Abstract

Banana (Musa paradisiaca) is one of the important horticultural commodities. This study aims to measure the physical and geometrical parameters of three different bananas (Muli, Ambon, and Kepok) and to develop prediction equations using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model. In this study the backpropagation ANN model with supervised learning method was used. The ANN model had one output node, two hidden layers, and network architecture of 8 inputs, namely fruit weight and volume, projected area and roundness of the fruit, cross section, peel color, and geometric mean fruit cross section diameter. The data for building the model and testing the model were respectively 70% and 30% of the 150 data number in total. The results showed that the best ANN model structure for estimating Muli, Ambon and Kepok bananas was purelin-logsig-logsig with an RMSE value of 0.0077 and an R2 of 0.9999. This shows that the ANN model is highly robust to predict the banana types. Using the built model, the accuracy of the prediction results is 100%.  Keywords:  Artificial Neural Network,  Banana fruits,  Geometry attribute.

Abstract

A salted egg maker has been developed by the Agricultural Engineering Department. The tool is the third generation, with a glass container for the salt solution. This ensures the container is leak-proof and corrosion-resistant, as previous salted egg makers were made of metal. This training aims to teach the public how to use the tool. The tool is made of glass, making it susceptible to breakage or cracking. This community service program involves lectures and demonstrations. The activity was conducted in the Integrated Field Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture. Participants were invited to the Integrated Field Laboratory. The materials provided included: 1. Introducing the modified tool to the participants, 2. Teaching participants how to use the modified tool, and 3. Teaching them how to store it properly. It is hoped that those who participate in this training will be able to apply and disseminate the knowledge gained after the training.

Abstract

Abstract — Indonesian cocoa production is significantly increasing, but the resulting quality is generally low and varied, especially those produced by smallholders. The low quality because of weak implementation of a cocoa processing technology, in particular the fermentation and drying of cocoa. Cocoa farmers in the village of Sungai Langka, Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran District, Lampung Province generally cultivate cocoa without fermentation process, they find it more practical and easier to peel their crops without fermentation. Cocoa beans stripping results directly in the sun on a concrete floor or paved with plastic tarps for a day or half a day later sold to traders. In fact, there are farmers who peeling cocoa in the morning and during the day has been sold to collectors. Likewise in traders, cocoa which has been purchased with a degree of dryness varies directly collected and dried again on a drying floor or plastic sheeting. When demand is high or the rainy season, new traders use a dryer. One of the traders in the village of Sungai Langka, Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran District is Mr. Arkan, where the technology used dryer Mr. Arkan is still very simple. Dryer used is the type of tub with a capacity of about 100 kg of cocoa beans per process with firewood fuel. The drying process directly, smoke and hot combustion products mixed into one and the cocoa beans are dried so that the cocoa beans drying results smelled of smoke. Both of the above conditions (absence of fermentation and drying process unfavorable) results in a lower quality of cocoa which is in turn the price is relatively low. Therefore, there needs to be a cocoa processing technology applications at the farm level fermentation and drying technologies, in particular at the level of the collector to be able to produce high quality cocoa in a sustainable manner. Therefore Proposer team intends to apply the method of fermentation of good and apply the hybrid type dryers on farmer groups and traders of cocoa in Village of Sungai Langka, Gedong Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran District. Drier hybrid that will be applied to biomass-fired, gas or electricity in addition to its main source of sunlight, so the cocoa drying with a dryer hybrid type can be done throughout the season and the quality is good. Abstract

Cassava have high potency so could increase diversification product from cassava. One of the products is cassava rice (imitation rice). Cassava rice industry have problem about the technology. Produce process still apply conventional technology although cassava rice has been commercial product. Aggregation process is important because influent quality and performance of cassava rice. This program are (1) to applied cassava rice aggregator machine to produce cassava rise, (2) give knowledge about food processing, and (3) to applied packaging. The program was conducted very well, aggregator was applied and accepted partner. The aggregator could operate very well and appropriate with requirement industry partner. After this program, partner knowledge increase 45.2%. Partner hope this program could be continued with applied food processing technology from University of Lampung.

