Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of humanistic learning to address the challenges of modern education through a literature review approach. Humanistic learning emphasizes the holistic development of students' potential, including cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, and places students at the center of the learning process. Amidst globalization, the development of digital technology, the demand for modern-day skills, and the increasing complexity of socio-cultural issues, a humanistic approach is considered relevant for maintaining the human dimension in education. This study analyzes various scientific literature discussing the concept of humanism, humanistic learning models, and their implementation in various modern educational contexts. The results indicate that humanistic learning can enhance students' intrinsic motivation, creativity, emotional engagement, and learning independence. Furthermore, this approach can counterbalance the tendency toward dehumanization in technology-based education. However, the study also identified various challenges, such as limited teacher competency, school cultural resistance, and the suboptimal integration of curricula that support learner-centered learning. The study concludes that the application of humanistic learning remains relevant and needs to be strengthened through teacher training, the provision of supportive learning environments, and educational policies that emphasize human values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of the role of parents and the community as strategic partners in accelerating the quality of education based on local wisdom at SMAN 10 Pangkep. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving principals, teachers, parents, community leaders, and students. Data analysis is carried out interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that there is a shift in the role of parents and society from passive involvement to active and collaborative participation in supporting the educational process. Parents are involved in learning assistance, character strengthening, and participation in school programs based on local wisdom. The community plays a role as a source of contextual learning through the involvement of traditional and religious leaders in educational activities. Strategic partnerships built through participatory approaches, open communication, and the integration of local cultural values have been proven to contribute to improving the quality of education. Although still faced with obstacles such as limited parental time and unstructured partnership systems, strong local social and cultural capital is the main supporting factor in maintaining the sustainability of collaboration. This study concludes that the transformation of the role of parents and society based on local wisdom is an important foundation in the development of contextual, inclusive, and sustainable education.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, the influx of foreign cultures and rapid modernization present significant challenges to the preservation of local values as part of national identity. Character education based on local wisdom serves as an essential strategy to maintain moral integrity and cultural rootedness among younger generations. This article reviews recent news reports on the role of local wisdom amid globalization and analyzes how values such as mutual cooperation, deliberation, and responsibility can be integrated into character education systems. Through literature analysis and case studies, the findings reveal that although awareness of local wisdom remains strong, its implementation in schools and communities requires synergy between teachers, educational institutions, cultural communities, and the government. The article also highlights spelling and linguistic issues found in public communication about local wisdom, reflecting the need for greater precision in narrating cultural topics.

Abstract

Islam Nusantara is a model of thought, understanding and practice of Islamic teachings packaged through considerations of culture or traditions that developed in the Southeast Asian region (but this study is limited to Indonesia), thus reflecting a methodological nuanced Islamic identity. When this identity was disseminated among Muslims, especially its thinkers, it was responded with controversial responses: some rejected the Islamic Nusantara identity because there was only one Islam, namely Islam taught by the Prophet. On the other hand, many Islamic thinkers who accept Islamic identity cannot be separated from that, Islam Nusantara is a part of acculturation as a carrier of Islamic teachings through the acculturation of existing cultures so that Islam Nusantara is present, none other than to broadcast the Islamic religion through peace between culture and religion.

Abstract

Unethical practices in traditional trade indicate weak internalization of values such as honesty, trust, and transparency. In contrast, the Banjarese community’s local wisdom of kuranglabih, practiced in the Lok Baintan floating market, reflects ethical and fair trading grounded in socio-cultural values. This study aims to analyze the internalization of kuranglabih values in trading practices and its role as a learning resource in sociology education for strengthening community character. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed through thematic techniques. The findings show that the floating market serves as a socio-cultural learning space where values of honesty, fairness, balance, and social harmony are internalized through daily interactions. These practices not only shape traders’ behavior but also function as contextual learning resources in sociology education. Furthermore, kuranglabih has become a guiding life principle that fosters social cohesion and contributes to character development within both community and educational settings. This study highlights the importance of integrating local wisdom into sociology learning to reinforce character education in contemporary society.

Abstract

Although inclusive education is increasingly recognized as a rights-based approach to educational equity, the presence of students with disabilities in mainstream classrooms does not by itself guarantee social inclusion. Peer acceptance, everyday interaction, and the capacity of schools to cultivate supportive relationships are central to students’ experiences of belonging. This study examines how an inclusive education program was implemented and how it shaped social acceptance of students with disabilities at SD Inpres Mallengkeri 2 Makassar, Indonesia. A qualitative case-study design was used. Data were generated through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving the principal, classroom teachers, special education support teachers, students without disabilities, students with disabilities, and parents. Data were analyzed iteratively through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source and method triangulation and member checking used to strengthen credibility. The findings indicate that inclusive practices were associated with more frequent peer interaction, cooperation, and expressions of empathy toward students with disabilities. Teachers and special education support teachers functioned not only as instructional actors but also as social mediators who modelled acceptance, managed interpersonal tensions, and facilitated collaborative participation. At the same time, social acceptance was uneven, particularly for students experiencing communication or behavioural difficulties. Limited specialist support, insufficient teacher preparation, adaptive-resource constraints, and disability-related stereotypes beyond the school remained important barriers. The study suggests that meaningful inclusion depends not only on placement and access but also on the quality of relational processes within the school. The findings contribute context-sensitive evidence on the social dimension of inclusive education in an Indonesian primary-school setting.
