Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the concept of Shari’a contemplation in Sufism. It will show the importance of the synergy between Shari’a and Haqiqa dimensions in Sufism. This article is a literature-based study in which the data were collected from various literature, documentation, and other related sources. This study revealed that the concept of Shari’a contemplation in Sufism is a method of spiritual journey wherein someone practicing amaliah, teachings, and Sufistic life does not leave the commands of the Shari’a. The aspect of the Shari’a must be mature and still preserved with his intense closeness to Allah SWT. Contemplation of Shari›a as one of the spiritual practices emphasizes the importance of meditation and emptying the mind from everything except Allah SWT. Thus, a Salik is still obliged to carry out the Shari›a responsibilities and other obligations as a servant of Allah. In other words, contemplation is not limited to meditation physically but also inwardly, in the form of emptying everything except Allah and transforming ethical and aesthetic values into the practice of contemplation.

Abstract

Sufi teachings play a strategic role in strengthening family resilience, particularly among the Shiddiqiyah Order community in Jombang. Sufi doctrine forms the basis for fulfilling social responsibilities as an expression of obedience to God. Sufi teachings erode worldly desires, lust and hedonism within the family, which pose a serious threat to resilience. This study aims to strengthen family functions through a Sufi approach, which in the process creates strong cohesion between Sufism and Sharia. Family resilience is created and shaped by the convergence of spirituality contained in the teachings of the order. Members of the order are able to adapt to mental, social and even economic crises through psychological and spiritual resilience. This concept is the answer to family breakdown and fragmentation caused by authoritarianism and hedonism. How is the concept of family resilience built by Sufi followers? How can Sufi teachings strengthen family resilience? This is a qualitative study, with primary data obtained from interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the teachings of the Shiddiqiyah Order teach a balance between the Sufi and Sharia dimensions. The rituals of dzikir jahr and the heart are directed at strengthening the relationship with God, while still making worldly functions a manifestation of faith. From zikr, heart rituals and manifestations of faith can give meaning to family relationships, strengthen emotions and create openness in communication, healthy emotional expression through the concept of muhasabah as a spiritual instrument. It is this process that enables the families of the Shiddiqiyah Order to survive and harmoniously establish symbiotic relationships within the family.

Abstract

Transpersonal psychology recognizes mystical experience as a fundamental element in the development of human consciousness. Sufism, representing the Islamic tradition of mysticism, provides a pathway of psychological transformation through the stages of fana’—the dissolution of ego—and baqa’—the attainment of stable spiritual awareness. This research critically explores the interrelation between Sufism and transpersonal psychology by identifying conceptual parallels between fana’ and Maslow’s idea of self-transcendence, as well as between baqa’ and Jung’s notion of individuation. Through a critical literature review, this study reveals that mystical experiences within Sufism are not merely spiritual occurrences but function as psychological processes that contribute to emotional regulation, self-identity reconstruction, and the enhancement of mental well-being. Moreover, Sufi contemplative practices such as muraqabah and dhikr share significant similarities with mindfulness techniques in contemporary psychotherapy, highlighting their potential therapeutic value. The findings suggest that integrating Sufi principles with transpersonal psychology could reshape modern psychotherapeutic paradigms, promoting a more holistic and spirituality-oriented model of mental health intervention.

Abstract

AbstractSeveral years of experience teaching PLPG training for teachers in the Ministry of Religion, especially Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, found the fact that "the teacher" as the essential instrument in the process of teaching and learning activities in the classroom is considered unattractive. Therefore, "teachers" are required to design PAI curriculum development and conduct contextual learning on PAI subjects, to be able to connect the material with real-life students. This study aims to explore the relationship between curriculum development and the improvement of PAI contextual learning. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative with a multi-case design carried out at SMPN (Junior High School) 3 Rejoso Darul Ulum and MTsN (Islamic Junior High School) Tambak Beras Jombang. The results showed that; (1) the curriculum development approach commonly referred to and used in both institutions is academic and humanistic. While the technological approach is still unclear. (2) The use of additional PAI literature such as Jurisprudence and Arabic language development, by referring to Fath al-Qarib and Amsilah Tasrifiyah as a form of integration between the formal curriculum in schools and the boarding school curriculum. (3) Factually it can be stressed that the process of curriculum development can increase the contextually of active PAI learning in both educational institutions through the use of project-based learning strategies. Abstract

Education is currently increasingly directing students toward a passion for competition. Competitive model education can blunt emotional and spiritual intelligence to inhibit the growth of vibrant and affective traits in student personalities. Therefore, the Dimensions of Sufism in education can function as an alternative to stem the disruption and problems of millennial education. This study uses a multi-case study type of Higher Education in East Java, Indonesia. The dimensions of Sufism in Islamic religious education in higher education show their uniqueness. The unique fact is the teaching of Sufism at Darul Ulum University (UNDAR) Jombang, which prioritizes the teaching of the Trisula course with three pillars: the concept of boarding schools, Sufi order, and campus. Sufism values are taught in all study programs and are internalized practically through the ritual of the Sufi order in the structured campus activity program. At the same time, the uniqueness of Sufism teaching in the other six higher educations emphasizes the basis of the cluster in the field of science. This study argues that the injection of Sufism values into the structure of the higher education curriculum is a primary need to equip intellect intelligence to control themselves against the dynamics of life.
