Abstract

In the last 30 years there have been increasing demand of agarwood. Unlimited hunting of agarwood causing it become threatened species. Aquilaria spp. is the main genus producing agarwood that considered as threathened species. Conserving Aquilaria spp. as germ plasm needs is essential against destruction. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have been used as inoculant to increase the growth of Aquilaria spp., but information about the existence of AMF in Aquilaria spp. rhizosphere has not been reported. This research was carried out with objective to identify AMF from Aquilaria spp. rhizosphere. Soil and root samples from rhizosphere of Aquilaria spp. taken from four location that is: Carita (A. malaccensis), Ciapus (A. filaria), Cifor (A. crasna & A. malaccensis), and Bantar Kemang (A. beccariana, A. crasna, & A. malaccensis). Roots staining was conducted with modified Phillips and Hayman procedure (1970). Soils sample was run dry wed and placed in pot culture with Pueraria javanica as the host plant. Spore was separated from pot culture using wet sieving and decanting method continued with centrifugation. The result showed the occurrences of AMF in Aquilaria spp. roots i.e. external hypha, internal hypha, coiled hypha, arbuscules, and vesicles. All AMF colony structure found in Aquilaria spp. roots show asosiation bettwen the plant and AMF. Four species of AMF were found i.e. Glomus sp.1, Glomus sp.2, Gigaspora albida, and Dentiscutata sp. Abstract

Abstract

Covid-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and is transmitted through droplets. In Covid-19 patients who are critical or have severe symptoms, hypercytokines are often found, which is characterized by an increase in the cytokine Interleukin-6 (IL-6). High levels of IL-6 cytokines can disrupt the immune system, including leukocytes, especially lymphocytes, which are the main system of the immune response. The state of continued inflammation and continuously stimulated lymphocytes will cause the lymphocytes to work too hard. This study aims to determine the relationship of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) with lymphocytes in Covid-19 positive patients. This study is a quantitative research with correlation analysis method using data collection technique by purposive sampling. Furthermore, to analyze, the authors used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and the Spearman correlation test. The results of the analysis showed a fairly significant correlation between levels of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and the number of lymphocytes in Covid-19 positive patients.

Abstract

Pregnant women with the third trimester of pregnancy (7-9 months or 29-40 weeks), most of them give birth normally, but 15% of cases are life-threatening complications, namely preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is characterized by increased proteinuria. Women during pregnancy are more at risk of suffering from urinary tract infections because of the physiological changes that occur in their bodies. As many as 20% of cases of urinary tract infection occur in pregnant women. Examination of urine protein and urine leukocyte sediment in pregnant women is very important as a support for the risk of preeclampsia and urinary tract infections. This study used descriptive analysis with a cross-sectional design, namely one-time observation. Data used by third trimester pregnant women. The research was conducted in January-July 2022 at the Anggrek Mas Hospital Clinical Laboratory. There are 20 research subjects. With the highest protein levels at high risk of preeclampsia were (+3) 1 pregnant woman and (+4) 3 pregnant women. Then the leukocytes of the urine sediment are above normal values≥5/Landang Besar, namely there are 12 pregnant women each. In the majority of third trimester pregnant women at Anggrek Mas Hospital, West Jakarta, all pregnant women who were observed, the results of urine protein levels were found to be abnormal and urine sediment leukocytes were found to be above normal values

Abstract

Covid-19 (Corona Virus disease 2019) is a new type of disease caused by a virus from the Corona Virus group, namely SARS-CoV-2. Covid-19 may cause respiratory system disorders, ranging from mild symptoms such as flu to lung infections, such as pneumonia. Laboratory diagnoses for Covid-19 disease generally include hematological (complete blood examinations), and molecular or a combination of serology and molecular. PCR examination that can be carried out using the Insulated Isothermal PCR and Reverse Transcription PCR methods. This research is descriptive observational research. Data were collected at Grha Kedoya Hospital, West Jakarta, North Kedoya. The result showed a sensitivity of iiPCR score 82,6%, which is relatively lower than gold-standard RT-PCR. Our research suggested that RT-PCR is still an effective and sensitive method for Covid-19 examination.
