Abstract

In an era of ever-evolving streaming revolution, the broadcasting industry is facing major transformation to adapt and survive. Broadcasters need to adopt new strategies in business models and monetization, such as combining subscriptions, individual purchases, data-driven advertising, as well as partnerships with large streaming platforms through a hybrid approach. Investing in producing unique and engaging original content is also critical to differentiate yourself from competitors and cater to diverse audience preferences by exploring new genres and formats. In terms of technological infrastructure, increasing network capacity, servers and hardware are needed to support high-quality streaming, as well as paying attention to security and redundancy to ensure continuity of operations. Moreover, data measurement and analytics are key by developing new, relevant metrics to measure content performance, understand consumer behavior and preferences, and optimize monetization strategies. Leveraging data also allows for better personalization of content according to viewers' individual interests. Abstract

The linguistic diversity in Bintuni Bay, West Papua, reflects the cultural richness of its people. This study identified seven languages spoken by various ethnic communities in the region. Muna is the most widely spoken language and has a "Safe" status, while languages such as Biak, Serui, Yapen, Numfor, and Moskona are experiencing a decline in the number of speakers, especially among the younger generation, and are facing the threat of extinction. Local languages in Bintuni Bay play an important role in maintaining cultural identity, as a symbol of cultural strength, and a link with ancestors. Through in-depth interviews with local communities, it was found that local languages not only function as a means of communication, but also as a means to convey cultural values and traditions in traditional ceremonies. However, a number of factors influence the use of local languages, including the influence of Indonesian language education, mass media, and globalization which introduces Indonesian and foreign languages as dominant languages in everyday life. Socio-economic changes, as well as migration and community movement, have also accelerated language shifts. This study emphasizes the importance of preserving local languages to maintain the continuity of the culture and identity of the Bintuni Bay community. The recommendations proposed include strengthening local language preservation policies, increasing the role of the younger generation in learning and using local languages, and raising public awareness of the importance of language as a cultural heritage that must be preserved.

Abstract

The Korean Wave or Hallyu phenomenon has had a significant influence on global popular culture, including in Indonesia. One form of this influence is seen in the production of fanfiction on digital platforms such as Wattpad. This study aims to analyze the influence of Korean culture on the narrative structure and intertextuality practices in Indonesian-language fanfiction with a Korean theme. The approach used is qualitative-descriptive analytical with Tzvetan Todorov's narrative theory and the concept of intertextuality as the basis for analysis. The objects of the study consisted of five popular fanfictions on Wattpad that carried the themes of K-pop and K-drama. The results of the analysis show that the narrative structure of the five fanfictions follows the classic pattern of Korean drama, which consists of the stages of equilibrium, disturbance, conflict, resolution, and achieving a new balance. Elements of intertextuality emerge through the use of character names, setting, emotional conflict, and language styles that resemble Korean drama dialogues. Indonesian fanfiction writers not only imitate, but also creatively adapt elements of Korean culture, combining them with local social and cultural contexts. From the readers' perspective, there is high enthusiasm for narratives that are full of Korean elements, indicating a horizon of hope formed from the consumption of global popular culture. In conclusion, Korean-themed fanfiction on Wattpad becomes a dialogical space between global culture and local expression, while also reflecting forms of creative literacy and cultural hybridization in the digital era.

Abstract

Transgender and gender non-binary (TGD) youth face complex psychosocial challenges, including increased risk of mental health disorders due to gender identity incongruence with biological characteristics. One approach used to support the gender affirmation process is through medical interventions in the form of hormone therapy and other medical procedures. This article aims to review the scientific evidence related to the benefits and risks of medical interventions in TGD youth, with a focus on short-term and long-term impacts on mental health, physical health, and quality of life. The method used is a systematic literature review with a critical analysis of various scientific publications from international journals indexed by Scopus and PubMed over the past ten years. The results of the review indicate that medical interventions, such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy, have the potential to provide significant benefits in reducing gender dysphoria and improving mental health in the short term. However, there is limited evidence regarding safety and long-term effects, including risks to bone mineral density, cognitive function, and potential fertility disorders. In addition, there is variation in policies between countries in implementing these medical interventions, reflecting differences in ethical, legal, and cultural perspectives. The conclusion of this article emphasizes the need for a holistic, evidence-based approach that takes into account psychosocial aspects and individual human rights in providing health services to TGD adolescents. Longitudinal studies with stronger designs are urgently needed to understand the long-term impact of medical interventions and support appropriate clinical decision-making. These findings are expected to be a reference for health practitioners, policy makers, and the community in understanding health care issues for transgender and gender non-binary adolescents.

