Abstract

Selumit Pantai Sub-district in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan, is known as a “Drug Village” due to the widespread circulation and trade of narcotics. This community service initiative aimed to instill positive values and improve financial literacy among children at TPA Al-Ma’ruf as a preventive measure against drug abuse. A practical approach fostered emotional engagement between participants and educators, making learning more accessible and enjoyable. The activity was conducted face-to-face on April 29, 2025, at Al-Ma’ruf Mosque and involved 41 children aged 5–14. Evaluation results indicated an improved understanding of basic money management, along with high enthusiasm and active participation. The provision of savings rewards was a positive stimulus to cultivate saving and sharing habits. This program demonstrates that affective-based education combined with financial literacy can effectively shape positive behavior and prevent early exposure to drugs.

Abstract

Abstract

Da™wah is an obligation for followers of Islam, whose purpose is to spread the teachings of Islam and build an Islamic society. Da''wah, Tabligh, Taghyir, amar ma''ruf nahi munkar, and morals”even the Qur''an says that the best ummah is to do ''amar ma''ruf nahi munkar. Even the Qur''an lists the ethics of da''wah contained in Surah An-Nahal verse 125, which starts from bil-hikmah, mau''izho hasanah, and wajadilhu billati hiya ahsan. In delivering dawah, someone needs a pattern of da''wah in his delivery, including Ulama, and the Ulama referred to here are Ulama from among Sufis, where we know the first preachers who preached in Indonesia were mostly from among Sufi Ulama and had an influence on the entry of Islam into Indonesia by peaceful means. So researchers get some problems about how the pattern of da''wah in Barus which became the location of the first time this Sufi Ulama spread Islam in Indonesia, as we know, the pattern of da''wah of Sufi Ulama is the basic pillar of spreading Islam without violence, running peacefully. This research is focused on the historical study of the History of the Development of Da''wah in Sufi Ulema. Spreading Islam in Barus requires a historical approach.he method used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and library research, namely problem-solving procedures that are investigated by describing the state of the subject or object in the study, which can be people, institutions, society, and others who are currently based on facts that appear or as they are, and collecting data on a number of works of other figures and writers related to the topic of discussion. Da''wah is a definite part of the lives of religious people. In the teachings of Islam, it is an obligation imposed by the religion on its adherents, both those who have embraced it and those who have not. Thus, da''wah does not merely arise from individuals or groups, although at least there must be a group that does it. In delivering da''wah, the Prophet, on the one hand, faced very severe challenges but, on the other hand, found a positive response from various circles, especially weak people.

Abstract

This study examines the philosophical interaction between Ibn Sina and Aristotle within the framework of the theory of cross-cultural communication between Islam and Greece. By applying qualitative methods and text analysis, this study seeks to identify the epistemological foundations that underpin the thinking of the two philosophers, as well as explore the application of their ideas in the context of intercultural communication. Ibn Sina, known as Avicenna among Western thinkers, not only adopted but also enriched Aristotle's thought with an Islamic perspective, resulting in a distinctive synthesis between Greek philosophy and Islamic theology. This research emphasizes the importance of logic, ethics, and metaphysics in creating bridges of understanding between two different cultural traditions. Through in-depth analysis, this study shows how the concepts carried by the two philosophers can contribute to facing today's global communication challenges, including cultural pluralism and interreligious dialogue. Thus, this research focuses not only on the theoretical aspects, but also on the practical application of their thinking in the modern context. The findings of this study indicate that the philosophical dialogue between Ibn Sina and Aristotle contributed significantly to a broader epistemological understanding. In addition, the approach resulting from the interaction of their thoughts offers a deeper perspective in understanding the dynamics of cross-cultural communication. Thus, this study has the potential to enrich academic discourse on the relationship between philosophy and communication practice in an increasingly complex and diverse context.

