Abstract

More than 5,000 babies are born suffering  thalassemia (beta thalassemia major and beta thalassemia Hb E) annually from around the world and 80% of births occur in developing countries (Kantharaj & Chandrashekar, 2018). In Indonesia alone, the frequency of beta thalassemia genes ranges from 3-10% with 2,500 babies born each year and there are 10,531 more patients experiencing thalassemia (Kemenkes, 2019). The general objective of this study was to identify the relationship between nutritional status and changes in hemoglobin levels after transfusion in children with thalassemia at RSD Gunungjati Cirebon. This research method uses descriptive correlation by using a cross sectional. The sample of this research is thalassemia in Gunung Jati Hospital, Cirebon City, totaling 35 respondents using  accidental sampling technique. The instrument used is a data and measurement recapitulation sheet. The nutritional status data recapitulation sheet containing components (gender, age, weight, TB) and measurement of Hb before and after blood transfusion using EasyTouch GCHB, as well as data analysis using the Spearman rank, was carried out on July 4-15, 2022. The results of the univariate analysis of the study This is in the category of good nutritional status as many as 18 respondents (51.4%) and an increase in hemoglobin levels of 18 respondents (51.4%) in thalassemia children at Gunungjati Hospital, Cirebon. The results of this study found that there was no relationship between nutritional status and changes in hemoglobin levels in thalassemia children at RSD Gunungjati Cirebon with a value (p = 0.252 > = 0.05).Suggestions for this study are that families and patients should strive to carry out the education provided by nurses and explore more knowledge related to thalassemia, especially nutritional intake.

Abstract

The application of patient safety is influenced by five factors namely individual factors and nurse performance, work environment factors, patient factors, organizational factors, and external factors. This explanation concludes that patient safety performance as an organization's quality performance is influenced by the role of the leader in it. Leadership is an aspirational power, strength, enthusiasm, and creative moral strength that is able to influence members to change attitudes, so that they come to understand the leader's desires. The behavior of the group or organization becomes the aspirations of the leader. by the interpersonal influence of the leader on his subordinates. Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT2) is a chronic disease that is prone to cause complications, one of which is diabetic foot sores. The duration of suffering from DMT2 is thought to contribute to the increased risk of injury. This study aims to determine the relationship between the length of suffering from DMT2 and the incidence of injuries in patients at Posbindu Bima Ceria. This study uses a quantitative approach with an analytical descriptive design and a cross-sectional method. The number of respondents was 22 people who were selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires and direct observation and analyzed using the Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that 17 respondents (77.3%) had suffered from DMT2 ≥5 years, and 15 of them (86.7%) had injuries. Meanwhile, of the 5 respondents who suffered from DMT2 <5 years, only 2 people (40%) were injured. The results of the statistical test showed a value of p = 0.002 (< α 0.05), which means that there is a significant relationship between the length of time of suffering from DMT2 and the incidence of injury. This study shows that the longer a person suffers from DMT2, the higher the risk of injury. Injury prevention through routine monitoring and foot care education is very important, especially for patients with a duration of more than five years

Abstract

Background & Objective: Postoperative pain is a physiological response that patients can feel. Non-pharmacological pain management that can alleviate pain includes finger grip relaxation therapy. Finger grip relaxation techniques involve finger gripping and breath control. Energy flow is perceived as a stimulus for relaxation; reflex points on the hands provide reflex stimulation during the grip, and this stimulation redirects electrical waves to the brain, which processes them and transmits them to the nerves in the affected body organs. This study aims to investigate the application of finger grip therapy in reducing post-operative pain in the Wijaya Kusuma Bawah Ward of Kardinah General Hospital in Tegal City. Method: A descriptive method was used with the application of case study results. Result: Finger grip therapy was applied for 3 days to patients with post-debridement lymphadenopathy experiencing acute pain. The study showed that subjects experienced moderate pain before receiving finger grip therapy, and after the therapy, patients experienced a reduction in pain to mild pain. Conclusion: In this study, finger grip therapy was effective in reducing pain levels in post-operative patients.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Heart failure is a complex syndrome that arises from conditions that impair the ventricles' ability to pump oxygen-rich blood, with common symptoms including dyspnea and edema. One complementary therapy for managing edema is foot massage. According to WHO data, the global prevalence of heart failure is 26 million cases. Meanwhile, West Java ranks fourth with a prevalence of 1.18% or 156,977 cases (Indonesian Health Survey, 2023). Method: A descriptive method was used with the application of case study results. Result: Foot massage was applied over three days, and changes were observed in the legs of patients with edema. Conclusion: It can be concluded that foot massage therapy is effective in reducing leg edema in patients with congestive heart failure because the massage promotes smoother lymphatic fluid flow, particularly from smaller lymphatic vessels to larger ones. This process is crucial because blocked or slowed lymphatic flow can reduce immune system effectiveness and disrupt bodily fluid balance.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Schizophrenia is a persistent and serious neurobiological brain disorder, a clinical syndrome that can cause damage to the lives of individuals, families, and communities. One of its symptoms is that a person with schizophrenia will experience auditory hallucinations. Hallucinations are false perceptual distortions resulting from maladaptive neurobiological responses. The client actually experiences sensory distortions but perceives them as real. To address hallucinations, two techniques can be employed: pharmacological and non-pharmacological. Pharmacological techniques involve collaborating with a doctor to administer medication such as Haloperidol, Serenace, Lodomer, or Chlorpromazine. Non-pharmacological techniques include individual therapy, biological therapy, cognitive therapy, environmental therapy, family therapy, and behavioral therapy. Method: A qualitative approach using a case study research design was employed. The subject of this study was one client with auditory hallucinations in Room Wisma Lily 9. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. Result: The case study results showed that the sensory perception disorder was resolved. Therefore, it can be concluded that nursing care, which includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, combined with the application of video therapy, effectively reduces the level of hallucinations, frequency of hallucinations, and duration of hallucinations in schizophrenia patients. Conclusion: It is recommended that nurses continue to implement nursing interventions for patients with sensory perception disorders: auditory hallucinations effectively to improve and optimize the level of hallucinations in patients.
