Abstract

Nowadays, the spread of news has become increasingly easy with the use of gadgets. However, this also increases the risk of misinformation whether disinformation, which is deliberately misleading, or misinformation, which is spread unintentionally. Kampung Sawah, a Betawi community, is unique for having three places of worship located close to each other. The residents, who follow Islam, Christianity, and Catholicism, have lived in harmony since before Indonesia’s independence. This unity has been maintained over generations due to shared traditions, culture, and language, despite religious differences. Amid the rise of hoaxes on social media, residents of Kampung Sawah including teachers, students, and parents of elementary school students in Jatimurni need to develop the ability to distinguish facts from misinformation and act wisely in preventing its spread. To support this, a training session was conducted, accompanied by educational posters, focusing on identifying hoaxes that could affect the values of harmony and tolerance. These posters play a crucial role in improving digital literacy, helping the community recognize factual information, classify misinformation, and prevent its dissemination. Furthermore, they aim to foster a more thoughtful approach in receiving, managing, and sharing information, ensuring that people are not easily influenced by fake news on social media.

Abstract

Social media is a collection of digital applications that enable users to interact online by sharing information in the form of photos, videos, news, and short stories. This convenience has made the dissemination of information rapid and widespread. However, alongside these advantages come challenges, particularly the use of impolite language that can disrupt communication, both in process and content. In such a context, it is essential to foster awareness of polite language use in social media, especially within communities that embrace diversity. Kampung Sawah, a Betawi community located in Jatimurni Subdistrict, offers a unique example of harmony, where three houses of worship mosque, church, and chapel stand side by side. Residents of different faiths Islam, Christianity, and Catholicism have long maintained familial ties dating back to before Indonesia's independence. This harmony is sustained through shared customs, culture, and language. Therefore, training in polite message writing for social media targeted at residents, teachers, students, and parents of SD (elementary school) in Kampung Sawah is of great significance. The training focused on writing messages that promote tolerance and unity, as well as identifying polite and impolite language forms. The results show an improvement in the ability to write respectfully using strategies such as direct speech, positive and negative politeness, and off-record strategies. With this understanding, community members are better equipped to avoid profanity, curses, and expressions that degrade others, while fostering wisdom and setting a positive example in their digital communication practices.

Abstract

Trichoderma sp. is one of the biological control agents that can be used to manage soil-borne pathogens, including Fusarium sp. This study aimed to determine the effect of Trichoderma sp. on the growth, yield, and effectiveness in controlling fusarium wilt in Brazilian spinach (Alternanthera sissoo). The experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and six replications. The study was conducted in the Paranet Screen House, Sidobunder Village, Puring Subdistrict, Kebumen Regency. The treatments consisted of Trichoderma sp. doses of 0 g/plant (control), 10 g/plant, 20 g/plant, and 30 g/plant. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by an Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test at the 0.05 significance level. The results indicated no occurrence of fusarium wilt in plants treated with any dose of Trichoderma sp. or in the control treatment. This was presumed to be due to environmental conditions that were unfavorable for the growth of Fusarium sp. A dose of 10 g/plant of Trichoderma sp. resulted in optimal growth and yield for Brazilian spinach (Alternanthera sissoo).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of innovative learning strategies in improving the literacy skills of first-grade elementary school students in the subject of Indonesian language. Early literacy serves as a crucial foundation for students’ academic development; however, many lower-grade students have not yet reached the minimum standards in reading and writing. To address this challenge, innovative learning strategies such as shared reading, storytelling, the use of visual and digital media, as well as contextual and simple project-based approaches were employed. This research utilized a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method over two cycles, involving 20 first-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literacy skill assessments. The findings showed a significant improvement in students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities. The learning process became more enjoyable, participatory, and suited to the cognitive developmental stage of young children. In addition, students' motivation and confidence in using language also increased. The teacher’s role as a facilitator and instructional designer was essential in ensuring the success of these strategies. Abstract

This article examines the dynamics of the body horror genre in three recent Hollywood films: The Substance (2024), Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022), and It’s What’s Inside (2024). Utilizing Nick Lacey’s "repertoire of elements" model, the study dissects how body horror functions as a site of cultural and ideological discourse, encompassing themes of identity, beauty, technology, and social criticism. Through detailed narrative, character, iconographic, setting, and stylistic analysis, the research demonstrates how body horror, far from being mere spectacle, operates as a potent metaphor for anxieties surrounding the human condition in contemporary society. The findings reveal that these films push the boundaries of horror to engage in a critique of body politics, gender norms, performative culture, and capitalist commodification.
