Abstract

There is some evidence that mindful parenting is a parenting approach that involves parents in adolescent behaviour. However, only a few studies have investigated the relationship between mindful parenting to early childhood resilience. This research aims to analyze the relationship between mindful parenting and early childhood resilience through a non-mediation correlation study. The method used is regression analysis with the cluster sampling technique. The research sample consisted of 135 mothers who had young children. The mindful parenting research instrument uses the IM-P scale, and resilience uses the RMS-25 scale, which has been adapted according to research needs. The instrument was declared valid and reliable with a Cronbach alpha value greater than 0.6, namely 0.904 for mindful parenting and 0.951 for resilience. The research results show that mindful parenting is positively correlated with children's resilience. This is proven by the significance value (0.000 greater than 0.05) and the coefficient of determination value of 41.4%, and the rest is influenced by other variables that were not researched. Mindful parenting fosters children's resilience so that it can build the ability to manage emotions, make decisions, identify problems, and respect oneself and others.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of early reading activities at Bebandem State Kindergarten, Karangasem Regency, Bali District for Group B, children aged 5-6 years. The focus of this research is on the planning, implementation, evaluation, supporting factors, and inhibiting factors of early reading activities. This study employs a qualitative approach and descriptive research type. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. Data are analyzed qualitatively using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the research data was re-evaluated using source triangulation and method triangulation. The results show that: 1) The planning of early reading learning activities at Bebandem State Kindergarten begins with a socialization activity through In-House Training (IHT), building a shared commitment where teachers are invited to prepare a lesson plan or teaching module that meets the needs of the students. 2) The implementation of learning uses picture and letter card games, where children are invited to play cards according to the current theme; 3) The evaluation of early reading activities at Bebandem State Kindergarten is conducted through observation, assessing the implementation of learning activities, and identifying actions to improve any shortcomings in the learning activities carried out. 4) The supporting factors of early reading learning activities at Bebandem State Kindergarten include guidance from parents and families in early reading activities. 5) The inhibiting factors in the implementation of learning include both internal and external factors. Internal factors include intelligence, interest, talent, and motivation, while external factors include family environment, school environment, and community environment.

Abstract

This study addresses the challenge faced by many parents of children aged 3–4 years who struggle to manage tantrum behaviors due to limited understanding of tantrums and appropriate handling strategies. The primary objective of this research is to develop a picture storybook that is both feasible and easy to read, aimed at supporting parents in addressing tantrum behaviors in early childhood. The study adopts a Research and Development (R&D) methodology using the ADDIE model—Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation—restricted to the development phase. This phase ensures the validity of the product through expert reviews and user testing. The picture storybook is designed with realistic themes that reflect tantrum-related scenarios and incorporate core values such as empathy, responsibility, and discipline. Key narrative components include characters, settings, linear plots, implicit moral messages, third-person point of view, and the use of simple language suited for early childhood contexts. Validation results show that the picture storybook was rated as highly appropriate by content experts (score: 89.5) and media experts (score: 59.5). Furthermore, parental assessment indicated the book was very easy to read, with scores of 83.8 in a small-scale test and 85.12 in a large-scale test. The results of this study imply that a well-structured picture storybook can function as an effective educational tool for improving parental understanding and strategies in managing tantrum behavior. However, a limitation of this study is the absence of data on long-term behavioral outcomes due to the restriction of the research to the development stage. Future research is recommended to employ a pretest-posttest experimental design to evaluate the book’s effectiveness in enhancing parental knowledge and attitudes. Expanding the sample size and duration of book use is also advised to assess its broader applicability.

Abstract

Emotional regulation is one of the essential aspects of early childhood social-emotional development that plays a significant role in preparing children to face social and academic challenges. However, understanding of children’s ability to recognize, manage, and express their emotions remains limited, thus further research is needed to provide a more in-depth picture of emotional regulation levels in early childhood. The aim of this study is to explore the emotional regulation level of children aged 5–6 years. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey method. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The questionnaire consisted of 11 items and had undergone expert testing using Lawshe’s content validity as well as empirical testing using SPSS 25 for Windows. The reliability test in this study used the Cronbach’s Alpha technique, which yielded a result of 0.947, indicating high reliability. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis techniques. The results showed that most children aged 5–6 years were in the excellent category (50.54%), although some children were in the quite capable category (1.88%) and required more attention to further develop their emotional regulation. Thus, it can be concluded that, in general, early childhood children are capable of managing their emotions well in various situations. The implication of this study is the importance of the roles of parents, teachers, and policymakers in creating environments that support the development of emotional regulation in children from an early age.

Abstract

The quality of early childhood education continues to face challenges in providing learning methods that optimally accommodate the diverse potentials of children. One potential alternative is to utilize local wisdom as a contextual approach to support the development of children's multiple intelligences. This study aims to analyze the potential of the Nyadran tradition as an educational medium in stimulating various intelligences in early childhood, based on Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research involved 42 early childhood students and 4 teachers from two early childhood education institutions. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles & Huberman’s interactive analysis model. The findings indicate that the Nyadran tradition facilitates activities that integrally develop visual-spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, musical, and bodily-kinesthetic intelligences. Activities within this tradition encourage children to actively engage, collaborate, express themselves, explore the environment, and reflect on themselves through various cultural practices. This study concludes that Nyadran has the potential to serve as an effective local wisdom-based pedagogical strategy to support the holistic development of early childhood learners. The implications encourage educators to integrate local cultural values into meaningful and relevant learning experiences for children.