Abstract

Salah satu tujuan Laboratorium Lapang Terpadu adalah menjadi pusat pengenalan dini pertanian secara integal melalui program early agroeducation dan agroturism. Program ini menjadi salah satu pembelajaran pertanian bagi anak-anak sejak dini. Program pengabdian ini diikuti oleh anak-anak SD Insantama Bandar Lampung Kelas I. Anak-anak dikenalkan dan diajari cara mengolah tanah, menanam, menyiangi rumput, memupuk, dan memanen tanaman yang mereka tanam. Anak-anak juga diajak berkeliling Lab. Lapang Terpadu untuk mengenal tanaman-tanaman yang ada di Lab. Lapang Terpadu. Kegiatan ini berjalan dengan baik dan mampu memperkenalkan pertanian secara dini kepada anak-anak serta dapat menumbuhkan kecintaan anak terhadap bidang pertanian tanpa mengganggu pelayanan Lab. Lapang Terpadu terhadap pelaksanaan praktikum dan penelitian mahasiswa dan dosen. Anak-anak mengikuti program ini dengan senang dan interaktif, walaupun kegiatan yang dilakukan cukup melelahkan dan berkutat dengan lumpur. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa fungsi kegiatan pengabdian ini sebagai aktivitas rekreatif bagi anak-anak juga didapatkan sehingga program early agroeducation dan agroturism dapat tercapai dengan baik.

Abstract

Kelompok Tani Panca Karya di Desa Sinar Sari Kecamatan Kalirejo telah lama memanfaatkan pupuk organik untuk memupuk sawah dan ladang mereka, bahkan menurut penuturan salah satu anggota kelompok tani bahwa secara turun-temurun mereka memanfaatkan pupuk kandang (kotoran hewan) dan pupuk kompos (seresah dan sisa-sisa tanaman pertanian) untuk menyuburkan tanah pertanian. Kelompok Tani Panca Karya telah berkomitmen untuk memproduksi dan mengembangkan pupuk organik padatan menjadi Pupuk Organik Granul (POG). Permasalahan utama yang mereka dihadapi adalah cara membuat POG yaitu proses pembuatan butiran, selama ini butiran dibuat dengan menggunakan nampan dengan cara menginteri, dimana kapasitasnya sangat terbatas dan ukurannya tidak seragam. Sementara proses pembuatan butiran dapat menggunakan granulator, salah satunya adalah granulator yang telah dihasilkan oleh Jurusan Teknik Pertanian Universitas Lampung. Kapasitas mesin granulator ini sekitar 100 kg/jam, butiran yang dihasilkan berbentuk bulat dan seragam. Oleh karena itu pada pengabdian ini diaplikasikan mesin pembuat butiran (granulator) tersebut. Pelaksanaan pengabdian pada Kelompok Tani Panca Karya berjalan dengan baik. Mesin granulator POG dapat diaplikasikan pada kelompok tani (mitra) dengan baik dan pengetahuan mitra secara keseluruhan meningkat sekitar 65% yaitu dari 21,67% menjadi 86,67%. Kegiatan pengabdian serupa sangat diharapkan oleh mitra, mereka menginginkan adanya introduksi teknologi yang dihasilkan oleh Perguruan Tinggi, secara khusus mitra menginginkan introduksi peletting benih dan alsintan kedelai.

Abstract

Ikan rucah adalah ikan-ikan kecil yang ikut tertangkap nelayan selain ikan konsumsi. Ikan rucah memiliki potensi sebagai sumber protein hewani pakan ternak dan ikan. Ikan rucah selama ini belum termanfaatkan secara optimal, oleh karena itu Tim Pengabdian melakukan kegiatan penerapan mesin pembuat tepung ikan rucah. Tepung ikan rucah diharapkan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pembuatan pakan teknak dan ikan tawar; sehingga ikan rucah dimanfaatkan secara optimal dan nilai ekonominya dapat meningkat. Metode pengabdian ini adalah dengan menerapkan mesin pembuat tepung ikan hasil rancang bangun Jurusan Ilmu Keteknikan Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Lampung. Pengabdian ini juga menyampaikan wawasan dan pengetahuan tentang aspek-aspek dasar pengoperasian mesin penepung, perawatan dan pemanfaatan tepung ikan. Kegiatan penerapan mesin penepung berlajan dengan baik, proses pembuatan tepung ikan rucah dapat dilakukan dengan lebih mudah dan kapasitasnya mencapai 100-300 kg/hari. Mitra pengabdian mampu menyerap pengetahuan dan penjelasan yang disampaikan oleh Tim pengabdian sehingga mereka mampu mengoperasikan mesin penepung, melakukan perawatan dan mampu menangani tepung yang dihasilkan. Keberlanjutan program ini diharapkan mampu menghasilkan produk-produk turunan dari tepung ikan rucah sehingga dapat meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat nelayan.
