negatif palsu atau rendahnya sensitivitas tes. Oleh karena itu, untuk memastikan diagnosis yang lebih akurat dan dapat diandalkan, disarankan untuk menggunakan lebih dari satu prosedur tes lanjutan, seperti ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) dan PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). Kombinasi metode ini dapat meningkatkan kepekaan dan spesifisitas diagnosa Brucellosis pada hewan ternak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran Biologi berbasis Android pada materi pencemaran lingkungan dan upaya pelestariannya, serta untuk menguji kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan media tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 25 siswa kelas X MAS Plus Al-Ulum. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara dengan guru biologi dan peserta didik, penyebaran angket dengan skala Likert dalam bentuk ceklis, serta dokumentasi sebagai pelengkap.Pada tahap pengembangan, hasil validasi media pembelajaran oleh dosen ahli bahan ajar memperoleh nilai rata-rata 3,563, dosen ahli materi memperoleh nilai rata-rata 3,833, dan penilaian guru biologi memperoleh nilai rata-rata 3,584.Pada tahap implementasi, dilakukan dua kali pertemuan masing-masing 45 menit. Evaluasi menunjukkan respon siswa terhadap media pembelajaran Biologi berbasis Android dengan skor rata-rata (x) = 4,11 dari skor maksimum (xmax) = 5,00, yang menandakan media tersebut berada dalam kategori yang baik dan tidak memerlukan revisi. Hasil post-test menunjukkan tingkat keefektifan media pembelajaran dengan persentase ketuntasan sebesar 91,67%.Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, media pembelajaran Biologi berbasis Android efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi pencemaran lingkungan dan upaya pelestariannya, serta layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas X MAS Plus Al-Ulum.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to integrate Islamic values into the nervous system material and develop augmented reality media to enhance student motivation and learning outcomes in a private high school. The specific objectives are to increase student motivation and learning outcomes through media use and evaluate the suitability of the developed media. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. Fifty-four students participated, including 26 in the experimental group and 28 in the control group. Data were collected through expert validation questionnaires, learning motivation surveys, and tests. Tools used included media validation, learning motivation surveys, and tests. Data analysis involved evaluating media suitability, student motivation, and learning outcomes. Media verification results by validators yielded an average score of 96.01%, classified as "very good". Teacher media assessment averaged 96.87%, also categorized as "highly satisfactory". Student responses to augmented reality scored 88.9%, interpreted as good response criteria. Average motivation survey scores were 96.50% for the experimental group (sufficient category) and 38.51% for the control group (moderate category). Average learning performance test scores were 86.50% for the experimental group and 31.09% for the control group. The study concludes that augmented reality learning media are effective and suitable for enhancing motivation and learning outcomes in biology classes by integrating the nervous system and Islamic values.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to create a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, specifically in the field of Biology. The goal is to enhance students' creative thinking skills during the study of biodiversity. The Student Worksheets (LKPD) developed are intended to be valid, practical, and effective. This study involves research and development activities using the 4-D model consisting of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating stages. The research was conducted at Muhammadiyah 8 High School Kisaran during the academic year 2023/2024. Data collection was carried out using validation sheets, student questionnaires, and testing devices. Subsequently, data were collected using the N-Gain formula. The PBL-STEM based LKPD was deemed valid by media validators with 96% agreement, material validators with 89%, and instrument validators with 95%. Feasibility analysis showed that the PBL-STEM based LKPD produced is highly practical for student use, as evidenced by a high N-Gain score of 0.92. This study concludes that the developed PBL-STEM based LKPD is valid, practical, and useful in enhancing students' creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the number of individuals and describe the daily behavior, movements, body position, and forest strata preferences of Tapanuli orangutans (Pongo tapanuliensis) at Camp Mayang Batang Toru Research Station, North Sumatra. This study used the focal animal sampling method and data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation with binoculars of daily activities carried out on target orangutans. This research was conducted from October 2023 to March 2024. Data analysis was carried out by descriptive statistics of the frequency of orangutan behavior based on activities carried out at Camp Mayang Station, Batang Toru, North Tapanuli, North Sumatra and presented in the form of tables and figures and then explained in the form of diagrams or graphs. The results of this study showed that there were 3 individual Tapanuli orangutans (Pongo tapanuliensis), namely Cemara, Beta, and Bittang. Daily activities observed included eating, moving, resting and other activities. Frequent movement activities were hanging up, walking on two legs and descending. Body positions that orangutans often do are Sitting, Squatting and Standing on two legs or one leg Forest stratum level 3 is more frequently used by orangutans than forest stratum level 4.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop valid, effective, and practical teaching materials in the form of LKPD (Student Worksheet) on biotechnology based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) for XII grade students. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation).The research started with the analysis stage, which included curriculum analysis and analysis of teacher and student needs. Then, the design stage was conducted to prepare the initial product design. Next, the development stage aimed to produce a feasible LKPD based on HOTS in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Finally, the implementation stage showed that the developed LKPD was highly practical and effective for use as teaching material. The research results show that (1) The validity of LKPD was obtained from validation sheets, with 100% for media, 88.39% for material, and 72.22% for questions. (2) The practicality of LKPD was obtained from teacher and student response questionnaires, with 100% and 88.85%, respectively. (3) The effectiveness of LKPD was obtained with pretest and posttest, with an n-Gain value of 0.93 and a percentage of 93%. Thus, the LKPD is declared feasible for use.
