Abstract

In 2021 the total amount of waste from various types of waste in Indonesia alone will reach 68,5 milion tons. Based on these data, as much as 17 percent, or around 11,6 milion tons, was contributed by jenna R.Jambeck from the University of Geogia in 2010, there were 275 tons of plastic waste produced worlwide. Around 4,8-12,7 milion tons of them are waste and pollute the sea. Indonesia itself has a coastal population of 187,2 ,milion which annually produces plastic waste. Around 0,48-1,29 milion tonnes of plastic waste is thought to have polluted the oceans. To overcome this, proper management of plastic waste is needed, one of which is by making paving blocks made from plastic waste. The study aims to determine the characteristics of thr various composition paving blocks according to the Dquality standard, which is used for garden pavements and other uses. In this study, aratio of 1:1:1 was used for plastic, sand, and oil. Then coconut shells were added to the treatment P1 as much as 3%, P2 as much as 6%, P3 as much as 9%, and P4 as much as 12% of the paving block volume paving block quality standardD has requirements, namely the maximum value obtained from the results of the compressive strength test is 10 Mpa and water absorption is 10%. From the result of the research that i did, it was found that the variations in the P treatment were closestto the quality standard D, with a compressive strength test value of 5,84 Mpa. Keywords : Coconut Shells, Paving Blocks, PET, Plastic, Waste.

Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao) is one of the plantation commodities in Indonesia that has an important role for the national economy to increase the country's foreign exchange. The process of cocoa drying will result in a dried product changes color, texture, and scent. The purpose of this study was to analyze the efficiency of drying cocoa using a hybrid dryer house with three treatments namely, drying using solar energy drying, drying using solar energy drying and gas energy (hybrid) and conventional drying. The results showed that drying cocoa in a drying house using solar energy takes 270 hours or 12 days, drying using a drying house using solar energy and gas (hybrid) takes 222 hours (9 days) and drying using a winch (conventional) takes 240 hours (11 days). Keywords: Cocoa, Drying, Hybrid Dryer House.

Abstract

The waste problem in Bandar Lampung is becoming increasingly critical as the volume of domestic waste reaches 1,283 tons per day. Ineffective management can lead to negative impacts on public health and the environment, such as the spread of diseases and pollution. This study aims to design and test a household-scale incinerator that is effective, efficient, safe, and low in pollution as an alternative solution for waste management. The designed incinerator is capable of burning 30 kg of waste in 180 minutes, using a fuel mixture of used oil and gasoline amounting to 130 ml. Test results show that the thermal efficiency of the incinerator ranges from 70-75%, with a charcoal yield of 14.42% and an ash yield of 11.53%. The overall efficiency reaches 77.05%, indicating that this device can optimally utilize the energy produced from combustion. This research demonstrates that a household-scale incinerator can be an effective solution for reducing waste volume and minimizing negative impacts on the environment. Recommendations for future research include the development of the incinerator design, evaluation of the temperature control system, and analysis of emissions generated from various types and compositions of waste. Thus, this study makes an important contribution to more environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management in Indonesia. Keywords: Combustion, Development, Design, Incinerator, Waste, Used Oil, Yield.

Abstract

.  Palm oil has an important role to play in improving the country's foreign exchange.  The largest selling point in palm oil is palm kernel oil (PKO), this palm kernel oil processing process involves a mixture of kernels and shells that will later be separated.  This research aims to design the build and produce a prototype kernel separator from its shell by using a saline solution to minimize excess costs and able to separate the kernel and shell >80%.  Methods carried out in this study include designing, manufacturing and testing.  After that, prototype kernel separator with palm shell using salt solution with tool dimensions on container length 53 cm, width 40 cm, height 42 cm, water receiver body length 22 cm, width 16 cm, height 28.  The kernel separator with palm shell using this saline solution is able to separate the kernel and shell mixture by 82%. Keywords: Design, Kernel,Palm Oil, Shell, Separation.

Abstract

The main sector in Indonesia is fisheries, particularly in the industry and export of high-value seafood products. Indonesia's fisheries potential is significant and can serve as a funding source for development with proper management. Effective and efficient drum-type fish smoking machines are needed for post-harvest processing to improve the smoking process compared to traditional methods. Economic analysis is conducted to understand the performance of these smoking machines and provide beneficial information to the general public. This study aims to evaluate the performance of drum-type fish smoking machines to provide economic feasibility information to the public. Data collected are then analyzed to assess the performance and economic feasibility of the smoking machines. Based on the analysis, operating the drum-type fish smoking machine can produce 4 kg of smoked catfish using 2.6 kg of charcoal and 3.43 kg of coconut husks for each smoking session. Over 14 working days per month, Net Present Value (NPV) is Rp. 59.215.651/year, Benefit-Cost (B/C) ratio is 1,553. The sensitivity analysis shows no significant changes in the economic feasibility of the smoking machine with varying working days. Keywords: Break Even Point (BEP), B/C Ratio, Drum type of smoke fish, Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Net Present Value (NPV).

Abstract

Water is a natural resource that is needed for the necessities of life for many people, even by all living things on earth. Therefore, water resources must be protected so that they can still be used properly by humans and other living things. In human life always need water, so research is carried out. Modification of the design of the condensation device for the greenhouse model to purify seawater needs to be developed to obtain fresh water. The purpose of this study is to convert seawater using solar energy from the sun using the principle of the greenhouse effect. This research uses the method of designing, assembling, and testing the performance of the tool. The test results of this tool have been able to evaporate sea water in one day ranging from 708 ml - 924 ml, while the water that can be harvested in one day ranges from 190 ml - 300 ml. The energy efficiency obtained in this tool ranges from 7.92% - 9.31%, while the efficiency of the evaporation results from this tool is obtained from a value ranging from 26.98% - 32.46%. This tool has been able to change seawater into fresh water using the principle of the greenhouse effect but is still not able to work optimally. Keywords: Sea water, Fresh water, Greenhouse effect.