Abstract

This research aims to deconstruct the theory of Uses and Gratifications in the context of the post-truth era, with an emphasis on a critical analysis of the misperception among social media users in meeting the needs of information. The post-truth era is characterized by the dominance of emotions and personal views that trump objective facts, which in turn affects the way individuals consume and process information. The conventional Uses and Gratifications theory views media users as active and rational individuals in choosing media to meet specific needs, such as entertainment, information, or social interaction. However, in the context of post-truth, this paradigm needs to be revisited. The study shows that social media users are often trapped in false consciousness due to social media algorithms and confirmation bias. The algorithm encourages the consumption of content that is in line with the user's personal beliefs, thus reinforcing the view without providing an opportunity for fact-verification. In addition, the phenomenon of echo chambers and filter bubbles further strengthens the isolation of information, which contributes to the formation of distorted reality. The approach used in this study is qualitative with critical analysis of relevant literature and case studies of social media users. The results of the analysis show that the information satisfaction felt by users is often illusory and does not reflect the fulfillment of real information needs. This false awareness creates the illusion of information fulfillment, even though the information consumed tends to be biased and incomplete. The conclusion of this study is that in the post-truth era, the theory of Uses and Gratifications needs to be reconstructed by considering the factors that affect false consciousness and information distortion. It is important for social media users to improve their media literacy and be critical of the sources of information they consume, in order to avoid the trap of false awareness and achieve more accurate and meaningful information fulfillment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of the groupthink phenomenon in the context of decision-making by cross-cultural teams in Indonesia. Groupthink refers to the psychological conditions that arise in highly bonded groups, in which the pressure to reach an agreement can hinder the logical assessment of alternatives. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with a focus on case studies in several multicultural organizations in Indonesia. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and analysis of relevant documents. The findings of this study show that cultural factors have a significant influence on the decision-making process. Values such as collectivism, hierarchy, and social harmony contribute to the occurrence of the groupthink phenomenon. In addition, cultural diversity within a team can serve as a driver or barrier in overcoming the negative impact caused by groupthink, depending on how those differences are managed in the context of the team. This study recommends several mitigation strategies to improve the quality of decision-making in cross-cultural teams in Indonesia. Among these strategies are raising awareness of the potential of groupthink, strengthening inclusive leadership, and encouraging open communication. By implementing these steps, it is hoped that the team can be more effective in managing group dynamics and produce better decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the urgency and implementation of critical thinking in modern Islamic preaching as a bridge between text and context. The research method used is library research by examining relevant scientific sources in the form of national and international journal articles, academic books, and empirical research results. Data analysis was carried out thematically through a content analysis approach and supported by bibliometric visualization using VOSviewer for 150 related articles. The results of the study show that critical thinking is the main pillar in developing adaptive contextual preaching in the digital era. Bibliometric visualization shows that critical thinking is the main node that is closely connected to the theme of digital preaching, religious moderation, and prevention of radicalism. The implementation of critical thinking in preaching includes evaluative abilities towards sources of teachings, contextual awareness of the audience, dialogical openness, and ethical reflection in responding to differences. The strategy for strengthening implementation includes reformulating the dai education curriculum, digital media literacy training, and developing interactive discussion forums based on scientific arguments. This study emphasizes that strengthening critical attitudes in da'wah is an epistemological need to produce moderate, solution-oriented da'wah messages that are relevant to the dynamics of the times.

Abstract

This research aims to answer the main question of how the role of Islamic Guidance and Counseling (BPI) is in handling cases of bullying experienced by students at the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN Sumatera Utara. This study is motivated by the lack of Islamic value-based approaches in addressing psychological violence in higher education settings. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The informants consisted of four people: one supervising lecturer and three students who had previously been victims of bullying and participated in BPI services. The data was analyzed using a thematic approach. The results show that the forms of bullying experienced include verbal, relational, and institutional, with psychological impacts such as stress, anxiety, and social withdrawal. BPI contributes to recovery through a spiritual approach based on the values of patience, trust in God, and self-purification, which is realized through mentoring, religious discussions, and character development. Although not yet supported by a strong institutional system, this service is considered practically beneficial in building students' mental resilience. The limitations of this study lie in the limited number of informants and the narrow scope of the study, so further research with a broader scope and stronger methodological design is recommended to strengthen the validity of the findings.