Abstract

Audio accessibility in broadcasting is becoming increasingly important as technology advances and the need for inclusive services for people with disabilities increases. This study aims to analyze the implementation and key challenges in the adoption of four major audio accessibility technologies, namely Object-Based Audio (MPEG-H), AI-based dialogue enhancement (Dialog+), Auracast™ public broadcasting, and Smart TV interfaces with Text-to-Speech (TTS). The method used is secondary data analysis from various literature reports and international institutions, focusing on five countries: Germany, Japan, the United States, Indonesia, and Thailand. The results show that developed countries have implemented all four technologies comprehensively, while developing countries still face significant adoption gaps. The main barriers identified include device compatibility, high device prices, lack of user education, unprepared infrastructure, and limited local regulations. The findings emphasize that the successful implementation of audio accessibility technologies depends not only on technical readiness, but also on policy support, public-private partnerships, and public awareness. The comprehensive integration of MPEG-H, Dialog+, Auracast™, and TTS forms an inclusive broadcast ecosystem that can have a real impact on vulnerable groups. The study recommends a holistic approach to accelerate adoption and bridge the accessibility gap across countries.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between ease of digital access and increasing online gambling participation among Indonesian university students. Through a quantitative descriptive approach involving 420 respondents from various universities, the research examines how technological advancement has influenced gambling behavior among students and its multidimensional consequences. The findings reveal a significant correlation between digital accessibility and gambling participation, with 43.3% of respondents having engaged in online gambling and 25.9% remaining active gamblers. Students with easy digital access were nearly three times more likely to gamble online compared to those with limited access. Demographic analysis showed higher participation rates among male students and those residing in urban areas with superior digital infrastructure. The research identified substantial negative impacts on participants, including psychological effects (76.4% experiencing stress and anxiety) and academic consequences (56.6% reporting decreased concentration). Despite 62% of students claiming moderate digital literacy, only 28% demonstrated true understanding of digital risks, revealing a critical gap between technical proficiency and risk awareness. The majority of gambling-involved students (67.2%) reported first encountering gambling through social media platforms, highlighting the influential role of digital marketing in normalizing gambling behavior. This study underscores the need for comprehensive interventions including enhanced digital literacy education, campus-based support services, strengthened regulatory frameworks, and innovative prevention campaigns targeting digital-native students. The research contributes to understanding how rapidly evolving digital ecosystems create unprecedented challenges in academic environments and offers strategic recommendations for institutional and governmental responses to protect student welfare and academic success.

Abstract

Climate change is a global challenge affecting the agricultural sector, particularly in agrarian areas such as Panimbang Regency, Banten. This study aims to identify and analyze climate change adaptation strategies based on local knowledge or ethnoscience implemented by farming communities. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with an ethnographic orientation, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, focus group discussions, and visual documentation. The results revealed five key adaptation strategies: observing natural signs, adjusting the planting calendar based on phenology, water management with traditional irrigation systems, crop diversification, and cultural and ritual practices. These strategies have been shown to increase community resilience to climate variability by reducing the risk of crop failure and maintaining ecological balance. The high adoption rate of crop diversification and observing natural signs emphasizes the relevance of local knowledge amidst the dominance of technocratic approaches. This study emphasizes the importance of recognizing, preserving, and integrating ethnoscience knowledge into climate adaptation policies to be more inclusive and contextual. Thus, local wisdom serves not only as a cultural heritage but also as a dynamic framework that supports food security, environmental sustainability, and the well-being of farming communities in the era of climate change.

Abstract

The issue of salary increases for members of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Indonesia has sparked widespread public debate because it is considered inconsistent with the socio-economic conditions of the community. The policy is perceived as sensitive, particularly regarding the principles of social justice, government accountability, and political legitimacy. In the digital era, social media such as YouTube has become an important space for the public to express opinions openly. This study aims to map public opinion regarding the DPR salary increase issue through sentiment analysis of YouTube comments using a Natural Language Processing (NLP) approach. The IndoBERTa model was used to classify public sentiment into positive, negative, and neutral categories, and n-gram analysis was used to capture dominant linguistic patterns. The results showed that negative sentiment dominated with 5,463 comments, far exceeding neutral (1,391 comments) and positive (812 comments). The n-gram analysis revealed that frequently appearing words and phrases related to "people," "DPR," "salary," as well as emotional expressions such as "disband the DPR" and "dancing on the people's suffering." These findings indicate that the DPR salary issue triggered a strong, often sarcastic public response and demonstrated a crisis of trust in the legislative institution. The lack of positive sentiment confirms that this policy has almost no public support.
