Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh situasi dan kondisi belajar di saat pandemic COVID-19 ini yang dilakukan secara online. Pembelajaran online ini merupakan hal yang baru dirasakan oleh siswa, karena guru dan siswa menggunakan fasilitas internet dan juga aplikasi, sehingga selama belajar online siswa bisa mengalami hambatan. Proses belajar mengajar online ini dapat dilakukan dimanapun dan kapanpun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hambatan yang dihadapi oleh siswa dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa inggris online selama pandemic COVID-19 khususnya siswa SMA N 8 Solok Selatan. Teknik pengambilan data yang digunakan dalam peneilitian ini adalah teknik total sampling yaitu seluruh kelas X dan XI IPA dan IPS yang berjumlah 35 orang yang dipilih sebagai partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menemukan bahwa siswa mengalami beberapa hambatan dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa Inggris yaitu: administrative/instructor issue, social interaction, academic skills, technical skills, learner motivation, time/support for studies, cost and access to the internet and technical problem.Kata kunci : Belajar Online, Hambatan Siswa Dalam Belajar Online

Abstract

Online learning is one way to overcome problem in education field during covit 19 out break. Facing this defiance condition, teachers are demanded more creative  in presenting course by adapting learning model which is more interesting and fun. Team of English lecturers of STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat bridge this condition by having devotion to the community. This activity is as an effort to improve teachers’ communication technique especially to young teachers in presenting their course more interesting by applying fillers theory. Young teachers in SMP Nasional as one of private school are encouraged by applying fillers technique which is applied via the teaching video using the kine master application. Fillers used that are effective in class communication and teaching videos are two the most important things put in this program. Young teachers are the main target in this program since team feels that they still have lack of experiences and teaching time. The team hopes the equipped with the various fillers techniques in constructing various teaching video, their video results will be much better  and interesting for students.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how English teachers apply the Think Pair Share Strategy and what difficulties are found when implementing the Think Pair Share Strategy in teaching speaking at SMP N 3 Matur. This study uses a qualitative method. The data collection technique used is purposive sampling. The participant in this study was a teacher who taught in class VII at SMP N 3 Matur. The research instruments used were observation, video recorder, and field notes. Researchers used indicators from Phan and Lan (2021). From the research data, it was found that the implementation of the Think Pair Share strategy was optimal, because the teacher had implemented all the procedures in teaching speaking. Although in implementing this strategy there are some difficulties faced by the teacher including there are students who do not convey or add when their friends share ideas in front of the class, there are students who are just silent, but when approached by the teacher to add he wants to add. In implementing this strategy, not all students can share their ideas in front of the class due to time constraints.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze student behavioral engagement about how students' behavior is related to academic assignments in tenth and twelfth grade of SMK N 1 Muara Bungo. So that students are interested in doing English assignments. in class X & XII SMK N 1 Bungo. The design of this research is descriptive qualitative. The sample of this research is class X AKL & XII MM2. The instruments used in this study were observation, using an observation checklist, field notes and videos. The results of this study are classified into three forms: persistence, focus, asking questions, contributing to class discussion. Based on the results of this study the researcher found that students gave persistence when studying but there were some students who were not too effort in doing task because of the lack of previous knowledge about English, but they only showed an attitude of wanting to do the task and were interested in doing it but not by showing persistence because of the assignment. given by the teacher aspects that are assessed mostly from the creativity of students in designing. But in class students can be focused and contribute in class discussions, such as asking questions about instructions and focusing on doing assignments.

Abstract

This research is written to describe the application of Genre Based Approach (GBA) in teaching English as the implementation Merdeka Curriculum at Senior High School. The objective of this research is to describe the ways of the teacher in implementing GBA in writing module for Senior High School grade X phase E. There are four cycles of GBA; BKOF, MOT, JCOT, and ICOT. These cycles became the focus of the implementation of GBA. Then, this research belongs to qualitative approach with content analysis as the method. Also, the researcher used document of teacher’s module of grade X Phase E Senior High School as the source of data and then, the researcher also chose document analysis as the instrument to analyze the data. To analyze the data, the researcher used four steps; organizing and preparing the data, reading the data, coding the data and interpreting the data. After doing data analysis, the researcher found that the teacher only implemented three cycles, namely, BKOF, MOT, and ICOT. The teacher did not generate the ideas about JCOT cycle. In addition, the teacher still needs to improve knowledge, skill and competence in understanding GBA because the teacher did not implement the cycles in detail.  Keywords: Genre Based Approach (GBA), Module.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the use of e-learning applications that have been implemented by one of the vocational high schools in West Sumatra province, Indonesia since 2018. This aim of the study is to describe the strategies of English teacher in delivering learning materials both before the pandemic and during the covid-19 pandemic. The researcher uses a qualitative research with an autobiographic case study because the researchers want to describe the personal experience of a teacher. The qualitative data from the structured interviews were analyzed by using theory from (Khan, 2011)to classification the strategy in using e-learning application. The results of this study show that before and amid pandemic COVID-19, the English teacher’ strategies in delivering material through e-learning applications at SMK N 2 Pariaman have increased. The strategies used before the pandemic were presentation strategies and generative learning strategies. Meanwhile, amid a pandemic, teacher used presentation strategies, exhibitions, demonstrations, exercises and practices, tutorials, discussions, interactions, modeling, facilities, collaboration, generative learning and motivation. This change was possibly occurred because of the demands of the role of a teacher who must always deliver the learning materials to students even though they have to study online.

