Abstract

Transportation plays an important role in people's lives because it can facilitate daily activities. The existence of transportation can connect one area with another. Roads are very important traffic facilities for community mobilization. One part of the road infrastructure is the intersection, which is the meeting point of each road section. This can make the performance of an intersection affect the performance of the road section as a whole. The purpose of this study is to determine traffic generation, road section performance, and analyze the volume of traffic flow in the next 5 years on the tlogomas road section. This is due to the high volume of vehicles on Jalan Raya Tlogomas which often causes congestion. From these problems, it is necessary to study the performance of Jalan Raya Tlogomas by calculating traffic volume, capacity and degree of saturation. The existing road at the research location has a road body width of 9 m, namely with 2 two-way lanes so that each lane is 4.5m and a 1.00-m road shoulder. In this study the data taken is the volume of movement generation in the Begawan apartment which amounted to 704-units and 868-units of vehicles, the volume performance of the tlogomas road section which shows that the peak hour on Friday, June 30, 2023 (Dinoyo -Batu) at 07:00-08:00 and (Batu-Dinoyo) at 13:00-14:00. Based on the results of the calculation obtained the total flow of 89359 smp / hour, the capacity value (C) 2599 skr / hour and the degree of saturation (DJ) 2.25 has exceeded the DJ value required in PKJI 2014 which is DJ≥1.00 and the level of service is F (Very Bad).

Abstract

The demand for construction materials, particularly for pavement construction, continues to rise, leading to a reduction in available material resources. To address this, an alternative approach has been developed by utilizing marble powder waste as a partial substitute for fine aggregate in rigid pavement construction. This study employs a quantitative, experimental research design aimed at determining the compressive and flexural strength of concrete when marble powder is used as a partial replacement. The compressive strength tests involved varying the marble powder content at 0%, 15%, 25%, and 35%, with assessments at both 7 and 28 days, targeting a planned concrete quality of fc' 21,7 MPa. The compressive strength values at 7 days for each variation are as follows: 0% (13,06 MPa), 15% (13,98 MPa), 25% (15,99 MPa), and 35% (14,10 MPa). At 28 days, the compressive strength results were 0% (22,00 MPa), 15% (23,79 MPa), 25% (16,97 MPa), and 35% (15,67 MPa). For the flexural strength tests, marble powder was substituted at levels of 0%, 15%, 25%, and 35% in concrete specimens measuring 12x50x120cm, with the load applied at 28 days. The maximum load recorded for each variation was 0% (4300 kg), 15% (3200 kg), 25% (4000 kg), and 35% (2500 kg). The average deflection observed was 0% (3,93mm), 15% (2,60mm), 25% (4,26mm), and 35% (2,37mm).

Abstract

Improving road transportation accessibility is essential for enhancing local social and economic activity in a country. One way to maintain the accessibility of the road network and ensure that users feel safe and comfortable is to maintain an adequate pavement surface layer throughout the duration of the network. Prolonged rain becomes one of the problems of paving the road surface. aims to achieve the following: (1) to determine the Marshall strength of the optimum asphalt content (OAC) value in the porous asphalt mixture; and (2) to determine the effect of the use of marble stone fraction waste on the characteristics of porous asphalt mixtures. Research method uses experimental research in the laboratory. Research will be conducted using the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) 2004 approach method. Research was conducted with Pen 60/70 asphalt content of 4%, 4.5%, 5%, 5.5%, and 6% to find the optimum asphalt content value, then it will be added with a ratio of 0%, 15%, 25%, and 35% marble fraction waste material to the total OAC weight. Results of the analysis of the Marshall characteristics of the porous asphalt mixture with a variation of 25% marble content have met the specifications on the grounds that all parameters have met the requirements of the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA 2004) with a VIM value at 25% content of 18.61%, for a VMA value of 50.60%, while for a stability value of 508 kg and for a flow value obtained of 2.57 mm while for an MQ value of 262.46 kg/mm.

Abstract

The increasing demand for efficient construction materials has driven the popularity of lightweight bricks in the last decade. On the other hand, ship repair activities generate sandblasting waste, amounting to 2.5–3 million tons per year, which contains heavy metals and corrosive residues, and is therefore categorized as B3 waste. This study aims to transform sandblasting waste into environmentally friendly partition walls that support earthquake and fire disaster mitigation by formulating lightweight bricks of the Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) type through the modification of foam agents and the substitution of fine aggregates. Initial studies, conducted through interviews at one of the shipyards, revealed an average monthly generation of sandblasting waste of 12,100 kg. This study combines laboratory experiments and a literature review to examine material properties, including gradation, specific gravity, water absorption, and metal content (XRF–TCLP), as well as to evaluate compressive strength, density, and potential applications in earthquake disaster mitigation. The characterization results indicate that the sandblasting waste meets the gradation requirements specified in SNI 03-2834-2000 and passes physical tests according to SNI 03-1970-2008, with heavy metal content (Ba, Zn, Cu) below the threshold set in PP No. 22 of 2021. Lightweight bricks are made with a composition ratio of 1:1 cement and sandblasting waste, and variations in the foam agent range from 5% to 12.5%. The best formula, according to SNI 8640-2018, is obtained at a foam agent content of 5%, resulting in a compressive strength of 7.28 MPa and a density of 1,283.33 kg/m³, which is lighter than concrete blocks and red bricks. From an earthquake mitigation perspective, it was found that lighter material weight contributed to reducing inertial forces and loads on the structure, thereby enhancing resistance to initial collapse and facilitating ease of dismantling during post-earthquake evacuation. These findings indicate that sandblasting waste has the potential to be processed into environmentally friendly alternative construction materials that not only meet technical standards but also contribute to earthquake risk mitigation strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the physical characteristics of the pedestrian overpass on Basuki Rachmat Street in Surabaya, as well as to assess its compliance with applicable national technical standards for pedestrian facilities. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach through direct field observations of various physical elements of the pedestrian overpass on Basuki Rachmat Street in Surabaya. The aspects observed include stairs, walkways, safety railings, roofs, lighting systems, and accessibility. The results of the study indicate that most of the physical components of the pedestrian overpass on Basuki Rachmat Street in Surabaya meet technical requirements, particularly regarding the width of the stairs, walkways, and strong, stable safety railings. The roof structure is also in good condition as it effectively protects users from rain and heat. However, several discrepancies were identified, such as stair inclines exceeding comfort limits, uneven lighting across the entire bridge area, and limited accessibility for people with disabilities. These conditions have the potential to reduce user comfort and safety. Overall, the physical characteristics of the pedestrian overpass on Basuki Rachmat Street in Surabaya can be categorized as being in good condition and suitable for use; however, improvements are needed regarding stair slope, lighting, and accessibility to better meet the design principles for safe, comfortable, and inclusive pedestrian facilities.
