Abstract

Eye health is a crucial in improving the quality of life, especially in the digital era. Best Vision Solution (BVS) Optik, a micro-enterprise located in Banjaran, Bandung Regency, aims to address this need through eye examination services and the sale of eyeglasses. However, BVS Optik faces internal challenges such as limited digital promotion, minimal capital, and a shortage of personnel. On the other hand, significant opportunities exist, including the trend of glasses as fashion accessories and the lack of digital marketing among competitors. This community engagement project aims to conduct a comprehensive strategic analysis of BVS Optik's internal and external conditions to formulate appropriate and sustainable business strategies. The analysis was carried out using SWOT, IFAS, EFAS, and strategic mapping tools such as the BCG Matrix, GE Matrix, and TOWS Matrix. The results indicate that BVS Optik operates in an industry with high market attractiveness, although its internal capabilities remain moderate. Based on these findings, several strategies are recommended, including optimizing digital promotion, enhancing product visual appeal on social media, offering service bundling packages, leveraging marketplace platforms, providing online eye consultations, and conducting regular eye check-up programs. These strategies are expected to enhance BVS Optik’s competitiveness and significantly expand its market reach.

Abstract

Bandung is one of Indonesia's leading tourist destinations, attracting a high volume of visitors and creating intense competition within the hospitality industry. Alongside this growth, high employee turnover has become a significant challenge for hotels in retaining competent personnel and maintaining service quality. This study aims to evaluate the conditions of work discipline, workload, and turnover intention, as well as to examine the effects of work discipline and workload on turnover intention among employees of Grand Hotel Preanger Bandung as an empirical representation of the hospitality industry in Bandung. A quantitative approach employing descriptive and explanatory methods was adopted. The study involved all 83 employees as respondents using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, partial (t) tests, simultaneous (F) tests, and the coefficient of determination. The findings reveal that work discipline is categorized as low, while workload and turnover intention are categorized as high. Work discipline has no significant effect on turnover intention, contributing only 0.4% to its variance. In contrast, workload has a positive and significant effect, explaining 16.6% of the variance in turnover intention. Simultaneously, work discipline and workload account for 15.4% of the variance in turnover intention, while the remaining 84.6% is explained by other factors beyond the scope of this study. These findings suggest that workload management is a more effective strategy for reducing turnover intention than improving work discipline alone.

Abstract

Employee engagement has become a strategic concern in human resource management, particularly among Generation Z employees who are expected to dominate the future workforce. However, maintaining high engagement remains challenging due to increasing job stress and suboptimal psychosocial work environment. This study examines the effects of the non physical work environment and job stress on employee engagement among Generation Z employees in Bandung, Indonesia. A Quantitative explanatory approach was employed using survey data collected from 100 Generation Z employees selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability testing, classical assumption test and multiple linear regression analysis to assess both partial and simultaneous effect among variables. The findings indicate that employee engagement was at a moderately high level, while the non-physical work environment was perceived as moderately favorable and job stress was relatively high. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the non-physical work environment had a positive and significant effect on employee engagement, whereas job stress had a negative and significant effect. The non-physical work environment explained 28.9% of the variance in employee engagement, job stress explained 17.6%, and both variables simultaneously accounted for 47.95% of the variance (R² = 0.4795, p < 0.001). These findings support the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) Theory, suggesting that employee engagement is shaped by the balance between job resources and job demands. The study concludes that supportive psychosocial workplace conditions and effective stress management are essential for enhancing employee engagement, employee retention and long term organizational performance among Generation Z employees.