Abstract

 This research describes how teachers manage students' use of mobile phones in the classroom. They need a planned and structured strategies to minimise disruption and improve student learning outcomes. Teachers at SMA N 1 Kinali implemented various strategies, such as scheduled mobile phone use, involving parents or guardians, making clear rules, giving rewards, monitoring using monitoring apps, and confiscating mobile phones. The researcher found that involving parents and/or guardians, clear rules, providing rewards, monitoring using monitoring applications are important strategies in managing students' mobile phone use to maintain focus and learning effectiveness. It can be concluded that the implementation of effective management strategies not only reduces distractions, but also ensures technology is used optimally to support the learning process.

Abstract

This study investigated students’ engagement in English learning using Quizizz at SMAN 15 Padang. Using a qualitative approach, this study explored aspects of behavioral, cognitive, emotional, academic, and social engagement. Data were collected through classroom observations, field notes, and video recordings. The findings revealed that Quizizz significantly increased students’ engagement by providing an interactive and enjoyable learning experience. Behavioral engagement was reflected in active participation and persistence during Quizizz sessions. Cognitive engagement was evident in students’ ability to critically analyze and discuss learning materials. Emotional engagement was demonstrated through students’ enthusiasm and satisfaction. While academic engagement demonstrated consistent progress in class, social engagement highlighted collaboration and interaction among peers and teachers. These results suggest that Quizizz can enhance English learning by encouraging greater student engagement. engagement.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis penghargaan yang digunakan guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMA Kartika 1-5 Padang. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah guru bahasa Inggris di SMA Kartika 1-5 Padang yang menggunakan reward sebagai strategi pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti mengumpulkan data menggunakan daftar periksa observasi, catatan lapangan, dan video. Peneliti merekam atau memvideokan kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan. Setelah itu peneliti akan meminta peserta untuk mengisi lembar observasi yang telah disiapkan oleh peneliti. Berdasarkan data di atas, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa hanya dua tipe reward yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris di SMA Kartika 1-5 Padang yaitu social reward dan reward token, namun cara penerapan dan waktu penerapan yang dilakukan oleh masing-masing guru berbeda.

Abstract

Dalam rangka meningkatkan mutu pendidikan, Menteri Pendidikan (Mendiknas) telah meluncurkan "Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar". Program Merdeka Belajar ini merupakan salah satu upaya Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan dalam rangka menciptakan inovasi-inovasi pembelajaran dalam rangka mewujudkan komitmen untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Untuk mendukung Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar, bahan ajar yang dirancang oleh guru harus mencakup kegiatan Self Directed Learning. Dalam setiap pelaksanaan Kurikulum Merdeka, menuntut siswa untuk mandiri dalam belajar (Self Directed Learning), dimana siswa diberi tanggung jawab untuk mengatur dan mengendalikan proses pembelajaran dan pencapaian dalam pembelajaran. Siswa juga dituntut untuk memiliki pola pikir mandiri dalam belajar, dalam arti siswa memegang kendali penuh dan bertanggung jawab atas pembelajarannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegiatan Self Directed Learning di modul ajar kelas X yang disusun oleh Guru Penggerak di SMA N 15 Padang. Data dikumpulkan secara kualitatif dengan dokumen ceklis, hasil data menunjukan bahwa modul ajar yang didesain oleh Guru Penggerak belum sepenuhnya menerapkan aktivitas Self Directed Learning. Guru masih menjadi fasilitator dalam pembelajaran, dan tetap menjadi penentu keputusan.
